I was dead against the Darwin game, but the facts are we beat a decent Port the week after in 2017, and then had a dominant second half against the Dogs this year. We’ve handled Darwin recovery with aplomb after 9 seasons up there.

We beat the Dogs by 7 goals the week after Darwin, and then proceeded to win 7 of our last 10 games (which coincided with our best month of footy since 2000) Would’ve we done any better had we not played in Darwin?

I’ve heard we’ve asked for Hayden Ballantyne thrown into the package.

Didn't we want to trade pick 2 for him back in 2013/2014? Him and David Myers off memory.

Would be disappointed if he was traded as he'll be best 22 next year with the attributes he brings to the table (aside from being injury prone). With that being said, club loyalty goes out the window when a close family member dies and the player wishes to move for personal reasons. I can't believe some posters are being bitter towards AVB.

Weed was horrid in the prelim.

Tyson and Salem were our 2 worst players in the prelim.

The JFK 1 year contract extension more than softens the blow for the impeding Hogan departure.

Is he a good player and would he satisfy our outside needs? If the answer is yes to both, then yes.

Given how much of a shambles Freo's foward line, I'd expect Freo to pay up big. Real big. Pick 5 and their second rounder would be a great start.

I thought they ranked the draft after finals rather than round 23. For instance a club could finish 8th after round 23 and then win the flag. Surely that club would get pick 18 (premiership) rather than pick 10 (rd 23 finish)

If Pedo can do a better job trying to get us into the finals than Weid then Pedo stays. Can't afford to have someone on his L plates in MFC's two most important weeks in years. Having said that Pedo has been atrocious this year in the seniors. A real step back from a good 2017.

Hopefully we have better luck in it than the pink jumper which we are 0-6 in.

So basically the club is conceding that this year's Darwin game is going to physically effect our run home this season. Not good. However, good news that we may be looking to get out of the deal. More than happy to have that home game transferred to Etihad given how well we play there and how badly we play at the MCG. Interesting that last year we had a good win over Port the week after Darwin, but then put in 2 lackluster performances against North and GWS (both interstate). So the flow on effects could last beyond the 1 week.

Yeah thanks for that. Good memory or research by you. Was only focusing on Friday night home and away games and that final slipped my mind.

If you're referring to that amazing 3 point win over Adelaide in Roosy's first year, that was a Saturday twilight.

That's a useless stat IMO. We beat Port on a Saturday night over there in 2016. I guess if that game was on a Friday night we would've lost.

When was the last time we played an interstate game on a Friday night? The most recent one I can think of was against Sydney in 2003 on Anzac Day when we blew a 20 point three qtr time lead and then conceded 10 last qtr goals.

Could be worse. Could be Simon Lethlean.

Not fussed if he leaves at the end of the year but I still think he has a role to play in the last 6 or so weeks. Could easily get a game over Hannan or Spargo and we're crying out for pace.
