  1. vandenBerg --> harmes - obvious like for like ugrade jetta --> lockhart - injured smith --> hibberd - matchups firstly + possessions (his general defensive form has been decent) anb --> bennell - didnt do enough, never does and its do or die
  2. he plays a much deeper role these days lockdown type on the mitch wallis' of the world viney needs to learn to not go back into traffic and dispose of the ball sooner instead of trying to do it all himself. the only difference between him and the brad crouches of the world are the ability to give the ball off at the right time. we can blame this on the ability of his teammates as a youngster... had no choice but to do it all himself. i really dont want him to leave but if he doesnt tidy this up (which he absolutely can do) he could be expendable as a player definitely not as the most melbourne through and through person we have on our list. CHANGES: vdb --> harmes jetta (inj) --> lockhart smith (matchups) --> hibbo anb --> bedford/hannan (probably safe coz we won tho)
  3. i want quality depth and jackson is only 19 he cant carry a forward line on his own. Jackson is versatile that we could play all 3. im not saying he doesnt get a game all season but maybe he plays 12-15 games
  4. i dont see rejects i see value and players desperate for opportunity, you've only improved our best 22 by one player and i dont think we're really in the race for williams and atkins isnt a lock for 22 either. + ur bench is 4 inside mids which doesnt work. Polec 4th rounder north happy to offload Witherden 3rd (see lewy taylor 2019) Wright 2021-3rd (salary% paid) Cumming 3rd (see setterfield, bonar) Narkle late2nd we can easily make that happen if we show ambition so yeh i gotta admit its probably very unrealistic but i see all of them as upgrades on our list and nearly undroppable for us based on form at other clubs and our current options
  5. For mine: Hibberd May Lever Salem Tomlinson Witherden Langdon Viney Polec Fritsch Weid Narkle Pickett Wright Bennell Gawn Oliver Petracca Brayshaw Harmes Rivers Bedford Reserves DEF: Hore, Petty, Lockhart, Cumming, Neitschke (A), Chandler (A) MID: Sparrow, Jordon, vandenBerg, Dunkley (A), Baker RCK: Jackson, Preuss, Bradtke FWD: Melksham, Spargo, ANB, Brown (A), Cockatoo (A) I'd be drafting a running defender, one medium and one small forward Retire: Jones, KK, Jetta Delist: 2xWagner, Hunt, Hannan, Smith, OMcDonald Trade: TMcDonald Extra Thoughts *Jackson will develop well with no pressure against men in a proper 2s *Can we prise Tarrant out of North in a deal with Polec too - how far are they willing to rebuild *Early call is ANB, VDB, Melky, Baker, Dunkley, Chandler, Brown need big 2021s *Wright & Polec contracts being split between us and former clubs *Cockatoo DFA/Narkle steak knives *very achievable window if we pull our finger out
  6. vAnDeNbErG
  7. spargos first season at teh club 18 games picketts first season at the club 90% of games bedford two years two games 5 months apart genuinely setting him up for failure they actually dont want him to succeed at all
  8. coz ive seen my team play finals once in my living memory whist my best mates support geelong and hawthorn
  9. nah we win the media say 2020 isnt over for this side the players read their own hype in the media and then go down to the dons by 40 game over at QT
  10. found us a forward coach
  11. this is spot on. everyone is quick to bash them both and call for their heads and refer to the stats but how many games did cyril or charlie cameron get 15+ disposals, A: not many. these two young lads are absolutely passing the eye test better than anyone else we've tried in their spots over the last two years.
  12. perfect step up from melksham at HF rolling through with trac, and we wont ever have to see hunt hannan ANB avb fraud their way into the side
  13. absolutely the perfect goalsquare player for us and we can play Wright, Weid and LJ all together. Allows jackson to get a weaker matchup good for development and gives max a chop too
  14. imo it should be all 3, no nibbler, no hunt and gotta be questions on melky in that mix
  15. youd rather TMac next to Preuss and Weid im guessing. turn it up lad... wet=smalls
  16. whered u read that?
