  1. he's sort of as proven as TMac at first thought, broke through as a defender got swung forward for one season and kicked a bag but his output this year has been ordinary in terms of scoreboard i'd have to delve into the stats before i fully considered him. think id still prefer Pete Wright at this point
  2. former teammate of mine Rowy loves the peninsula he'd be lapping up every minute of life on bondi, not to mention hes been there number 2 mid all season. he'll be there the long run
  3. imo its pretty obvious this week Hannan makes way for Fritsch OMac for Lockhart AVB out for Harmes if necessary; Hibberd (inj) for Bennell or Jetta depending on where you want to play Tomlinson against small swans
  4. essendon collingwood hawthorn might consider
  5. jenkins doesnt play. steven is a 4 time best and fairest definitely improves ur side dramatically, dahlhaus is a premiership player and top 10 in the league for his position and role comfortably. rohan ill pay but still u cant say atkins would be a lock in our side for 22 games a season as rohan is
  6. disagree entirely, when have you seen geelong target anyone who is out of favour or 50;50 to improve the side over the last 5-10 years same deal with hawthorn for the most part too. If we want to upgrade outside pace or any position for that matter it has to be target the top otherwise we will see no growth and stagnate as a mid table side, wasting what good players we've got. If we want a player who "may" become best 22 thats where u target the draft ie Rivers is a hit and can play that role just as well as RAtkins will in the future but maybe not as well as your Phillips, Williams, Hunter, Polec types who we've been linked to. Replacing Hunt and ANB with Atkins who doesn't have any extra upside is silly imo but a 21yo with potential to grow thats a swap i'd be willing to accept. https://www.afl.com.au/news/488416/brilliant-or-bust-how-bold-power-shook-off-mid-ladder-blues this article is a beautiful reference as to what we must follow. if you play supercoach youll be farmiliar with the term guns and rookies. Same applies to actual football lists, you dont target mid tier players if you want to move forward
  7. firstly Matt rowell was a grammar school boy and hes the best player ive ever played with so go shove it and Nibbler is not suited to Adelaide they literally just let Ratkins walk whos a year older with 30 more games. Nothing young about ANB
  8. Lads, reading this thread has been the best start to my weekend. its so amusing scrolling through the waffle some of you lot spit out. IMO the team we selected is very satisfactory. Gawn for Preuss yes obviously. TMac out for Brown, yes. The modern day key forward has to be agile athletic, he's not that and his form has not warranted selection, easy wins carried him through selection for the last month. Brown can offer alot more than an Optus Weagles game is ever going to suggest and definitely can pinch in the ruck, so it's ok, Weid will be in the goalsquare. Fritsch knows his error, redeemed himself booting "4 or 5 or 6" in the scratch match, we'll be seeing him next week (for hannan imo). But definitely cant fit him, melky and hannan in one side. We definitely needed Rivers speed, the Harmes move to midfield for Sparrow and Rivers back made sense. Jones is welcomed back and when Harmes returns next week i think AVB makes way. OMac will be straight back out for Sydney and Freo where the matchups arent favourable and we can look forward to Hore/Petty in his role next season. JWags is just filling a hole and wont be around for much longer let him play who cares, Lockhart clearly needed a rest in the coaches opinion and there wasnt an obvious replacement except Jets who i personally woulda loved to have seen with the occasion and all. Lets all just relax, enjoy the boys cracking in without too much expectation (cmon lets be realistic) and hopefully goody shows some emotion for a change
  9. the only position on the ground we do have options in is midfield. So hately, caldwell, o'halloran, smith all wont move. Briggs wont come as theres an opening as u said at gws however i can see potentially preuss heading there. ballard wont leave hes loving it especially with rory thompson doing another knee wright is definitely a shout tho and i also rate cumming Dunkley we have about zero of his type as on outside mid so idk what ur on about there bradtke is only 20 and outside the salary theyll persevere. also baker is contracted as is KK but could see a payout here spargo is handy and young enough that he could still show something as if anyone would look at nibbler tho
  10. why not both. especially if list sizes r cut. Williams comes on a free and a straight swap just about works for both players and clubs as they have a serious log jam of talented players trying to stay on the list
  11. It shows some people have no idea about football. Let me draw a comparison here. One Gryan Miers from geelong is a third year forward. He has played just about every game since the start of last year it takes patience and development. We've been good for years at letting players stagnate in the twos and dropping and repicking places rashly. You've already written off pickett after 13 weeks. Bedford hasnt even reached the end of his initial draft contract yet and hes already not worth ur time. Youve gotta trust the process. and Spargo has done an ok job but whats dropping him gonna do to his self-confidence? how does he learn to play afl footy without actually running out in the side? and tomlinson is welcome in my back half ahead of oscar and smith any day bro youve brought hannan into a side hes already in... face palms and youve played a five man bench...
