Gee the cats did a good job in the pre-season. Stengle and the emergence of Atkins and De Koning.

5 & 7 feels overs for pick 2 but IF they were able to swindle that the deal with Melbourne feels about right…
-
Yep I’m all for Sheezel too. Anyone know if he kicks straight??
-
Recent record with tall, top 20 lads from the region hasn’t been great… I’m the vindictive type so I just sincerely hope Melbourne (& others) persistently harass the living daylights out of Victorian players drafted to WA & SA with ridiculous come-home offers.
-
and then request a trade back home to Perf

I have some intel that Tomlinson is far more advanced in thinking/planning for life after footy than he is thinking about a major shift for another footy contract

My only prediction for the silly season is this; I think West Coast’s list manager (completely unknown to me until today) has the potential to get to Adrian Dodoro/ Peter Bell levels of unlikeability and Mark Neeld/Barry Prendergast levels of incompetence. - he isn’t going to be ‘gun shy’ (but has already taken pick 2 off the table) - has expressed serious level of confidence in convincing Jackson and getting the deal done (but hasn’t spoken to him yet). Come on old mate.

Come to Junction Oval - we’ve got more of a ‘dinner at expensive French restaurants’ vibe going on down here

The Trading & Drafting to Get Back on Track Board is LIVE
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Are there any promising goal-kicking coaches available in this year’s batch? -
Yeah I understand your point about regular Victorians feeling like we drew the short straw on the Covid front but WA players in the AFL were; - in hubs during the season (remembering ALL AFL players were under some form of restriction during the season) - then they went straight back home to WA from September - December (from memory I think Luke may have even stayed in Perth until January) - vic didn’t have much lockdown during the pre-season months WA players were required in Melbourne… I don’t believe Covid is the reason Jackson is going home.
-
Weren’t most of our list interstate in hubs (like all other sides) during the majority of lockdown?
-
West Coast can trade out of 1st round with special permission. Read somewhere today that there is a belief that AFL would tick that off fairly quickly in the event of a Jackson trade given his age/achievements.
-
There should be a support hotline for demonlanders who named themselves after Luke Jackson.
-
Cameron Ling quietly seething that the media spotlight is on Luke Jackson, and not on his musings of Geelong during preliminary final week.

Arguably has form in this space… decided he wanted out of basketball mid-tour in South America. Maybe the kid is just a homebody and is only just realising that now. Best of luck to him - he has done enough to facilitate the possibility of playing a sport he loves professionally in his home state and is using perfectly-legal levers to make it happen. We just need to focus on looking after ourselves now. Whether that is strangling the absolute best short term deal out of Freo/WC or maintaining a perception of being a ‘caring club’ (to safeguard future drafting of interstate talent), I’ll leave that up to the club.
-
Maybe. Maybe early Melb/Freo negotiations haven’t been as good as his mgmt would’ve liked and they don’t want to expose him by nominating a club and not getting there… Dangerous ploy if it is a PSD threat though because if WC throw up an offer Melbourne prefer, Melb will make noise that they are our preferred trading partner and Luke will be somewhat locked into going down that path (or, if he doesn’t, he will look like he is playing games).
-
He’s too broken. Also you’d end up paying overs for the name. Give us picks or someone younger/reliable/impactful. edit: sorry, this was in reply to a separate post re. Fyfe
-
This is actually really good news - saying no preferred WA club which gives us some leverage.
-
Feeling eerily similar to the time Howe left us because Collingwood promised him a role change only for him to assume (and thrive in) exactly the same role he played at Melbourne.
-
other news, Tanner Bruhn appears to have nominated Geelong as his preferred destination
-
Trade radio insinuating some important trade information will land at 10.00am Wednesday. Best guess is it is the Jacko decision.
-
Why are we talking about Salem in a trade rumours thread? Am I missing something? Understand people are desperate to share their opinion on what the team needs/doesn’t need but that shouldn’t live in a trade rumour thread, surely.
-
I’m considering requesting a trade also.