  17. it was going well until he called Oliver "Olly" then he lost all my support
  18. quinton narkle to take melkshams spot at HF probably for a 3rd rounder or future second (assuming we think we'll climb) definitely an upgrade in terms of disposals, energy, still a good user and can find the goals and roll through the guts. Allows us to move on hunt and hannan and leave nibbler and melky in the magoos until the end of their contracts or melky retires 2021
  19. i believe smith must stay in against the prongs of GWS (Cameron, Finlayson, Himmelberg, Riccardi) unless by some miracle Hore is ready to go. But lockhart has to be in to take bobby we saw what walters did to hibbo. So Salem to the Baker wing Lockhart May Lever Rivers Tomlinson Hibbo Langdon Viney Salem Gawn Oliver Petracca Fritsch Weid Melky Pickett Brown Bedford vdB Harmes Baker Smith OUT: ANB, Hunt, Preuss IN: Lockhart, Harmes, Brown not exactly like for like but necessary for matchups
  20. why not let the natural forward in bedford get some consistency, pressure was there goals and tackles arent far off. definitely a better option than nibbler, hannan, hunt and lockhart in the forward line
  21. Decisions would already be made on most uncontracted players at this stage, so we stop wasting games on smith and hunt. fritsch looked better without melky at HF so a small in spargo instead and see what chandler and dunkley can do. OUT: Preuss, Melksham, vandenberg, Neal-Bullen, Hunt, Smith IN: Brown, Spargo, Harmes, Dunkley, Chandler, Lockhart
  22. Witherden Polec Wright Cumming for mine
  23. goody mentioned in his presser we might get harmes/brayshaw/sparrow/jackson back but this season is wasted and it would absolutely murder them to rush them back early except maybe harmes his doesnt seem to bad and hes a mature body so... here is how i'd line up for the last two games: B: Lockhart May Lever HB: Rivers Tomlinson Hibberd ? Langdon Viney Baker HF: Fritsch Weideman Spargo F: Bedford Brown Pickett R: Gawn Oliver Petracca IC: Salem Chandler Dunkley Harmes E: Preuss Hore Melksham vdB With two games to go in a season list decisions would have already been made up mostly ie Freo so stop playing Hunt, Hannan, Wagner, Smith, ANB and the likes for one two games here and there and actually see what some of these younger boys can do. Leave Jackson, Sparrow, Jordon, Bennell, Petty, Brayshaw in cotton wool. Forget about Jones, Jetta, the Wags & Macs who arent going to be around next year. These stupid 1yr deals we gave half our list last year get extended into 2nd, 3rd years until we have 24yos+ with like >50 games experience just wasting list spots and contributing nothing when they play. How do the coaches not see it. Hibbo got torched 3 times, 3!! by Walters, so we over did the height against freo. Lockhart in for Smith is obvious because Hibbo gives us dash and penetration. If chandler is going to play lockdown defence or pressure forward go and find out let Salem run the narrow wing where hes got a strong body to go inside and engine to go outside too. vdB should be a break glass in case of bulk injuries a la this week but dunkley is the future onballer that deserves a crack when this scenario happens to see what he offers otherwise he's gone. Spargo, Bedford and Pickett play them all together and see how they pressure and swarm rather than half assing it with one or two of them and your washed up types ANB, Hunt and your >10 disposal markers Melky and Hannan. Fritsch when allowed to roam and kick inside 50 looked dangerous (how good was hitting pickett out the back). let him play that role alone without these two taking up his space and wasting his possessions. Thoughts people?
  24. can anyone find a link to the article last october when we resigned 8 players... cant remember who the 8 were all on 1 or 2 yr deals, would love to see it for reference *found it* https://www.sportingnews.com/au/afl/news/melbourne-lock-away-eight-young-players-for-2020-season/4uk11ik6qbgt1ir5l4go0a934
  25. but all the wins havent been full squad performances and i think thats the key message from all the posters regardless of how they express it. we arent getting enough from our bottom 10 each week and thats whats the difference between top sides and where we are