  12. id be looking at an Isaac cummings off HB for the giants was picked round 1 pre lockdown clearly they know hes skilled then dropped and has been out with a hammy since 4yrs in the system could be a handy pickup
  13. OUT: Sparrow, Preuss, Hannan, AVB, TMac IN: Bennell, Gawn, Bedford, Rivers, Brown with Harmes to take that midfield role off Sparrow and a genuine small forward in Bedford a better option than the marking type Hannan. Wouldnt be surprised if Jetta comes in as well as rivers maybe instead of a bennell type due to st kildas speed in Fwd half
  14. every point u make from here on in is completely irrelevent now that youve refered to them as the bears
  15. Isaac Smith > imo, younger and more reliable (body wise) We can always strengthen i think the stick with what we have attitude is wrong. the time is now to go all in on the next 3-5 year period. i like the Tarrant and Talia talk a lot too (allows OMac and Smith to leave) and i wouldnt be opposed to a preuss trade rewarding the man if the top ruck spot opened up (cats/giants/hawks/swans) we would bring in a CCJ type to replace him and probably pay them less (also more fwd suitability) vanders is not the answer on the wing and jones wont be in the side next year so a williams/polec/hunter style player is an absolute necessity with hibbo being 30+ too. obvs not discounting rivers in that role too. With Hunt/CWagner presumably falling off the list and ANB/Baker pretty close behind a small forward is ideal. I keep saying Cockatoo and i wouldnt be opposed to a Petrucelle (WCE) either. and Pete Wright cannot be happy at the suns surely Also Smith has no trade value as hes OOC he'll be delisted and picked up that way or will be for an exchange of picks that moves us up the draft.
  16. Having let Jack Martin slip last off season. CCox and Cockatoo have been names ive pencilled in to look at. Cockatoo has obvious talent and seeing as we've fixed bennell i can see a similar thing happening here, they/he must be losing patience a la linc mccarthy down at the cattery. Interesting that Cocky wasnt on that list old mate geelong had on bigfooty. also im intrigued why chandler is being discussed in the small defender role - has he trained there/played their in the 2s?? i thought he was a forward and played that role in his senior game to date.
  17. polec with north paying some of his wage is realistic. williams/hunter is hopeful id imagine at this stage. Tomlinson will go to the wing next season when petty and hore are fit cant see either of them getting the [censored] after watching what OMac and Smith dished up. TMac would suit essendons needs but wouldnt be worth more than a 2nd rounder imo especially on his current deal. Harmes needs to find a place in the side or he risks getting passed and ultimately dropped
  18. OMac definitely uncontracted Laird/BSmith from the crows, unless u want Dom Tyson back ? id steer very clear of all of norths list
  19. id also give isaac smith a year or two if hawthorn moved him on
  20. DELIST Hunt Hannan OMac Smith CWagner JWagner RETIRE Jones Kolodjashnij TRADE/Never play in the seniors again ANB vandenberg Baker (poor mans hunt) Brayshaw - has currency (hello freo) and allows changes to our 1 dimensional midfield (could be harmes) TARGETS Zac Williams -FA desperately need run and kicking Witherden - couldn't crack brisbane's side until recently has elite disposal 2 metre Peter Wright - also cant get a game and could be an elite goal square player for us Cockatoo - we've fixed Bennell why couldn't we do the same here, elite pressure forward when fit Cedric Cox - cant crack a brisbane side too but has potential as a small forward would come cheaply Cumming - looked the goods pre season at GWS lots of competition for places they probably let him walk Papley - probably too expensive 2021 List Key Defenders: May, Lever, Hore, Petty, T McDonald General Def: Lockhart, Hibberd, Jetta, Rivers, Salem, Neitschke (A?), Witherden/Cumming, Williams Midfielders: Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Harmes, Sparrow, Jordon, Langdon, Tomlinson, Dunkley (A) Rucks: Gawn, Preuss/merry-go-round (CCJ?), Jackson, Bradkte (B) General Fwd: Fritsch, Melksham, Bedford, Pickett, Bennell, Spargo, Chandler (A), Cox/Cockatoo Key Forwards: Weideman, Wright, Brown (A) =37 players pre draft
