  1. but u cant say "all our targets have been hits" if ur only gonna look at the hits thats just stupid! doesn't make sense
  2. ben kennedy, pat mckenna, harley balic, corey wagner, viv mitchie, bugg... we've had some stinkers
  3. everyone does seem to forget the players we're after that we don't get or the ones we're linked to that never really take off, it makes any clubs trade hall seem better than it is. i dont have any exact examples but as a blanket rule
  4. castagna (i rkn hes sh1 t but they think otherwise), rioli, aarts, stack, bolton say hi if spargo isn't a small idk who is - although agree jury is out, jones, sparrow and baker are most definitely midfielders. however i agree i'd rate higgins above all bar fritsch in that group
  5. everyone says he has to go out on his own terms, but surely it was the right move this year he would have known that, hes 6th banana, he's slowed right down and he's being cheeky sucking extra years out of us because he knows we know we cant force him out. its obviously a difficult one for club but im concerned especially if it costs us the development of a youngster
  6. im convinced petty is a defender
  7. guess we will know by then how sparrow, petty, jordon came on, lockhart might be on the brink given his age at that time he'll wanna be well and truly embedded, i agree hibbo will get to '22, i have hopes for spargo, bedford & hore too but we'll see.
  8. given what he's gonna cost as a rookie i believe he'll be there next year as depth for sure
  9. would be pretty cool on the back of the colar even if not visible to the cameras at least for the player to kinda keep in touch with their cap, cam mooneys forearm tattoo i think has some reference to his number and career at the cats and in cricket it is a really prominent part of being in the team. virat kohli and many others have tattoos referencing it. https://afltables.com/afl/stats/alltime/melbourne.html this has the function to sort by cap #
  10. 2021 looks like a pretty straight forward list of exits... jones, jetta, kk, vanders, nibbler, jsmith, and one or two of the stragglers from this season who are yet to re-sign
  11. whether we do or not tippa better be a target next year, we gotta get him off that sinking ship
  12. spoilt for depth maybe... but so are we, i mean dean kent played more games than not this year for them so they can definitely fit him in the 22
  13. want him and richmond are sensible wouldn't cost more than a 3rd rounder, maybe a pick we get in for any of our departees depending when they all fall... somewhere between 45-70 or even 4th round-third round swapsies
  14. higgins or maybe i'd consider narkle more suited to this role? also i'm concerned that there are some really good smalls available or at least unsigned and @Dr evilhas flagged hind as the one we're most into and having conversations with. any or all of aarts, ronke, lachie schultz, brad close i'd rank ahead of hind...
  15. i wouldn't go as far as next years first round but if we can sell the idea that theres less academy players next year they should take that second rounder we should because, clubs will pay large overs for a pick at the start of the second round on the beginning of day two of the draft. last year the cats turned 26 and 67!!! into 11 this year with gold coast. clubs will be that keen to get the guy that slipped through, iirc brissie gave up a fair bit to move up too. it makes 23 pretty valuable for a draft day trade imo compared to later second rounders
  16. make the most of this final year with ur great mate jonesy nev!!! we love ya
  17. definitely a sentimental decision but having said that, if it comes to it id rather jones in the side than vandenberg... hopefully given the experience he brings we can move on from ISmith and thing about phillips for the next 8 years ?
  18. about time, long running joke in our household is doing a wagner, just another wagner which is basically when something is useless
  19. was eager for him to get 2yrs early days this season, would be happy now just to see him stay another year on the rookie list. probably starts next year as 'next in' given i would have a backline of Salem-May-Lever Hibbo-Petty-Rivers Hore real make or break, needs to up his possessions from 2 a game to 7-8 and at least have some kind of impact otherwise he will be moved on, he'll get chances tho
  20. the only reason he played well and i still believe this to this day is that no team had seen him play forward, they didnt know what he was like as a forward so they were a step behind in curtailing him. give them one season of footage and all of a sudden one body check and hes out of the contest and out of the side and now out of the club, should never have been made a permanent switch should be hooker-esque in the way he had a massive year forward but is still very much a key defender
  21. if we sign phillips im expecting u to get a tattoo of his face on ur [censored] day 1 thats how keen you are to get him on board ahahaha
  22. at the very least it woulda made him more apealling to rivals
  23. the only difference between smith and phillips/polec is flags, and that doesn't say anything really about the player coz realistically and i know its not completely the case but they could carry anyone to a flag during those years such was the dominance so why would we not target someone younger and hungrier than just the paycheck signing.
  24. if you put tomlinson (Key defender as he's being played therefore judged) and langdon on every other clubs lists i think it is at least a 50:50 split probably even less that they feature in that clubs top 10 players, thats just the facts. yes they're solid contributors, yes langdon had a really good year but they dont stand out any more than any other player going around statistically or in an eye test higgins this year and then pressure is on ANB, spargo, bedford, potentially chandler to earn a deal beyond next year before we throw some cash at tippa to get him off the sinking ship that is essendon and quinton narkle on two years wouldn't need much coin just wants a chance to prove himself initially and earn the right to ask for some money, would rotate really nicely with trac OR we look internally and give harmes first crack at that role and melky gets one last chance to play it seeing as he's contracted but ideally wouldn't see out the season there even favouring a genuine small and give fritsch that freedom
  25. lever and langdon wouldn't even be top 9 players in their position across the competition tbh, same goes for salem and brayshaw so theyre all comfortably B's at best. and langdon has had one like noteworthy season but if he backs it up again i'd scale him up hibbo is a C coz he could easily be out of the team by round 8 who knows, age can catch up to you at any time definitely a C going into next season as a veteran and consistant performer week in week out without ever starring tomlinson couldn't get a game for half the season, doesn't have a best position and if ur saying top 10-18 well thats half one teams list, thats not B grade in the competition. harmes couldn't get a game for us, due to coaching and poor management but still, hard to argue he'd walk into a couple of the other sides in the comp preuss has 18 games in 6 years in the system, hardly screams B, could easily flop we dont actually know, especially if they sign Sav as well i agree its a pretty limited scale, but its a good way to break top talent away from the pack pretty simply and we do have a pack thats too full
