Jakovitch was as lazy as! This kid in contrast works his arse off and even took a saving mark down back yesterday. This kid's part of a team, Jacko wasn't.

Or our own Dick Fenton-Smith

We were thrashed by Hawthorn, what happened next week?We must be very careful!
-
Together with membership numbers the club must be concerned to increase sponsorship dollars. Figures published in the Age recently showed we are towards the bottom in this regard. If I remember correctly Hawthorn (for instance) receives more than triple what we do in sponsorship money, amounting to many millions of dollars, dollars that build elite training facilities et al.
-
More wins = more members, just ask Hawthorn. But, more wins also means more bums on seats and more bums on seats also= more money. If we can keep performing above expectations as we did a week ago the crowds will come and the membership will grow.

Interesting reading about Max King, any significance to the last words in the report about being consistent "on and off the field"?

I'm not one of the many! He's too good to lose!

Thanks, staying in a hotel with Fox Footy, great win. Robertson was awesome, Davey electrifying. Young Gaz with hair. I'd forgotten half our team from that time (time slips away).

I've just watched the game and as I've said before, watching on TV gives one a different perspective to being there. However I reckon Max Gawn was the one who set it all up, he was a monster. 6: Gawn 5: Vince 4: Jones N 3: Viney 2: Brayshaw 1: Dunn Very impressed with ANB, Stretch, Garlett, Watts.

Having just watched a replay of the game, I'd say Motlop certainly deserved recognition. He kept them in the game. But big Max was IMHO the standout.

I'd add Kent to that list and maybe JKH. And of course we also have Stretch and ANB in the mix as well. As for the Saints older players, they were playing in finals just a few years ago while ours were just dreaming (and still are).

I heard David Parkin (closet Dee's supporter) on radio a few years ago refer to Col as Melbourne's only A grade player (I thought that was going a little far).I worry for ex players like Sylvia, hope he hasn't spent all the money he's earned.

The book "Glory and Fame: the rise and rise of the Essendon football Club" is on the remainder table outside the Gisborne news agency for $12.95, down from $39.95. Two copies left so be quick (no, I didn't purchase a copy).

Do you reckon Rupe gets his digital copy of "The Collingwood Football Club / Liberal Party Gazette " each day over there in New York just to read the odd Dee's article.Probably doesn't even know the name of our captain!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN
Dee Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
TDI, while I'm glad we got Osc, that line "we couldn't believe he was still there" seems to be a stock saying by Melbourne recruiters year in year out. I think I may have heard it first when Jack Fitzpatrick was picked up late! However, from reports around the traps (big footy) ANB was well regarded before the draft. I look forward to following his and Oscar's progress during the year. -
The ground was completely re surfaced after the end of the 2014 AFL season. I'm not sure how far down they dug, but I do know it was a very thorough job costing some millions of dollars and the first makeover since the Commonwealth games. So, it may well be harder than before!

I have a Telstra tbox and on it is an AFL app. which gives me all replays of all AFL games (including last seasons). There are two problems, the first is minor, having to wait till the next day to see replays, The second is major, having to put up with Dermy on Foxtel games, sh*t he's awful!
