  1. It’s great to see that we have great quality in our depth now. For eons it has been (say) 18 regulars then a drop off to the rest.
  2. Brown and Weideman too good for VFL. Lockhart steady and cool. Runs in straight lines.
  3. Maybe the wake up call Nev needed? Still got it.
  4. Yes! Bedford! Kossie II. If BBB and the Weed play like this in the seniors they can start inscribing the Premiership cup! Nghtmare pairing for defenders.
  5. I’m in Bris and casting it onto my TV via iPad and the 7+ app.
  6. Chris Grant.
  7. Yes, Rowell is an exceptionally gifted young footballer. I’d be wrapping him in cotton wool for the year again. The Suns aren’t going anywhere soon. Why rush to get him back on the field?
  8. You are right Kev. Take each game as it comes. Losing May and Fritsch are massive blows and any replacements (B. Brown excepted) will be a downgrade which makes us vulnerable. I would expect any incoming players to seize the opportunity with both hands because they will know that it may be the only chance they get to impress enough to win a spot in this team. Lets really turn it on for 4 quarters against the Hawks and dispel any of those “ not ruthless enough” doubters.
  9. Looks like Mayzies other eye has gone out in sympathy! Alternatively, he has consumed an entire bottle of “liquid sedative”. FWIW the doctors in my family reckon a minimum of 3 games missed based on their guess that it is a likely a “floor” fracture rather than a “rim” fracture but no firm diagnosis can be made until all of the swelling goes down.
  10. I’m old but can still manage to operate a computer. Then again, I managed to strip and reassemble a 7.62 mm L1A1 with my eyes closed once upon a time. Some of us oldies have done [censored] you young blokes have only seen in video games. ?
  11. Out: May, Jetta, Jordan (rest) In: Petty, Brown, Hibberd Sparrow stays sub.
  12. 6. Gawn 5. Viney 4.Lever 3. Oliver 2. Petracca 1. Langdon
  13. Ah well. On days like this I am thankful that I live in Brisbane where the temperature right now is 22 degrees. ? Dees by 30.
  14. Yeah, sure Bda. But I also think that our opposition have simply been more ordinary than us on the day. I PRAY that our run continues and that the team clicks for a full game but I’ve been involved in footy long enough to see that there are better and more disciplined teams than us in the comp. We still have too many players that go missing for long periods in games. We still don’t start well, give away too many easy goals and still have trouble kicking goals ourselves. The 4th point might improve soon but the better teams will tear us a new one unless we tighten things right up.
  15. You are dead right Dr D. I am a very dedicated fan but don’t wear rose coloured specs. We have shown some glimpses of what we can do but those are overshadowed by the ordinary football played in between. My belief is that the “improvement” is down to the Choco and Ooze influence. It is definitely there but to be frank, unless Brown and Weideman deliver when they get on the park, we will struggle to stay in the top 8 with the standard of football that has dominated our 2021 games so far.
  16. Clarry should line up in the forward pocket against the Cats. It’s a certainty that O’Connor will tag him. Further, if Clarry gets upended behind play then somebody (Melksham if he plays?, Jones? May?) needs to make it clear that we won’t tolerate that stuff. There wasn’t much remonstrating yesterday. 3 words - Take no sh*t.
  17. One of best things about these votes is that everyone has a different perspective as to who played well which makes for great debate/banter. It’s not in the spirit of things to criticise others for what they determine to be vote-worthy performances. As “goodoil” said, 16 intercepts by Jake is not bad work for a defender. I tend to give my votes to those that I believe contributed well primarily for the entirety of the game. Pickett was my exception and I probably leaned towards his individual brilliance in giving him a vote. Several others were vote-worthy but we can’t fit them all in unfortunately. I find it interesting that you chose to pot me instead of “goodoil” who posted Lever in the votes before me but I guess that’s a bit of a shot perhaps for my off-the-cuff comment the other week. Mate, take things with a grain of salt here. We are all on the same side. If I said anything you perceived as offensive, I apologise. OK?
  18. 6. Gawn 5. Langdon 4. Lever 3. Hunt 2. Viney 1. Pickett
  19. Out: Sparrow, Jetta In: Hibberd, Melksham
  20. Jeezus Clint. I would have hated to see you when TMac was playing in defence!
  21. The Giants playing “dirty”? ? Fair dinkum, some of you blokes wouldn’t know “dirty” on a footy field if you fell in a bucket of sheet!
  22. Forward lines are a complete contrast! Ours congested theirs wide open!
  23. I’m opening myself right up here but I reckon the Weid might struggle to get a game in front of TMac. Jackson has been invaluable as second ruck and I can’t see us dropping him for Sam. I’m still not totally sold on Weideman to be frank. Benny Brown would already be in front of him in terms of preference. Further, what happens if Majak starts smashing the door down? Sam needs to kick consecutive bag fulls in the twos before even being considered. In terms of depth forwards, we are in a great position. We just have to get the best of them all together on the park.
  24. A couple of posters have mentioned kicking at a target behind the goals. I was taught to select somebody behind the goals and kick it to them as if passing a field kick. To do that, we were told to go further back on the mark and build a bit of speed up before kicking, simulating a field kick. That is more natural than slowly walking in to kick without much momentum.
