  1. Our 22 next year is starting to look extremely dire, we keep losing players in the 23-28 range who are starters or on the cusp with scope to break in and have struggled to replenish that age bracket through trade ins, whilst subsequently our 28+ cohort keeps ageing and our draftees whilst some have shown promise and genuine scope for stardom others have been allowed to plod along because the unforced exits have afforded them lifelines. Jefferson, Adams, Howes, Laurie, AMW should all be playing for their careers next year but given the ages of McDonald, Melksham, Campbell, May, McAdam of which supposedly ONLY melksham is best 22 next year thats already 5 exits, and then you have Henderson and Johnson who are sort of nothing almost desperate selections hits in hope without any outstanding AFL traits its a really bad spot for our list to be in, i think we could be 5-7 years away from competing 2026 Key Defenders: May, Petty, Turner, McDonald, Adams, Derksen, Berry (B) General Def: Lever, Salem, Bowey, Moniz-Wakefield (A), Howes, Midfielders: Pickett, Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Rivers, Windsor, Langdon, Langford, Lindsay, Laurie, Culley (A), Woewodin, Sinnema Rucks: Gawn, Campbell, Heath General Fwd: Fritsch, Chandler, Melksham, Sparrow, Sharp, Tholstrup, Johnson, Henderson (A), McAdam, Mentha (B) Key Forwards: Mihocek, van Rooyen, Jefferson, Kentfield (A), White, i suspect lindsay makes a fletcher-esque move to HB next year and i think there are real genuine warning signs around what rivers does either next year or in 2027 when he's OOC. Lever Petty Turner Salem Bowey Lindsay Langdon? Viney Culley? Fritsch Mihocek Chandler Melksham? JVR/Kentfield? Pickett Gawn Oliver Langford Windsor Rivers AMW/Howes? Sparrow?/Kolt? Sharp?/Draftee?
  2. i wonder if he played a good game coz it was against us rather than it being a him factor
  3. plays ahead of worner, banfield and wagner, and honestly chapman is a bit eh too but at least doesnt whinge about doing the team thing and locking down, and he was a top 10 pick! howes is no better than a vfl plodder, and is going to be gifted games on teh basis that everyone around him is falling away, has nothing going for him that suggests he is afl standard. I like the cooper simpson shouts, but LJ is the play here, i think we are a massive sniff if we play our cards right
  4. egg on a few faces in here... 🙈
  5. did he show any improvement this year? isnt tough, isnt good defensively, isnt good aerially, and isnt quick, if howes is a regular next year its a concern for me
  6. i think he'll be strongly tempted with a move home in two years, he seems to always be sniffing around one whiff of midfiekd minutes and he'll be off, likely will be the same time JOM is ready to hang them up for the dockers
  7. which would be so hilarious, and i'd have a tough time feeling sorry for them when its their own doing. Hopefully SOS never comes near our beautiful club
  8. given how well SA went at the carnival im surprised at the lack of noise around a few of theirs LeRay being the main one
  9. has no real strengths, no outstanding phsyical traits, the worst type of player to be as you are the most easily replaceable in the 22 and on the list with a younger prospect. taj has been tried across all three lines and is a serviceable vfl player, i love the romanticism of a FS recruit so hopefully if he survives he can find a niche and thrive on it, the same way a maginess or west has elsewhere
  10. if my nan had wheels and all that
  11. i thought he was taller than 194, if he was 197+ i'd be an extra 20% more excited but none the less i hope we see him R1
  12. go to the rumours thread for that, this thread is a bible
  13. he was playing on irishman mark duffy
  14. a good bridge player for a bottom six side, like cam pedersen was once upon a time to be a battering ram and take heat off some kids, i'm just not sure what he brings to a side already full of seasoned bodies, he isnt a polish cherry on top player like a mannagh or davidson so for mine it was a bit of a nothing selection and if we didn't already have melksham and fritsch (mihoceks recruitment makes it even harder as well) as similarly sized options he'd get more opportunities, the number of games he plays next year will have a direct correlation to how well our season is going. for the teams sake i hope its at or below that 5 mark again, of course I would love to be wrong too
  15. you seem to get a read on these things early, whats prasads range next year? maybe my dovaston love affair is too short sighted
  16. jed walter in darwin would have been my winner
  17. jacob dawson!! you've been watching too much vfl! Jordon dawson is my pick however
  18. i agree with you there, but im saying we had a full list meaning we had excess picks, not necessary that our list was filled with better players meaning we made the right decision to throw away picks, at the very least we should have been pumping them back into the next season and then redeciding then
  19. i think this needs to be put into some sort of perspective. which is we knew how many list spots we had available and we had surplus of picks to spots, therefore we were willing to trade 2 picks (for lions academy points) for one player as we would have passed on the latter pick anyway. likewise why we trade multiple picks for one higher up the order pick, and i like us moving future picks forward as you can always move the ones the next year forward etc etc endlessly forever now
  20. cody curtin kicked 6 goals in the wafl colts granny, i know its not the highest standard of junior comp but given hes probably outside the top 30 prospects, hes 200cm and he wont be too dissimilar to his brother in athletic profile and mentality/professionalism i hope we are seriously considering him
  21. ive been on him all year, tick for mine
  22. Does kiddy coleman get starcevichs spot when he leaves? he was the best player on the ground in the first half of the 23 granny
  23. this narative always confuses me, you mean because he was a less professional athlete for longer hes more likely to last longer as a pro athlete doing the right things to your body? BBB was a mature ager and he barely got to 30. there is no argument here when drafting key forwards they must have mongrel and c*** about them, when theres a pack or a player in front of them or the ball is kicked too them they need to run through anything and everything and attack that ball like they want it. MJ from day 1 has shown no ability to do that, JVR does a little bit but cant get himself higher than any other hands in the pack or enough seperation from his defender. its my biggest concern about White is that he's a basketball two footed jumper, ball on my head and ill mark it because im taller not a see ball recklessly fly at ball KPP
  24. idk who this person is or what they're mail is. for all i know they could just be a fellow DL enjoyer but the mail suggest both of us @spirit of norm smith plucked one each (or theyve read us bang on about the same players over and over again and thats their mail)
  25. steve motlop did this and got a 4 year deal at the cats and then a 4year FA deal at port, best two years he played
