  1. he would play the Nibbler role perfectly and is a good age bracket massive tick here, second rounder gets it done comfortably, pies seem to have [censored] off a few of their own with 900k deals for perryman etc, macrae and his arrogance is going to tear the place apart, he got lucky he arrived with the list he has, i see a massive cliff forming for the pies in 12-36 months absolutely not, he is just another goer, theres a reason he plays 12 games of vfl a year. where are you playing him? its not third tall back coz thats turner/lever its not third tall forward coz thats fritsch/melksham so its just nothing other than having deledio mention him every couple weeks on his podcast has he shown anything? 3 years unproven, may as well just roll sestan on another 12 months with andy back too theyll have a spot for him with worpel out the door, and a massive watch on Days career, they wont want to lose a good one i do think its scary looking for a skipper beyond gawn, that being said i cant remember the last time lever dominated a game and properly controlled the air, if the roos want to give him 3 years for an early second rounder im snapping their hand off, likewise if he wants to chase a flag somewhere else i wouldnt stop him, its one area of the field we have quality depth in
  2. cant remember where i heard/read it but GWS were named/linked i'd let him walk
  3. it may not be up to them, his value may also never been higher, if he flops or continues to clash with ross and spends another year in the 2s hes worth nearly nothing at least after 3 years he can still move on potential no club really wants to keep an unhappy player. they could lose him and go and get tsatas or hobbs or erasmus for less and might get the same output
  4. Darcy Wilson is a player we should look at with a skill set that is on par with what we're lacking, he is impatient and wants to play but ross has seen flaws in his game (understandable for a young player) and they dont get along overly well (possibly also because wilson hasnt taken the feedback too well) given the draft it is, if we could bring him over its probably worth sacrificing the earliest pick we end up with? could immediately step into a mid rotation rather than being a half forward player
  5. people are pencilling him in for 200 games and the 2030 brownlow, we beat up on a west coast side that is the worst ever. he could easily avg 9 touches and no goals over the next 3 weeks. he has played 12 casey games for 17.7 touches, 3.8 tackles and a total of 4.10 on the scoreboard, no one was asking for his selection for the first 10 weeks he played and with reason, he wasnt impacting, lets just slow down shall we, he deserves to hold his spot this week of course and maybe a 12 month extension is fair if theres enough moving parts elsewhere but lets see what he does next before we get any more carried away
  6. Yeh it was me, it was on a sunday night after a saints game i was leaving work and i think it was finey said it was a done deal essentially, completely blew my socks off as he said it with such confidence without any sort of murmurs previously, if u want to try for the audio i'd say go for the sunday final siren podcast from maybe r18?
  7. this caught my attention only because in a players interview from preseason either this year or last everyones answer to the fastest hands or players hands you'd most want at the club was Bill, i was expecting everyone to say clarry but bill was the players vote almost unanimously. given his size the spargo high HF role always had to be the one he was groomed to but for some reason despite other players like a woey jumping all across the ground around him laurie's magnet has been glued to teh centre square despite such a log jam ahead of him, maybe he was stubborn and said no im a mid ill play mid? but as u say, he was not at all close to a game at his last contract so the 2 years of the same practice has expectedly yeilded the same results
  8. he gets junk disposals, takes kick ins wraps around for handballs and kicks it long, as soon as they rolled him up to the wing he couldn't find it, McCarthy took his spot for a month and now theyve swapped so mccarthy is higher and maric is just kicking it sideways or 50m contest bombs
  9. pleasantly surprised, but he sits within the plodder with below average foot skills category for me. so him langdon viney clarry langford sparrow may work against west coast but against most sides that wont cut it. delivery inside 50 is still a continual unsticking point for the red and blue, having said that Jai did about as much as he could today given the opposition, real test is the next 3 weeks, sink or swim
  10. was so obvious to delist Hore last year take Riak and then rookie AJ... poor once again from Lamb and co. and if no bid u take AJ and then can immediately add Riak as a rookie before the Rookie draft he's already had a 3rd year added by Sydney within two months of being there
  11. quite the fall from grace to not even get a national combine invite, think its 5 noms out of 18 gets you there and 2+ to get a state based invite (dont hold me to those figures) list spots will be fairly tight given the lack of depth so clubs arent going to take many picks to the draft, we can almost rookie him. Sinnema not even invited yet (this was peliminary state noms, more players can be added to that beyond this point. I imagine us and GC17 requested to see KW at the national combine
