  1. 165 games is not a bad effort and i think Dunny should be eligible for life membership to the club after more than 10 years service. And in years to come we may see his son Emmett in the red and blue (Emmett Dunn ha ha)!
  2. That first game against GWS was a revelation. Here's this 18 year old slightly pudgy kid, and Jordie McKenzie lookalike, wearing Jordie's 13 ripping it up like a 50 gamer. Sh*t thought I we have found a player, and sh*t we have. Oliver, Viney, Bradshaw, Petracca, Hunt, Salem and the future looks more than just promising.
  3. I'm sure that if Melbourne won a premiership within the next three or so years MCC president Steve Smith would move heaven and earth to hold celebrations at the "G". And future presidents would do the same.
  4. What exactly is the problem with our current training setup? Goschs paddock seems to be perfectly acceptable and was re-surfaced at considerable cost when we moved there. And the training facilities at AAMI stadium are excellent. I toured the place a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised and had my enthusiasm endorsed by a couple of players. A far better facility than the Junction Oval (which is being re-developed by Cricket Victoria as their admin and playing base anyway). In a perfect world we would train at the MCG, but it isn't going to happen. Maybe in the future a stand alone training facility will be developed in the docklands area (as has been mooted), but for the moment our training facility is quite acceptable and within a short walk to the MCG.
  5. It was that bast*#d Bontempelli who kicked the winning goal against us at docklands in his first season, ba#%ard! But I still hope the Doggies win it, but unfortunately I don't think they will.
  6. A couple of observations from my chair in front of the TV on Sunday afternoon. My first glimpse of Hulett: Impressive looking lad, a sort of tall Tapscott!!! Rather impressed with J Smith, Son of Shaun, not a great game (and not a bad game) but he seems to have come quite a long way in a short time, could be a find! Clayton Oliver really is a cut above, and he looks so innocent (such a nice boy he he)! And just on the MFC VFL side: where would they play their home games? Certainly not at the MCG, Goschs paddock? All open to the public, or where?
  7. With the family at the Royal Melbourne Show yesterday (sheer torture) and noticed disproportionately large number of people in bulldogs gear. Now I realise the show grounds are out west but the numbers seemed to be greater than one would normally expect. So, lots of support, lots of merchandise sales. No matter what the result next Saturday, this on field display by the Western Bulldogs/ Footscray will mean $$$$$ security for some years to come and a supporter base of well over 40K.
  8. B: Terlich Frawley Grimes HB: Dunn McDonald T Vince C: Toumpas Watts Tyson HF: Bail Fitzpatrick Cross F: Georgiou Pedersen Howe FOLL: Spencer Jones N Trengove INT: Byrnes Michie Jones M SUB: JKH And we lost 10, 8, 68 to 6, 15, 51. I'm a little surprised at the number of players still on our list (although I'm sure a number will be gone in a few weeks time) !!!
  9. I remember people on this forum saying how lucky we wore to receive low draft picks in 08 and 09 because it would put us in a commanding position when Gold Coast came in the following year and GWS after that. Watts, Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Lucas Cook, Blease, Tapscott: not all out and out failures but not too many out and out stars. We the Melbourne Football Club Fu#%ed up big time. At least things look a little better now, and reviewing those drafts where GC and GWS had players handed to them on a plate is disturbing for me, at least we are in a better position now than in 08 or 09!
  10. And being vertically challenged, how many clubs would have looked at him, Not too many I reckon! Good footballers can come in a variety of sizes and Daniel is proof.
  11. A rather enigmatic smile on the big man also ( and IMHO the whole scene spoils by the bloke on the right)!
  12. And when you do become members you can put your name down for membership to the MCC food and wine society and wait another 25 years for that!!!!!
  13. With longevity the way it is, even gaining MCC membership at (say) 60 years of age gives maybe another 25/30 years membership, or even more. I've been a country member for decades and consider the annual sub to be well worth while and certainly far, far less expensive than other similar sporting clubs around the world. I played squash for the club many years ago and that and many other sporting sections add to the enjoyment of the place. Sign up the kids, sign yourself up because you'll kick yourself in 20 years if you don't.
  14. Go to google and enter " Dee's join race for Sanderson" and you should be able to read the story.
  15. Sorry, didn't see the game, disappointed that I can't vote on the last game of the year. (Apparently Salem went well!)
  16. Just a note on sprint coaching: If I remember correctly, Kevin Dyson when he joined Melbourne was quite slow (slower than Trengove) but was helped enormously by a sprint coach. With proper training Trengove would definitely improve by a yard or two, certainly enough to aid his on field competitiveness.
  17. It was a day for nostalgia yesterday: back to 2012/13!!! 6: Jatta, the best Melbourne player on the ground 5; TMac, the second best Melbourne player on the ground 4: Hunt, the best worst player on the ground 3: Tyson, the second best worst player on the ground 2: OMac, third 1: Big Max (well he tried)!
  18. I have never seen that clip before, geeeeeee it brought back some great memories. I'd love to see something produced by the current kids and of course featuring Jack son of Todd and Billy son of Steve. What a great off season project for the budding film makers (and I'm sure there are some) within the group. This time of course the facial hair replaces the mullet allowing us to look back and laugh nostalgically in 20/30 years time.
  19. Greetings from Hamilton Island where after an exhaustive day of swimming and sunbathing I switched on Fox, and enjoyed the Demon win. So: 6: Jetta 5: Tyson 4: Gawn 3:Hunt 2: Brayshaw 1; T McDonald and back to the beach!
  20. It's rather difficult to add much to the discussion after 34 Pages and having been at the game and watched the replay it's almost impossible to not feel elation. Yet this group is still very raw in AFL terms and it will come back to earth with a bit of a thud from time to time. But give Brayshaw, Petracca, Oliver et al another 20 to 30 games and I believe they are capable of almost anything. In Petracca , Viney and Oliver especially we have three real tough lippy bastards who will not be intimidated and will not let others in the team be intimidated either. ( I know there are others but they spring to mind immediately). And as well, how great to see young Weiderman's debut and to see the Weiderman family at the ground in support. It was so nice I almost forgave grandad Murray for 1958 ( I said "almost")! Anyway, next, maybe the debut of Liam Hullett to look forward to. The replay was interesting for the inane, immature commentary. They kept expecting Melbourne to capitulate some time during the third quarter, but we didn't did we Derwayne!!!!!!
  21. Matt Jones is genuine depth, and has improved on last year and should be kept. Kyle Cheney now plays for Adelaide and is doing quite well, having played most games this year.
  22. I'm pretty sure he was one of the leadership group at school and underwent leadership training at that institution. Of course such training doesn't automatically make you a great leader but from what I've heard Jack was well respected by schoolmates. Should he be made captain of the MFC? No, he doesn't appear to possess that bit of " bastard" needed by a leader, and which is possessed as far as I can tell by J.Viney. But I think he would do well in the leadership group. He appears to care about the club and he appears to care about the other players.
  23. Really I can't go past Big Max as BOG. 6: Gawn 5: Viney 4: Watts 3: Tyson 2: Jones 1: Oliver
