Selection Integrity
I think in previous years, particularly when we've been winning selection integrity has lacked and there have been some passengers but i think for the most part this year goodwin has got it right. Fullarton got his go - didnt get it right, Billings has had chances didnt get it right, Lever was rightly dropped when his impact tailed off Given there are 6 rounds to go and finals are out of the equation i dont think selection integrity is about who is in form in the VFL but is more about who will take this club forward next year. Windsor, Tholstrup, JVR, MJ are the ones we have invested high picks in and have seen mixed results from so lets give them 6 weeks to find their feet at the level and give them a platform to attack preseason in. I wouldn't be surprised if Sestan or Kentfield find themselves a game before years end. Spargo is the only one i think we have truly mismanaged this year and frankly im glad he's being made to earn his spot now as he has always been one who has been gifted games, likewise i think Sparrows concussion as nasty as it was will be a blessing in disguise for the side. He was not performing to the levels he should have been as a prospective CB midfielder or as a high half forward. I would prefer he came back through the magoos and we let Langford, Langdon and Viney rotate through that HF spot with Sharp and Tholstrup also given opportunities. Sharp for his limitations as a player i think has more consistently performed his role and impacted on the scoreboard as a HF than Sparrow has in '25. For this week, McDonald, Lever, Sparrow OUT. Petty (DEF), May, Sharp (sub) IN

opportunity youd have to assume, maybe getting a better wicket too

Trade Targets
In terms of senior players you'd have to shop about Lever (Turners role now) May (get Petty back there asap + Derksen coming in in TMacs place) Sparrow/Langdon - no room for them both and Viney at HF and you aren't trading the VC Spargo - i actually want to know the stats on times mentioned in best players / games played at AFL level Oliver - hurts coz he was a star but writing is on the wall now and its Langford / Rivers spot Hore/Billings/McAdam/Henderson/Culley/Fullarton all signed as mature agers in the last 24 months and have been busts coulda been 6 kids thought id throw my 2 cents in

Cooper Harvey contract status
think this is more an us lockdown issue rather than a Harvey coming of age situation

ACL surgery for Andy Moniz-Wakefield
Agree with most of the last posts, genuinely said to my old man last week that if the Judd murmours turn out to be true i dont think it is the biggest loss. With Windsor and Bowey you have two gun HBs, we obviously can't trust Salem's body and maybe he is one that moves up to the wing to be more a contest player like Brayshaw was and Lindsay goes back but AMW absolutely can be a proper lockdown defender, we let Cooper Harvey sit 4 on us for gods sake.

Can we talk about Kolt?
What i find interesting is this thread began with comparisons to Tapscott and is currently comparing him to Nibbler but no one has mentioned Chandler. I think that is the most similar profile currently. Chandler was afforded 3 years at Casey without debut, came in and I wasn't sold, was a small forward without much goal sense or creativity, tackled a bit. But he has offered a much better showing up the ground as a more mature body and with an improved work rate he still tackles and has a good enough step to get the ball out into some space. Do i think he will ever be a 200 gamer, unlikely, will he ever finish higher than 5-10 in a BnF probably/hopefully not. But he is at least a serviceable 15-30 player on the list. Kolt probably has that sort of career in him if he can work on his obvious deviciencies. Do i think he would be better served playing inside mid in the VFL for the rest of the season. Probably. is there anyone I'd rather see in the side for the next 6 weeks, Sharp yes, Windsor yes, Pup at least for a few games, he might be an ordinary kick but his tackle pressure i am a fan of. Spargo, Hendo, Culley, Johnson dont bother. and i dont see how we can continue to play Sparrow/Viney/Oliver/Langdon all in the same side if we're giving Langford/Lindsay/Windsor the wing rotations

Welcome Back to Demonland Marty Hore
Hate to knock a good bloke when hes down but the list management decision to re-sign him last year, pass on Riak Andrew (who Swom have already extended out for a 3rd year) and not use the rookie spot on AJ instead of the ND pick, was poor forward thinking and overly optimistic on our chances this year

Trade Targets
100% agreed SONS, you'd do worse than give him 12 months but i am firmly of the belief that we can only play one of sparrow and viney in the side, we just don't get enough scoring from our forward line. particularly if lindsay and windsor are wing/HB options for the future and langdon is gonna be playing HF tagging HBs. other options around the comp? none come to mind. i woulda been interested in reville before he signed on with brissie yesterday, mclachlan maybe? behind a few, butler at the hawks? dovaston is a draft prospect who was MSD eligible i really woulda liked to have seen tariek newchurch in action during his 3yrs at the crom but didnt get a look and is back at community level now - still think he could play at the level in a dudley-esque role

The List Manager
Think most people are pretty well aligned here, For me only one of Sparrow or Viney can be in the side as they offer the same amounts of nothing, tackling pressure yes, disposal efficiency no, goal awareness as a resting fwd nothing As a 25yo myself I'm so jealous of teams who have 1 club legends to reflect on like Geelong, Hawks, Pies. It's why I've always been desperate to see Clarry be a dee for life, but the smart footballing decision is to move on from him. Trac, Rivers, Pickett, ??Bergman??, Sparrow/Viney, Windsor/Lindsay and Langford offers you enough depth there. Tmac for Derksen is an easy direct swap, and Petty is an AA FB once May retires and he gets a proper go in the role. The worst thing we can do is give Spargo 2 years coz we feel sorry for him being injured and give Henderson/Culley another chance to prove their worth as late additions to the list. Mature bodies sure, upside nothing

Josh Mahoney to depart Essendon.
Feel like he's failed everywhere hes been?

