Viney's return
I’d be surprised (pleasantly) if we’re not experiencing some form of wobbles in some part of the round by the time he is due back, with his experience and hard edge happily welcomed

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Does this really need its own thread?

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
The whining on this thread is extraordinary, even for Denonland! Crack a smile people, footy is back this weeke…. Oh &”$#% I forgot, <insert moan about Round Zero>

Make an outlandish prediction for 2026
Steven May’s retirement lunch at Entrecôte goes off without a hitch. The next day though, in an apparently unrelated incident, Jake Melkshan gets hand surgery after being bitten by his dog.

2026 Injury List
It’s complicated.

2026 Injury List
Fritta missing makes it 7 out of 11 of our top possession-getters in our last proper-season AFL match will not be in our side in Rd 1.

2026 Injury List
The dogs are a couple of schmackos lighter after Michael Christian’s review. He suspended Jeremy Howe’s dogs for a similar act all those years ago. Typical.

Welcome to Demonland: Paddy Cross
I know nothing about this guy. Who does he play like? How old? Etc

2026 Supplemental Selection Period draft prospects
Think Ah Mu is on Vermont’s list? Also hearing May to East Ringwood so that could be a fun match up out in the east this yr.

Reckon there’d be more than a fair few carpark-loving VRC members that would be pretty upset about that. I give us more chance of making the MCG our base than I do this.

2026 Injury List
I think it is reasonable for people to feel disappointed that a promising key forward started to show some signs has a potentially significant injury

CASEY: Practice Match vs Richmond
That’s your job, right?

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
It’s easy to isolate quietness of Kolt/Sharp/Bill or the wonkiness of CJ behind the ball and be critical but to me the sum of all parts is inportant. That system is generating quick rebound and options everywhere. Salem with good distribution behind the ball. Duke with the run in the middle and Riv looks to be finding quicker/smarter options forward than I can ever recall from him and we are just getting better looks on goal. Keeping in mind we have had Richmond and Norf so far who have each looked near-uncompetitive.

Lot of chatter in the US when it was announced an NFL games was coming to the MCG and they were stunned with the volume of car parking available at an elite sporting ground

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
The irony in all of this is there remains roughly 500 car parks at the MCG in this ‘save a tree’ scenario. Those 500 car parks facilitate roughly 250,000 car trips from the outer suburbs to the G over a 10 year period. My research tells me that keeping those 500 car parks is a 200x worse environmental outcome than removing roughly 50 established trees to facilitate the build.

Still shake my head that the east-Melbourne end of the MCG car park idea was scuppered. It made so much sense in so many ways.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Thursday 26th February 2026
The little guy is like the $10 gift in your Christmas stocking that you’re suddenly getting more enjoyment out of come February than the big-ticket-present bike you also received

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
I call that a ‘skill’. Just seemed like a trick to Melbourne supporters based on limited exposure to such a skill

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
I love Spargy-pants but I’m glad Tommy has more tricks than him because Charlie didn’t have any!

Sam McClure's 2026 A-Graders
In the Dangerfield camp for mine. One of the greats in his prime but his reputation in his twilight years is inflated. Throw Charlie Cameron in there too. has 3 💩 games and then has 1 good game and the media gush over him. If kossie has 3 💩 games and then a good 4th game the commentary would be “we just need to see that more often from him”.

PREGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Playing an AFL match (of any kind) at a rural oval with limited capacity because of construction is one of the sillier decisions I have heard for a while
