Are Melksham and Spargo playing? We are 2 players short. (3 if we add Smith)
-
Never been a fan. Has played the odd good game but doesn't play within his skill set. Is a basic footballer. Its probably too late for him to take the desire to be a speccy taking, I can-beat-any-tackler, look-at-me traits out of his game. Given the contract terms though, I guess we have to keep him. If either out of contract or on a 1 year contract, I'd be happy to see him gone.

Mason Wood maybe worth a look. Could be a player in a new environment. Has the skills. Good size.

Neale, Daylight, Boak, Jack Steele, Trac...

Charles Spargo - A Grade Small Defender (2021 Edition)
ProperDee replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
Too slow. Imagine what a Charlie Cameron, Gryan Miers or Liam Ryan would do to him? They would have his photo on their walls and the game date circled in red just like most opposition tall forwards do with OMac. Lockhart is the small defender in waiting. -
I’m in Brizzy Jack and sweating on our Anna giving us a day off!

I wonder what odds we would have gotten from Billy Brownless on Baker, Rivers and Spargo being our game high goal kickers? 1000/1?

Duplicated.

Agreed. Looked good down back when he was there too. Cool head. Underrated player imho.

“The Weed” has sprouted. Now a fully fledged dandelion.

vdB’s task for the rest of the game - take Mumford out. If suspended, so be it.

FWIW, quite a strong wind in East Brisbane today with some significant gusts. Had some showers earlier and perhaps a little more on the way. Supposed to be windy again tomorrow with a chance of a shower but the Gabba is fairly well protected from the wind. I am hoping for a fast track for tomorrow evening. We seem to be hopless in wet conditions.

Bad move IMHO to take the captaincy from Jack. That is behind his desire to move on I believe. I don't really care about his skill set in terms of kicking. What I do care about is his leadership style of putting his body on the line for the club every single game. THAT is the type of leadership that we cannot afford to throw away and is the type of leadership that inspires players to premierships. If Jack leaves, that will be an unmitigated disaster.

Why are you wanting blokes who can’t get a game at clubs lower on the ladder than us?

Kozi will be fine. His reflexes are actually too quick for the game right now which I put down to a mixture of youthful exuberance and inexperience. When he learns to adjust his skills and reflexes down to the speed of the game he will be brilliant. Blind Freddy can see the talent there.

Very sadly, you are correct. Goodwin is not an AFL quality coach however he has a squad of players many of whom are not AFL level footballers. Combine the two and the recipe will fail most times. As suggested within the thread, some very harsh calls need to be made re the playing list but in turn, Goodwin needs to be on the receving end of an arze kicking too. What is/has happening/happened at our club from a team/coaching perspective would not be tolerated in a country league. I first started supporting the Club in 1966 when at age 14, I came down to Melbourne from Brisbane when my father was relocated with his work. I had played junior rugby league for the Norths Devils so the Demons were a logical choice to support. 54 years later and I have seen every other club in the former VFL win a flag except us (I count Fitzroy as Brisbane and South Melbourne as Sydney) not to mention SA and WA teams enjoy success in the AFL. It is only in the past two years that I have been genuinely embarassed to support the MFC. In particular, the past 2 weeks have gutted me. Yeah, we have had some terrible years but I'd always hang my hat onto something to remain positive. Not now. We have star players in Petracca, Gawn, Oliver and May supported by, at least on paper, a fair supporting cast. We should be reasonably competitive. Against Sydney, watching those guys walking after a Swans player running with the ball towards goal made me ill. There is no excuse for that and no excuse for the utter rubbish that we have served up in the past two games. I guess the idea of me seeing my demons win a premiership is no longer a pipe dream. In fact, the exact opposite is the truth. I cannot see it happening anytime soon. As I am not in the greatest of health, that really, really stings and to be quite frank, leaves this old mans heart sickened and sad.

I’ve had a gut full of Weideman running under the balL Not a forwards arze.

We’ve got the wind this quarter. I think I am going to have it all game!

Should announce his retirement immediately. Great bloke, great club man and much loved. Thanks Nate, you gave it your all buddy.

Lazy spineless pretenders.

Cricket’s on this weekend! The football can GAGF.

FFS Goodwin, run Langdon through the middle. Try SOMETHING!!!!

Clearly a pre-game enema is on Jack Viney's "must do" list for our next game. Maybe using Vicks vaporub as a lubricant may also add another yard or two to his pace?

Injury prone from his pre-AFL days and not a hard track worker by all accounts. Read into that whatever you will. Further, we have plenty of mids. Our trouble spot is CHF although I am hoping Harry Petty can fill that gap.
