  1. i heard he was asking for 4yrs, you'd assume thats 4yrs at 300k which is average and then bonuses and clauses related to games played and bnf taking him further from there which is perfectly reasonable for him, think similar to marlion pickett/kamdyn mcintosh at richmond but hes getting security on career. other clubs probably offer him 400 + bonuses, id be reluctant as him to assume im going into anyones best 22 with any sort of permanency. the interested clubs essendon: zerrett, parish, hobbs, perkins, setterfield, tsatas so he's ahead of shiel MAYBE setterfield with another top 10 pick this season and in future years gcs: Rowell, anderson, touk and then top picks davies, hollands, flanders + swallow and then academy players and top picks to come hes outside the starting square there too and swans: gulden, rowbum, parker, mills, chad so he's at least 6th there too without pinch hitters or pick 4 this year. if i'm him id trust the process where i am and maybe look around again in another 2-3 years if its still 12-15 games a season or less
  2. accolades have nothing to do with it tho, its purely financial and the dons have the coin and the roos will let him walk, if the roos were top 4 and the pick was 15 people would be far less, not entirely but far less up in arms its just the way the system works at the moments and thats the fact of it
  3. baz or reid, for mine. Reid
  4. only 2 sides have one flags from outside top 4 in whatever the exact number of years is but its like 25 or something. essentially finishing 5-8 IS your wildcard entry to finals
  5. it's two if they make finals 3 if they miss
  6. Finn Macrae of collingwood or elijah hollands would be younger alternatives too. Beast mode mathieson as an older body too who's great for culture around the club. Or a reid type ;)
  7. sounds like a draft we should be bailing on, imo. we're tight as for spots even compared to next year with age profile and importance of the ooc players. and we should be looking to move our early picks to then. aside from Reid, Walter, Mckercher, Sanders i'm not very impressed by first round. Watson has been decent but Caddy and Duursma are flashy and i worry about consistency and how it transfers to afl level. also the entire Vic Metro midfield was bottom agers this season so next year looks the way to go
  8. I agree, said similarly to dad the other day, he just doesn't seem to be a super contested type yes he was near contests but he isn't winning first hands at all hes just moving through i was actually more impressed by his run and kicking and thought small back would be more suitable I disagree that their list is anywhere near where it should be and would even go as far as saying they will get worse next year. Just because WCE have been so awful everyone assumes NM are more than a year into their rebuild. Ziebell, Hall, Greenwood, Cunnington, Goldstein, Shiels, Turner, Howe have combined for far more games than they should've imo, they need a hawthorn esque transition or they'll be nowhere. I also think Simpkin is extremely overrated so we'll see how they progress I'd be steering well clear of Curtain, yes he could be Bont/Cripps or he could be Lukosius but for me a player who doesnt have a settled position ends up with no position. Ask Jarrod Brander or Nik Cox who are toillers because are they building their frames to play in a key post or are they staying lean to be a mid but in the end they do half of both and don't progress and get moved on
  9. IN: JVR, Spargo (sub), Oliver (please) OUT: Smith, Chandler, Fritsch Melky stays in for game 100 as a dee as does Brown in better conditions and Harmes as theres no value to flipping he and Jordon every single week. Grundy would be an out for me too but they just won't do it Ideally it would be this IN; JVR, Spargo, Oliver, Jordon (sub) OUT: Smith, Chandler, Fritsch, Grundy
  10. He just didn't look likely today at all. Obviously the conditions were not suited, it's unfortunate fritsch succumbed to the foot when he did as i rkn Brown or grundy was prime to be subbed off otherwise. but BBB just cannot get himself off the ground to outreach opponents nor can he get enough seperation on the lead to actually use his workrate and take uncontensted marks as he used to do in his prime at NM. it's an awkward one where he offers more if he can get the football than Grundy the forward but probably in tandem with JVR but also they won't just drop grundy no matter how uninfluential he is. and BBB is obviously far more threatening than Schache at AFL level too.
  11. can't remember if i saw it on here or twitter but someone said something about WCE offering up next years future 1st for a top 5 pick this year, it'll still be pick one but will help them get reid and curtin. Next year will have will ashcroft -tied, tyler welsh -tied and the other two young metro mids who are currently starring you'd imagine will go highly compared to teh country/WA combo they could be looking at this year, in terms of long term retention it could be the smarter business play to take the risk.