The List Manager
What would you do if you were the list manager this year? Who retires? Who is delisted? Who is pushed for trade? For me Retire: Billings, Campbell Delist: Culley, Henderson, Fullarton, Hore, Woewodin, McAdam Trade/FA: Spargo, Laurie

Welcome to Demonland: Blake Howes
Defensively Howes is a liability, regularly lead to the footy by his man, ineffective in the air (compared to Lever who is the same size and build) and not strong enough in the tackle, he's a ball in hand footballer but does he A) find it enough at afl level to maximise his useage or B) use it better than May, Bowey, Salem McVee who currently are responsible for moving it out of defence? If its a lockdown spot thats their for the taking then next year AMW will be back ahead of him there as well, plus Windsor has spent time there. Not my cup of tea and if we were to resign him it should be for 12 months at best, but I'd prefer to see Sestan get an AFL chance to see how he compares to the level compared to Howes who we know what we get with when he plays.

The Toby Sinnema Thread
A shout i've seen believe it was in the afl.com article related to each clubs feedback on academies is any undrafted NGA eligible player can be signed by any club as catB. currently it still has to be from within your own zone, recently we've brought through AMW but thats it as a catB indigneous player whilst WCE have had 4-5 listed and shuffled them to A rookies and essendon and collingwood and gcs have heavily multicultural zones currently provided larger numbers. if we could "poach" or more free-ly list these players it would solve some of the problems related to decreasing numbers at the pro level and make it a more worthwhile investment for the afl and clubs

Archie Walsh - 2025 F/S Potential
Might be walsh or woewodin next year Taj just doesnt have enough to differentiate himself to make the step up to afl. what are hi strengths what does he bring to the side that soneone else doesnt. until he works out what this is there isnt a spot for him. will be up against it at EOS i suspect
-
Spargo, Sharp or Culley???????
They really need to play Culley in that role at vfl level rather than as an inside mid. need to see his forward craft and lead up movements coz thats where the opening will come in the senior team. will be disappointed if we have added him onto the list as another dunstan rather than leaving a spot for MSD or taking a player with upside like yze or this caleb lewis monster as examples Spargo was ok on the weekend i thought from watching but 7 touches and 1 tackle just isnt enough, agree re sharp but both are ahead of henderson for mine. a position we really need to find options in at the draft or around the league. Luke Pedlar maybe? We need to have a ping at zac bailey as a FA next year these are facts but aren't actually reflective on current output or definitive of a player either. i could also tell you sharp was a grand final sub and spargo has played 5 games in the last 18 months.

Tom Fullarton
Not sure if anyone else watched Kalani yesterday. but your basketball point is very valid. given as he didnt see a minute of rucking he just doesnt attack the footy, just stands with his arms up being tall, wouldn;'t be surprised if he falls to a rookie pick. definitely not the great white hope he has been pegged as for the lasdt few years

Archie Walsh - 2025 F/S Potential
MELBOURNEArchie Walsh■ Son of Melbourne and Port Adelaide defender Peter Walsh ■ 180cm midfielder/half-back ■ SANFL team: West Adelaide ■ 2025 statistics: Five under-18s games (25.4 disposals, 7.2 marks, 3.6 tackles, 5.4 inside 50s, 97.6 ranking points) ■ West Adelaide under-18 coach Russell Godson says: “He spent a week with the Demons in February, which he really enjoyed. He’s an unbelievably hard worker with very good endurance who wins our 2km time trial. He can win contests. He’s historically played as a midfielder but for his development we’ve put him as a high defender this season. Similarly to his dad, he rarely gets beaten in a contest, is excellent one-on-one and is very consistent.” ■ Recruiter says: “He’s a hard-at-it, dependable midfielder.” West Adelaide duo Lukas Eagleton and Archie Walsh only qualify at the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne respectively despite their dads’ history with the Power. Eagleton’s dad, Nathan, played 56 games for Port and 221 for the Dogs, while Walsh’s father, Peter, recorded 35 matches for the Power and 104 for the Demons.

Tom Fullarton
it's not always about selection, fwiw i was at geelong in r3, but also giving JVR the chance to go back for two weeks kick a couple bags of 3, clunk a few marks and get his confidence up then come back into the 1s and do teh same.

Potential Father Son Prospect Noah Yze
yep, same way swans listed indi kirk and freo listed jaren carr after their draft years

Trade Targets
Yuck, looked awful against us in the VFL few weeks back. Pedlar was raised as gettable this week, similar position to Sharp in terms of where he is in the Crows list profile and age, do we give him two years? Given Billings, Spargo, Melksham, Henderson, Brown, Culley are all OOC (and surely we pay out Laurie and McAdam), we're surely looking to make significant personnel changes in the HFF areas. Pedlar has also moved through the middle, similar to Sparrow or ANB in that sense? (of that lot only Brown i'd keep on / maybe Culley).
