  1. go to the rumours thread for that, this thread is a bible
  2. he was playing on irishman mark duffy
  3. a good bridge player for a bottom six side, like cam pedersen was once upon a time to be a battering ram and take heat off some kids, i'm just not sure what he brings to a side already full of seasoned bodies, he isnt a polish cherry on top player like a mannagh or davidson so for mine it was a bit of a nothing selection and if we didn't already have melksham and fritsch (mihoceks recruitment makes it even harder as well) as similarly sized options he'd get more opportunities, the number of games he plays next year will have a direct correlation to how well our season is going. for the teams sake i hope its at or below that 5 mark again, of course I would love to be wrong too
  4. you seem to get a read on these things early, whats prasads range next year? maybe my dovaston love affair is too short sighted
  5. jed walter in darwin would have been my winner
  6. jacob dawson!! you've been watching too much vfl! Jordon dawson is my pick however
  7. i agree with you there, but im saying we had a full list meaning we had excess picks, not necessary that our list was filled with better players meaning we made the right decision to throw away picks, at the very least we should have been pumping them back into the next season and then redeciding then
  8. i think this needs to be put into some sort of perspective. which is we knew how many list spots we had available and we had surplus of picks to spots, therefore we were willing to trade 2 picks (for lions academy points) for one player as we would have passed on the latter pick anyway. likewise why we trade multiple picks for one higher up the order pick, and i like us moving future picks forward as you can always move the ones the next year forward etc etc endlessly forever now
  9. cody curtin kicked 6 goals in the wafl colts granny, i know its not the highest standard of junior comp but given hes probably outside the top 30 prospects, hes 200cm and he wont be too dissimilar to his brother in athletic profile and mentality/professionalism i hope we are seriously considering him
  10. ive been on him all year, tick for mine
  11. Does kiddy coleman get starcevichs spot when he leaves? he was the best player on the ground in the first half of the 23 granny
  12. this narative always confuses me, you mean because he was a less professional athlete for longer hes more likely to last longer as a pro athlete doing the right things to your body? BBB was a mature ager and he barely got to 30. there is no argument here when drafting key forwards they must have mongrel and c*** about them, when theres a pack or a player in front of them or the ball is kicked too them they need to run through anything and everything and attack that ball like they want it. MJ from day 1 has shown no ability to do that, JVR does a little bit but cant get himself higher than any other hands in the pack or enough seperation from his defender. its my biggest concern about White is that he's a basketball two footed jumper, ball on my head and ill mark it because im taller not a see ball recklessly fly at ball KPP
  13. idk who this person is or what they're mail is. for all i know they could just be a fellow DL enjoyer but the mail suggest both of us @spirit of norm smith plucked one each (or theyve read us bang on about the same players over and over again and thats their mail)
  14. steve motlop did this and got a 4 year deal at the cats and then a 4year FA deal at port, best two years he played
  15. seems a weak draft for talls. schubert and CDT the only ones who have raised their stocks this year and we probably aren't in the market for either. I rate Ison/Whan/El Achkar higher than you do I don't mind what Dalton does and Byrne looking at HF options. I think our priorities should be talls if there were any and then small forwards and defenders. Dovaston/Byrne/Pickett Voss/Farrow/Wright If Curtin was available i would jump at him at our second pick in the 30s range otherwise maybe a LeRay type but he feels similar to what we've picked recently in XL and Windsor so you'd be hoping 1 or two of them can transition onto the inside but not everyone can/does
  16. Aug 24th geez i was close, missed Sestan and overshot on Campbell and Henderson. 50:50'd McDonald/Fullarton so I'll half pay it. Got the trades out right when it could have been any or none
  17. tbf i stand by wanting 2MP fir a fourth rounder at 24 from the suns over brown, woulda saved us 3 years of chopping between key forward back up rucks. BBB had a good 4 week stretch, i think 2 metre coulda done the same and more. he won a bnf since 2018 too
  18. i'd say yes good move, but look at may's last month, and BM is only 12 months younger, may has hit a cliff and yes his stremgths were speed and kicking which are very hamstring oriented but mihocek might find it tough after 12 months to contribute, whats your opinion on whether darling has been a success at North
  19. are u describing north or us?!?! eerily similar the way we're building the next generation midfield out again and praying that we can find talls somewhere down the track, good plan on paper but we've spent 5 years showing the competition how hard it is to execute when u arent geelong/pies/hawks/swans/lions