  12. Culley is 23 at his second club with 20 games at the level, so still doesnt meet ya criteria
  13. @spirit of norm smith my thinking with woey is too vanilla, what are his strengths and what role does he play at afl level and who does he go past the heath links were called out as "done deal" by i think it was Finey on SEN on a sunday night maybe three weeks back, i was listening on my way home, from work maybe 20mins after the final siren (maybe after heaths debut game?) didnt record the audio unfortunately or go back and look too hard for it my issue with targetting these players is theyre just more of the same, theyre somewhere between vfl and afl and dont offer anything different from what we have. realistically a midfield needs 1x DEF minded tackler/first hands operator. for us this is Viney/Oliver/Langford the perfect example is Geelong Atkins and youve named Brodie/Davies/Hustwaite 1x kicker we have nil but maybe Lindsay/Windsor, this is Holmes 1x burst "striker" Petracca/Kozzy/Rivers? who dont deliver it particularly well but exit with power and intent Danger/BaileySmith the dogs use Libba/Richards/Bont suns its rowell/anderson/touk (second two fairly interchangeable lions its dunkley/clug/washcroft I like your mention of Pedlar offers more than Spargo and Sharp imo, Lord i woulda mentioned 12 months ago but jsut doesnt seem to have the minerals to really smash a pack. i wish we'd targetted Peter Wright instead of BBB all those years ago when both moved for 4th rounders despite the flag Wright would be 28 now same age bracket as our core for the last 3 years and would protect JVR/MJ and allow Petty to play back, coulda been such an enabling piece of the puzzle Walsh's back is [censored]ed dont go near him fritsch is the one u have to keep of all the 25+ yo we have, he is too good on his day and in the right system will thrive and young enough to still have 5-7 years ahead of him look at gunston and what hes doing
  14. Key Defenders: May, Petty, Turner, Adams, Derksen, White General Def: Lever, McVee, Salem, Bowey, Moniz-Wakefield (A), Howes, Sestan (A) Midfielders: Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Rivers, Windsor, Langdon, Langford, Sparrow, Lindsay, Laurie, Sinnema Rucks: Gawn, Heath General Fwd: Fritsch, Pickett, Chandler, Melksham, Sharp, Tholstrup, Johnson, McAdam, KBrown (A), Mentha (B), Rosas, Dovaston Key Forwards: van Rooyen, Jefferson, Kentfield (A) OUT: McDonald, Hore, Billings, Woewodin, Culley, Campbell, Verrall, Spargo, Henderson, Fullarton Anyone in italics I'd listen to offers on Bold are the ins i want or have been speculated Sestan, Kynan Brown survive but only just, key forward cupboard is so bare and only the first 4 of currently listed forwards are actually capable afl players
  15. Culley, Henderson, Billings, Hore, Fullarton kind of mature? The one thing you notice about geelong or collingwood is they keep afl capable players around and cut from the fringes. we shed in the 15-25 zone and then dont have capable players coming in. Harmes, Jordon, Bedford, Nibbler even Hunt were all capable players. they make decisions on rookies after 1-2 years and they've never been burnt by this Now we have 3-4 year players with zero afl experience which typically means they haven't been good enough to warrant a game. Howes just signed up to finish his 6th season!!! Has anyone seen anything in his 20 afl games to justify a 6 year career. Has Spargo done anything since '21 to justify another 2 years? (I just presume that one will happen) Do we give Sestan or Verrall or Woewodin another 12 months after they've not broken into a side sitting 15th! Verrall can't even get the number 1 ruck spot off Campbell in the magoos and is so undersized for the modern game as a ruckman so whats his role coz he has hardly shot the lights out as a 3rd year key forward either? we're afraid to make change and cut our losses. We should be making 12-14 list changes this year (AFL avg is 8 + we need to shed 2 extras for the LTI replacements we had)
  16. its absolutely shameless by simon sparrow spargo petty in sharp kolt may out i dont get it, have any of them done enough to come back in, not really you have to say.i hope petty is down back and stays there and mcdonald goes out when mays back. spargo and sparrow get gifted games like no one else and with no repurcussions anymore, sharp genuinely offers more than them both and hits the scoreboard more regularly and honestly why did we recruit culley and henderson in preseason to play them for 0 and 5 games, if theyre so not at the level and youve had one of them training for preseason and has 4 years afl experience and the other is 25 with years of exposed vfl form, you just have to get those picks right who impact at afl level otherwise why are we not adding two more 18 year olds who we can actually develop to be better players in 12 months than they are now