  12. dare i ask what year layzie, i too
  13. Probably one of Naughton or Darcy settles down back, given the merry-go-round that is Keath, Gardner, TOB, Bruce leaves plenty of room for Jamarra, Lobb, +1 down forward, lobb and jones are also 30+ already too one of their academy players Reid, is a ruckman plus they're massive on Moyle played twice earlier this year 100kgs at 21 he's only going to get stronger and craftier over the next 2 years and will be ready to take the mantle
  14. [censored] whys everyone ripping ya, i like ya tats, @ashdotk or @biancamasci on ig do a good job, i also like the work of the guys at the dark essence studio too
  15. I'd have Allen at 1, if not 2 on this list and would argue he'd be just as gettable, the eagles need the draft currency
  16. Dev robertson is making his first starting appearance too this week, he is a WA boy but the word is he'd rather a move to victoria and has many clubs interested. hard to see how he fits with us atm similar to brissie but should harmes/dunstan/jordon move on he'd be a good get at 21yo
  17. As the season progresses, i always find myself scouring the competition for opportunities we could pounce on or we might be realistically thinking about. Obviously our needs sit in the key positions stocks primarily and whilst we'd love a Larkey/Allen/Lewis/BKing to walk our way and lead us to number 14 or a BMcKay/Himmelberg to sign as a FA to sure up the defence. Likely we will look for some sneaky bargains and some astute pieces of business. I want to use this thread to spitball players who could play a part for us but might not be the big name signing that headlines the window. The dogs, as has been well documented are well stocked in the KPP department. I did a little list break down with the players in orange out of contract at the end of the season. Key Defenders: LJones, Darcy, Keath, Gardner, Bruce, O’Brien, Busslinger, O’Donnell (B) Key Forwards: Lobb, Naughton, Ugle-Hagan for me given the likelyhood Tomlinson has a look around again, and honestly even if he doesn't we should be having a discussion on whichever of Keath, Bruce and TOB the dogs move along. The ideal one is Bruce, being the youngest of the three and having the most upside given the recency of his peak performances as well as his ability to be the best swingman/forward of the three however i wouldn't begrudge us moving for Keath either as a semi reliable squad player to call upon the way we do with Tomlinson now. the second player who has caught my eye in the last fortnight has been Tim Membrey. Whilst he is best suited to the 2nd or 3rd tall position i think he has the mobility and ability to provide us with a nice lead up and high marking target with a really safe pair of hands and a strong work rate. Since recovering from injury he has been unable to force his way past King and Camaniti into the Saints best side and could be a stop gap option at only 29 years of age to take the pressure off JVR for a couple of years as we can no longer reliably call upon either TMac or BBB.
  18. imv this seems like a really weak draft, understanding we're many months out and champs are just about to kick off, but not hearing the same excitement and conviction about top 10 prospects as we have in previous years outside of Reid, listening to this weeks gettable podcast twomey has sold me on us playing a part in trading for pick 1 but not in the way we'd expect, using out first round picks to move for experienced senior players ie a barrass/allen or a larkey/lewis/mckay or a mking who can fill a need immediately and help get pick 1 from the eagles to elsewhere and load them up with multiple first round selections. The other option which appeals to me would be to move our picks back to next year as we also don't have as many obvious contracted exits this seaosn and should we pick up ky brown as expected and now Orlando turner being on the radar too we'd only be required to make one open pick. whereas next year we seem to have more decisions to make given our current fringe/young mob would be 3-4 year players by then and our tall veterans an extra year older and ooc. As we know JT and lamby are always cooking up something nice behind the scenes

  20. i mean every national draftee gets a minimum 2yr deal naturally so it's not extortionate to allow 2 18yo's the same just coz they were drafted a day later particularly given their player types and youth pathways respectively. alos the club has to have 4-6 rookies and we aren't going to draft 4 every single year are we so may as well tie a few up each year and give them a chance to develop properly otherwise whats the point at all.
  21. Not going to argue specifics but i think you're heavily overestimating on a few here, imo fritsch wouldn't be on any more than 5-550 salem 550-6 fairly certain BBB is on more like 400 because we gave him extra length on his roos deal, at the most its 500 i don't think we'd be going over this season and if as you say contracted players were to leave i don't think we'd pay a cent for them to move. Realistically we're discussing harmes and tommo here. they want opportunity and career longevity, that is why they'll potentially move. oppo club comes to them and says we see you're on 500 for next season and don't have a deal in place for 2025 right now. Here's a 3yr deal till 2026. you get 400 every season, so yes were taking 100 off you next year but you're getting it back and some plus you have a place to play and an extra 2 years you didn't otherwise have and were no certainty to get at the dees. that is legitimately how contracts in trading works, it's how it worked when we lured BBB across as he was well paid by norf on his expiring deal but they only wanted to give him 1-2 years longer and how geelong could afford bowes, and how will brodie fitted in at freo. but the giving club doesn't pay any of the $ but the player gets it in career length rather than a 1 year longer and out of the system type set up
  22. Oscar Allen for mine, followed by Larkey, lewis still a way behind them both in the "best young key forward" debate
  23. I actually really like the suggestion... its fair and makes sense and its not garanteeing players go one way or the other but also for players like hugh greenwood or liam jones who may not ever play 100 games at one club but could play 100 games of league footy their kids being eligible for tasmania seems like a fair negotiation
  24. Has been named to play for the Vic Metro side in the Young guns game against U20s who have missed out on recent drafts, good chance to once again face some slightly bigger bodies and put his name in front of a crowd full of recruiters. Did we hear back about how he went?