  20. the swans were throwing mccartin and hamling forward and went to the well with ladhams 3 times before they gave him a game, the pies want him to be 38th man on the list, we'd need him to be a walk up start round 1. fits firmly in the fullarton/schache pile for me
  21. Clubs have recently used the rookie draft to 're-draft' players they have recently delisted. Under AFL rules, clubs must have at least three list senior list vacancies in order to take part in the national draft. Before the national draft, clubs will delist a player to open up a senior list spot, but commit to re-drafting that player in the rookie draft. This year, clubs have delisted a total of 16 players and committed to taking them in the rookie draft. afl.com.auAFL Draft explainer: Everything you need to knowCheck out this explainer as the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft approachestaken from a draft explainer on the afl website from last year
  22. so you have to take 3 picks at the draft, if we're bringing in 3 players from other sides, either we need to move 1/2 to the rookie list or maybe we're screwing the giants and waiting for derksen to sign as a SSP as a delisted player onto the rookie list for us after they didnt come to the table last year. but as it stands if we were to sign sinnema and white we would only have 1 live selection. if flanders/windhager comes woey is done unless trac/may leaves too, even then if sinnema is to be signed its probably in place of woey if trac is replaced by flanders. all these scenarios leave us with no train on or MSD slots without a LTI and given its a weaker draft state players will probably be looked at more closely around the competition *i'm not adding OBerry to any list of mine until i see a statement from us regarding him so the other option is Sinnema as a B rookie, pre covid you could have 3 B rookies, maybe thats been reinstated?
  23. did he start well or just start? i thought it was quite obvious in his 5 games what he lacked, his composure was an issue ball in hand making the step up a level, he isnt tough or particularly agile. he's just small. hope he proves me on, but i would have liked to see us reinvest his spot again, jackson voss for example who has shown heaps at vfl level or sinnema, the way i see it we probably pass on toby now
  24. I'm seriously concerned about the age profile of our list when breaking it down positionally. Looking at Freos list they have 10 players 196cm+, a few developing, a few regular seniors and Omac and Reidy (who wants out) as depth. We have 3, two of them are 34yo rucks and one is Jed Adams. OOC in 2026: May, McDonald, Adams who all on form to date would be more unlikely than likely to be signed on (Adams probably gets a 5th!! season as depth due to lack of options. Alongside Turner who is the priority signing of the group then at the other end you have: Jefferson, Kentfield, Johnson, McAdam, Melksham, Fritsch, of which Fritsch definitely deserves 2 years and Kentfield either 1 or 2 depending how he progresses, and then you're either going into year 5 with Jeffo or year 3 with Johnson who have not shown any AFL gamechanging ability, plus a 35yo vet and a 30yo who's injury prone Plus our 34yo only backup ruck. I know that Heath, Derksen, Berry and White somewhat replenish our talls + anyone we sign next year. but we are going into next year with such an inbalanced list profile i think it's one of my larger issues with our list management team. EOS24' we lost Brown, Tomlinson, Smith, Farris-White, Schache all at once, none of them obviously deserved another season but the waves at which we seem to be alternating tall and small and the rate at which they go out and are obviously replaced isnt there. Geelong have for example played Kolodjashnij in the 2s for large parts of teh season because OSullivan has taken his place, Hawk went out Neale came in, Stanley breaks down they have Conway and 2 other developing rucks behind him. We have the guys in the seniors and then no one, if Adams and Jefferson turn out to be busts, we would have one tall under 22yo being Kentfield. We also seemingly threw all our post gawn/jackosn ruck eggs in one 199cm rookies basket rather than taking a few 200+ beanstalks to nuture which seemed like a really odd choice at the time and a bit of a hedging of the bets to either regenerate LJ or repurpose into a KPF. Imagine if we had a Moyle or a Dodson just tearing up the vfl and knowing maxy had trained them up But also Petty is our only tall between 33 and 23 as well, its a bad mix is all im saying. Tall players are some of the most exciting and dominant players and prospects clubs have on their lists and i think the lack of that for us has me quite demoralised, would love a couple of tall 198+ prospects who really attack the footy in the air at vfl level and kick truly to really get behind and get me up and about
  25. if hes leaving hes surely prepared to shed some coin for just a whiff of september footy, and agreed that the role for us is HFF so langdon/sparrow/viney are in the gun there. give X the far wing and then, maybe simpkin can add to that mix as well with culley and windsor/langford whoever else rolls through there