  17. he does some things well and looks like he could be toby greene or danger/stringer at HF and then he looks like sparrow/viney/langdon at HF where theres no scoreboard impact and not much stoppage impact and you are a professional tennis net. yes its possinly the least rewarding role in footy but when someone does it well, nibbler, chandler now i think is doing fairly well. heeney dusty its very good. so on the sparrow to heeney scale hes more sparrow, and i prefer sparrow
  18. no doubt, but he's a limited footballer and im not sure what his role is in the seniors as not a key tall and behind fritsch and melky as a third tall. he has limited skills and is suited to lower skilled football where bash and crash becomes more prevalent and gets found out and lost a bit when the game moves quickly. a good possibly great vfl footballer but i havent seen anything from his chances at afl level to date, or most vfl games (he was playing on an irishman v carlton) to justify his selection at the point in the season over younger prospects with higher ceiling
  19. new name to throw into the mix, i like what luke nankervis has done in limited opportunities at the crows, has been playing forward recently in the sanfl to try and get him back in the ones but his work at HB and on the wing has been fairly decent in my opinion... haven't actually gone to the stats yet
  20. I really really want us to get up to Lachy Dovaston as a small forward who kicks goals and can work up the ground Secondly Sam Cumming is my next option as just a nice kicker then you throw in Sinnema and White and maybe a new developing ruck or FB and thats a good mix i realise getting dovaston and cumming is a massive ask but at this stage my knowledge deeper into the draft isnt there
  21. its time this week, but they probably go AJ dont they
  22. Gruzewski is only listed at 192 he works next to cadman and hogan or even one of them and the irishman brown but him JVR and MJ have an average height of 193 thats just not gonna cut it in 2025. Look at who is dominating the next decade, Kings, Darcy, Cadman, Thilthorpe, Jamarra the shortest of them is 195 and the tallest is 200+. and then you have guys like Lobb, SDK, Zach Reid, Wil Dawson who are all huge too at the other end of the field, our guys just dont have the reach or leap like a Jack Riewoldt or Aaron Naughton has to actually get up and over a pack, JVR just jumps into them at best, doesnt get his hands above and MJ only marks them on his chest on his own (and even then he drops them) Did anyone here the SEN clip on sunday night post game Finey i think it was basically said we had Max Heath the saints ruck who debuted two weeks ago on the hook done deal. Makes sense he'd want out given TDKs arrival, Dodsons VFL form and Boyd/Marshall on the list too. I havent seen enough to have an opinion on him other than a 204cm guy at 22yo is good depth and has upside as a low cost option. Could mean the end for Verrall who at 199 doesnt really mark heaps of footy around the ground, doesnt really kick goals resting forward and also for TC who has had real body issues this year at 34yo as good a clubman as he is
  23. I think in previous years, particularly when we've been winning selection integrity has lacked and there have been some passengers but i think for the most part this year goodwin has got it right. Fullarton got his go - didnt get it right, Billings has had chances didnt get it right, Lever was rightly dropped when his impact tailed off Given there are 6 rounds to go and finals are out of the equation i dont think selection integrity is about who is in form in the VFL but is more about who will take this club forward next year. Windsor, Tholstrup, JVR, MJ are the ones we have invested high picks in and have seen mixed results from so lets give them 6 weeks to find their feet at the level and give them a platform to attack preseason in. I wouldn't be surprised if Sestan or Kentfield find themselves a game before years end. Spargo is the only one i think we have truly mismanaged this year and frankly im glad he's being made to earn his spot now as he has always been one who has been gifted games, likewise i think Sparrows concussion as nasty as it was will be a blessing in disguise for the side. He was not performing to the levels he should have been as a prospective CB midfielder or as a high half forward. I would prefer he came back through the magoos and we let Langford, Langdon and Viney rotate through that HF spot with Sharp and Tholstrup also given opportunities. Sharp for his limitations as a player i think has more consistently performed his role and impacted on the scoreboard as a HF than Sparrow has in '25. For this week, McDonald, Lever, Sparrow OUT. Petty (DEF), May, Sharp (sub) IN
  24. opportunity youd have to assume, maybe getting a better wicket too
  25. In terms of senior players you'd have to shop about Lever (Turners role now) May (get Petty back there asap + Derksen coming in in TMacs place) Sparrow/Langdon - no room for them both and Viney at HF and you aren't trading the VC Spargo - i actually want to know the stats on times mentioned in best players / games played at AFL level Oliver - hurts coz he was a star but writing is on the wall now and its Langford / Rivers spot Hore/Billings/McAdam/Henderson/Culley/Fullarton all signed as mature agers in the last 24 months and have been busts coulda been 6 kids thought id throw my 2 cents in
