Recent occurrences have nudged us further down the re-build path than the club would like. I was anti-rebuild - thought we could top up with some smart recruiting (eg Dan Houston) but Trac’s silent outbursts have made that infinitely more difficult now so I’m more open to the cultural and attitudinal cleansing that a re-build could bring.

Paywall so can’t read the article but what is the context behind him saying ‘odds of playing next year are better than they were a week ago?’… I was under the impression the exact opposite was the case?

Being a player agent would be such a tricky job / they need to fight hard on behalf of their client but there is only 18 clubs they can deal with so they have to be really careful not to burn bridges and if there is truth that Trac is being overly influenced/advised by others who aren’t his agents, you could see they might want to end the relationship to protect their own brand. Sorry for saying ‘brand’ so soon….

I wonder if that is because they’re waiting to see if they can land a key forward (which would send Petty back and result in Tommo being surplus to requirements) or if they’re anticipating a trade with StK, helping them avoid diluting Battle compo

Surely a mid-game, misdiagnosed injury in a contact sport isn’t on the same level as pressuring players to opt into a banned, club-led doping program? feels like Ralphy is fishing here. What worries me is Trac and his ‘manager’ cotton onto the angle and try and pursue it

His future post-footy is (possibly was now) much better aligned with a media/commentary gig… he has the personality of a lettuce leaf on social media - it won’t carry him deeply beyond his playing days

He’s off to Europe soon, for how long I don’t know but it feels like the opportunity for mediation is soon to disappear. My worst case scenario (which feels increasingly likely) is this remains a stalemate all through the trade period and we have a pre-season (another) where any form of progress is stifled by confusion and tension with a star player. It’ll ruin our trade period and it is likely to ruin our pre-season.

I love the math but in absolutely no world does it make sense for Richmond to shed experienced players in a re-build only to give up 2x top 6 picks for a 29 year old. I’d love to live in that world but unfortunately it doesn’t exist.
