  1. Was surprised there wasn’t more Hawthorn hate. They owned us for a LOT of years. Their supporters’ innate belief that another dynasty is just around the corner infuriates me more than anything in the game.
  2. He was quiet early but came into the game. 20-odd disposal at 70% wasn’t too far off his average last year. i recognise he looked hot in the pre-season rolling through the middle but Oliver back has changed his role somewhat so I wonder if he is being unfairly judged.
  3. Apologies if it has been covered but that kid in the youth-sized AFL jersey running around being referred to as ‘the wizard’ after 2 below-average afl games makes me upset. respect the REAL Wizard y’all.
  4. And clouds of arrogance approaching the Dingley area
  5. In a welcome development, the radar says no rain today and humidity at comfortable levels
  6. LoLLLingwood
  7. Hang on a second - David King went to one pre-season training session and declared Collingwood on the brink of a dynasty?!
  8. One of the journos came out tonight and said a likely model would be Tassie will get access to a bucket load of draft picks but there will be conditions on them trading a certain number of those picks
  9. Two things; 1. I don’t think there will be much compensation for the new club picking up free agents 2. Our top tier will be old men by that time (Lever, Trac, Oliver well into their 30s and Gawn, May, Viney will be in retirement villages).
  10. Access to the best free agents at a time when our highest paid players are coming off the books my biggest concern. We’ll either be paying inflated prices or just won’t get a look in at all.
  11. Fun thread after a win; 6 Gawn 5 Oliver 4 Trac 3 McD 2 Billings 1 Koswah my goodness TMac to def excited me today. And Billings in the side bloody hell
  12. You’ll probably find Newscorp are more motivated by making money from people reading their articles than stirring up two tall people who play football.
  13. Yeah everyone gets filthy when they’re dropped but his level of filthiness was: ‘what am I even doing here/I want to leave’ 3 months after he was dropped.
  14. He’d stink the room out pretty quickly
  15. I’m in your camp on this, head trauma is different to other injuries, but with some time to consider it I can see why the AFL are taking their time and treading carefully here - they don’t want to create a scenario where clubs and players can start using the words ‘medical retirement’ to trigger a full and quick payment to a player outside of the cap.
  16. There’s another team who have figured out how to win tight matches.
  17. Didn’t realise he was contracted, thought this was his final. My bad. We’ll take Rankine and 6 first rounders pls.
  18. Worth noting that; - half time reporter was Theodore Doropolous - Theo has just scored the job of his lifetime with ch7 in Melbourne - Theo is from Adelaide - if I were Theo I’d be leveraging my network back home to score early points in my new plush gig - Theo has 6 O’s n his name. Can’t be trusted.
  19. That moment has passed. Maximum trade value was last yr when he was still in contract. Mid-ish first rounder is what the offer will be otherwise they’ll threaten to take him to pre-season draft where everyone will baulk at his heavily front-ended deal and desire to be back home. Goodwin gambled on him being a critical piece in a premiership tilt this year. I don’t blame Goodwin, but it isn’t looking great for us at the moment.
  20. Hang on, aren’t we trying to be the Yankees?
  21. Tomlinson wanted to leave last year but Goodwin told him in his review that he was a required player. He was filthy when he got dropped last yr after his best game in the red and the blue.
  22. Can only guess that Tommo wasn’t following the more subtle KPIs that armchair fans just aren’t as aware of - like maintaining a sub-20% goal kicking accuracy or bombing it to nobody for at least 60% of your possessions.
  23. I think Goody just enjoys f*%ng with Tommo’s mind
  24. I’m not sure he is capable of reverse psychology… in fact I’m not even convinced he knows which player he is talking about here
  25. Re. Brayshaw’s payout; ”Fellow AFL 360 co-host Mark Robinson called for the funds to be taken from inside Melbourne’s salary cap.” And then he goes on to qualify that with; “My gut feel is if you sign someone to a long-term deal – I don’t want to be flippant about this but unless someone passes or literally can’t play football beyond circumstances it should go in the cap.” ummm is being forced to medically retire pretty much exactly “can’t play football beyond circumstances”? the Slobinator really Knows how to push my buttons.
