  1. like a mcadam type maybe?
  2. I myself am linking Geelong with Soldo, would be a neat handover from stanley before conway
  3. mckercher, regarded as the best kick in the draft has said that he thinks schoenmakers is top tier, would be a real weapon from deep defence to release pressure if he can spot up targets outside d50
  4. dougal howard. why are the saints so off him whilst still playing him every week. if he's on 800 next year we can easily make that 600 and 3 years
  5. surely we're in for dougal howard if the saints are throwing him up, wouldn't be opposed to him playing 22 games for us next season if petty is going to be a forward
  6. Lever Sparrow Hunter JSmith Oliver Spargo
  7. moy-er
  8. i thought the same, but then i remember every time i've watched him play and u go he has all the attributes to dominate and has been tried at either end of the field but he just doesn't impact games agree he's too small to be a key and we're stacked in that 3rd forward role but he probably finds himself listed somewhere for 24 even if it is back at the doggies
  9. i think i heard or read somewhere we offered him 4yrs probably at somewhere near 350-4 which is afl average so you'd assume he'd be getting similar elsewhere. saints also have plenty of money to burn particularly with clark, gresham, zjones all at the end of deals and billings/howard potentially getting the boot too. u also need to pay up to get FA out of clubs so i'd imagine he'd be closer to 450-5 which is similar to what we had harmes on and tommo too for sort of 10-20th players on the list as they were at the time of deal, jordon would be similar at saints, would expect to be in the 22 each week at least for the first season or two
  10. i'm not a watson fan at all, players who dominate at u18s due to their athletic profile nominally i fear struggle to transition to afl level. ie talls look good coz theyre taller/stronger. quicker players look quicker than they might be compared to afl defedners. if NW was to become an elite afl small forward he needs to be an elite tackler? is he that? will his speed which is his number 1 trait that fast. i'd rather McKercher as his foot skills will give us a different look and can fit straight into the line up. and im growing on reid as i've seen what daicos and ashcroft can do when put in the right atmosphere and having him rotating with trac will be lethal in '24 and beyond
  11. was my favourite player on the list there and was desperate for him to get a chance. dissapointed he chose to go, but im loving what he's producing and makes watching giants games all the more fun
  12. i think your forward line needs to compliment what you have up the field, we don't have mcinerney, gulden, blakey, florent hitting [censored] inside 50, we have clarry trac viney may and rivers just hoofing it in, therefore we cant recruit lead up players coz the combination doesnt work. we also have the best 3rd tall forward in the comp in fritsch plus when melky is down there too we have our second lead up type so HJ will take footy away from them and space away from them. we need the top of the goalsquare gorilla to maximise on our 69 mostly ugly i50s
  13. everyone seems to moan about our lack of depth and here we have two mids who are clearly not first choice but are available as required when we lose our first choicers to injury. shouldn't we be pleased that harmes after 10 years has fallen out of the best 22? does that show improvement in our side to some degree
  14. Flynn, Lycett, ladhams for mine due to the ability to actually get them outta there clubs too. No point targetting sweet or strachan as they're the only other ruck on their lists so harder to snare. but also the other options arent proven at afl level so why would we target them, we need a ready made ruck for now which is where flynn lycett and ladhams have runs on the board and can be short term solutions.
  15. tommo will be on less next year 450-500ish than haynes will be 900-1m smoothed down to say 600 for 2-3 years and is oyunger and a different type of player we actually require more (lockdown vs interceptor) so this whole process makes no sense and costs us more plus we'd be giving up a draft pick which is right in the JT TL sweet spot for roughies
  16. Turner replied to old55's topic in Melbourne Demons
would prefer lycett to hayes, better mark and harder to play against as a ruckman, hayes is more your pretty ruckman than ur brute force
  17. draft mckercher at 4 HJ is exactly who we don't need, hes a hipwood-esque lead up player who has reach and leap but JVR does that well already. we need the big top of the goalsquare donkey who can stand there and go shoulder to shoulder with 200cm defenders and hawkins them out of the way and clunk them on the chest or skittles 4 bodies so kozzy has some room to swoop through
  18. the 24 draft is super midfield heavy from early observation. levi ashcroft will obvioulsy be off limits but Vic metros starting midfield this year were all bottom agers, so whilst without a doubt i think we should target a mid this year we should also be looking at two for next year. i also believe one of harmes or jordon will stay
  19. i'd go in for big goober crossley from southport. was the next big thing at gcs until his drug ban, he's only 23 but is a huge boy and would be desperate for any second chance at the level including sitting behind gawn. plus would be 25 by the time gawns body is rooted and can take over for 5-7 years himself as you can never be so sure on young ruck draftees being successes long term and regardless its hard to say either KFW or verrell will be ready in 2 years at 21, not many no1 rucks are
  20. adds some class to the forward half which we werent getting out of spargo in 23 and allows pickett to move up the ground without leaving us weak i50. good tackler too, bargain deal and better suited to our overall list profile than dunstan harmes types who are midfielders only given the strength and versatility of our current best 22 onball with brayshaw and rivers going in when one of the big 3 are out. smart business.
  21. hindsight brigade
  22. a replacement for dunstan/harmes/jordon ie dev rob, beast mode mathieson, parfitt, Ehollands a key forward to play week in week out who is younger ie georgiades, fullarton, riccardi, lewis, allen, lord a ruckman ie lycett, ladhams, mirkov, bryan, flynn, soldo, better tall depth james stewart, ehimmelberg, hamling, burgess, caleb graham, clurey, dougie howard, TOB everyone will be up in arms that theres some NQR players in there but we need mature depth to compete week in week out and if we lose another 3-4 mature players this year on top of the ones we lost last year we start to become thin outside the best 22. draft it's best available particularly inside and outside mids and good users KB and orlando turner as rookies
  23. it's got nothing to do with his kicking being bad and our current mids kicking being bad as why we wouldn't go after him due to his skillset and more the fact that he doesnt offer anything differential to what we have in that position currently. as many have said we need some cream not more scone
  24. wont get 2 years as he'd be 30 at the end of that and we'd hope theres some fresh talent coming through by then but we could give him 1 year and plonk him straight on the LTI list and replace his spot on the list. that way he can use facilities and get good rehab but also we don't lose the list spot. even whack him down on the rookie list and youre paying him outside the salary if hes on chips
  25. If he came for a second rounder given we have a surplus of picks. if we lose harmes and jj on top of dunstan we will require pure midfield depth id be all for it, if it fails nothing lost as he'd be an addition to the current crop rather than the star of the show. i think that's an important differentiation when discussing recruiting from other clubs and expected outputs etc
