I understand he did time at CHB in his junior days (or so I read). And he saved the day down back in round one this year. Now on Matthews and his comments regarding Hogan: I saw a bit of Hogan at Casey in 2014 and it was noticeable that he was anything but a stay at home full forward, and this he transferred into his senior career. When I heard Matthews make comment on Hogan as a stay at home FF I was quite bemused. But then when you generally watch the top few teams you tend not to know much about the rest. DISCLAIMER: dee dee is not and never has been a Matthews fan, he wouldn't last 10 minutes today playing the way he did back then.

I'd be thrilled as anyone to see Petracca debut next week, but my more logical self, the bit of me that remains half buried during the football season has come to the surface and said No. No, because the club needs to ensure the kid has some real competition experience behind him at VFL level to at least give him a taste of football beyond junior level. No matter how good Petracca is, the step up from junior level to AFL level without the benefit of ( after more than a year on the sidelines) at least a run in the pre season comp. is a step too far. Maybe a debut in round 4 if he manages to get through a couple of games with Casey. By then maybe Brayshaw will have player a game or two and we will know more about Jack Trengove's progress. Ah, exciting times!

I agree with you SR, however I'm sure the team and the coaching staff are well aware of the bad that's still there. i must admit I was horrified by some of the efforts during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. But sh*t the last was a beauty!

And this is one of his many strengths FD, he has a cool head and the more he plays in a team that's on the improve the better I think he will become. Watts won us the game yesterday.

6:Viney 5: McDonald Tom 4: Watts 3: Kennedy 2: Jones N. 1: Oliver

Cripps is going to be one of those opposition players I will enjoy watching play against any team but Melbourne. And he played well against us in that un-loseable game last year. Frightening to think of Cripps and Hogan together in one of the WA teams (and I bet they're plotting, the bastards).

The Blooz surprised me last night. Richmond went in with the old "this'll be a cakewalk" attitude and boy oh boy did they get a shock. And I thought the blooz were quite good, shoulda won! And- Sheet, that Cripps kid goes OK

I'll add my thanks as well. Your photos give us a real sense of the occasion: congratulations.

He's back! (just announced).

I remember him running down "the rat" Johnny Platten during a game. Schwarz was a bit of a freak and the team of '94 was something else!

Because he was born on the 17th of March 1997! (but he'll be 19 soon)! -
Emma Quayle - How to build an AFL footballer
Dee Dee replied to TeamPlayedFine39's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was certainly an interesting article. I heard a former senior coach claim that playing in an AFL team was like being in the army. A sort of "when I say jump, you jump" mentality. And just as soldiers often find life difficult after leaving the comradeship and discipline of the military, so former players often find it difficult to adjust to civilian life. -
Hogan went into the midfield for a couple of ball ups during a game last year. I think it was during the StKilda away match at docklands. He did very well, so it's a real option!!!!!!!

I was about to post much the same comment. $cully, skinny legs and the others were to be the saviours of the MFC, Sh*t, Sh *t, [censored]!

I've watched that game a couple of times and the contributions of M Jones and ANB were vital to our win. And bye th' bye it was nice to hear Derwayne having to say nice things about Melbourne, and down at Geelong too.

MFC 2016 Membership - Record Broken. Next stop: 40,000
Dee Dee replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Should Melbourne experience the same modest success as North has achieved over recent years I would expect membership to be in at least the low 40k's or even higher. Should the team climb even higher then I would expect at least Geelong like membership numbers. I'm not sure if the club could ever challenge the big clubs in this regard but a dozen or so years ago Hawthorn was struggling and look what they've achieved even with their sh*tty colours. -
Agree with you, would introduce a"him and us"division: sort of modern version of gentlemen (gentleman) and players.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Dee Dee replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
So, can anyone on this forum tell me (and I'm sure other frustrated readers) anything about the progress of Clayton Oliver? -
Newsworthy? Probably not, but It's called titilation and it sells newspapers and sucks in viewers (voyeurs).

I have to agree with you, we get this sort of thing trotted out by a player or two every year. Gee, the boys were training the house down the year Sylvia joined and every year since. l suppose they have to be positive but, deeds not words please boys.
