  1. I’m opening myself right up here but I reckon the Weid might struggle to get a game in front of TMac. Jackson has been invaluable as second ruck and I can’t see us dropping him for Sam. I’m still not totally sold on Weideman to be frank. Benny Brown would already be in front of him in terms of preference. Further, what happens if Majak starts smashing the door down? Sam needs to kick consecutive bag fulls in the twos before even being considered. In terms of depth forwards, we are in a great position. We just have to get the best of them all together on the park.
  2. A couple of posters have mentioned kicking at a target behind the goals. I was taught to select somebody behind the goals and kick it to them as if passing a field kick. To do that, we were told to go further back on the mark and build a bit of speed up before kicking, simulating a field kick. That is more natural than slowly walking in to kick without much momentum.
  3. Start Max in the goal square. See how Cameron reacts.
  4. Benny Brown! I reckon he would have kicked 6 last night if had been in the side. Cannot wait to get him in.
  5. Mental health issues are illnesses not diseases. The key to recovery from any psychological related illness is identifying and accepting the fact that an issue exists. Taking steps to obtain help and obtaining support from family and friends is crucial. Talking to mates is part of that process. This also quickly identifies who really are your friends and who you can rely on for support.
  6. By disclosing issues to mates, that is the first step to recovery as it indicates that an issue has been recognised by the sufferer.
  7. As Clint said, Jackson into the ruck was when the momentum switched. He follows up like a midfielder.
  8. He is a 19 year old kid FFS. Still growing and finding his feet in AFL football. If you cannot see the potential talent there, it’s you who doesn’t understand the development side of the game. You do know that practice matches don’t count don’t you?
  9. 6. Lever 5. May 4. Oliver 3. T.Mac 2. Tomlinson 1. Langdon I swear when looking at others votes that some have watched a different game to me. Either that or they give bias or sympathy votes.
  10. There is one word that as a Demons’s fan I would like to see mentioned in any win we have - “clinical”. I doubt I will ever see that word used to describe our team’s game performance. The better teams can get the job done with precision without any attempted cute moves or OTT celebrations. Richmond, for example, seem to turn it on at will. We have a lot of talented footballers at Melbourne but they need to up the psychological maturity and switch on. Some of the boys need to become men on the field. May and Lever are our only “clinicians” at the moment. The win was great to see but I worry for the immediate future.
  11. If the opposition kick more goals than us, we’re in trouble.
  12. Right up there with Jonathan Brown’s “Marebnnn”. You can take the kid out of the country......
  13. I’m happy for OMac landing a gig at the Blues and getting a few kicks last night. Being honest though, there is no way we would win a flag with OMac, Frost, ANB, TMac and Harmes (and maybe a couple of others whom I am loathe to name in fear of extreme castigation) in the same team. That is starting to change and is a very good thing. I found it funny that a Farmer would support a McDonald. Ei ei oh....and my money is also on him being a spud farmer. Definitely not blue ribbon cattle.
  14. Oscar Mc Carey! Go you good thing!
  15. Good coaches are like kids with the old wind up toys. They test the toy with a few turns of they key and when confident, turn the key as far as possible without breaking it and let it go. Goodwin took his new toy with both hands but turned the key too hard too early and busted the toy. It will only turn half way now and can’t be fixed. There are times when the toy runs better than expected but mostly the monkey stops banging the cymbals together after a very short time.
  16. Great stuff. This is the type of commentary I have wanted to hear from Goodwin. I hope he learns from this. Tough man is Choco. Will not hesitate to tear a player a new one if necessary. Exactly what we need. Potential coach in waiting.
  17. Can’t see anything in Baker or Jordon to make me think either will be a player. Yeah, a practice match but for mine, they don’t have it unfortunately.
  18. A top 50 which includes Daniher but not Franklin? Please. Stubby on Robbo you absolute spanker.
  19. But for God's sake Chook, don't take your eyes off him when you do!
  20. No argument there BUT....they were selected after proving themselves during per season matches. Our blokes only turned up last week. As for the “yawn” that indicates you must be a tired boy. Toddle off to beddy byes now and if you’ve been a good lad, Santa might visit tonight. ??????? ???
  21. I'm not sure that we need to examine his gluteals in any great detail Ds56.
  22. Some very game selectors here putting our new recruits straight into the A team sight unseen. At the very least, see how they go in a practice/pre-season game before labelling them as walk up starters in our best 22. On another note......Why do people say "intel" when they mean "information"? Sheer ignorance I am guessing as the words are not interchangeable.
  23. On TV the other night was taller than his father. Not 169cm any more.
  24. Goosebumps and lump-in-the-throat emotions watching the video. Great bloke. Brilliant footballer. So sad we lost him early.
  25. Funny how people relate size and physique to being a good footballer. Based on that theory, Majak Daw should have a few Brownlow's by now. Thank God some of you blokes didn't see a young Rob Flower at his first few training outings. A stick figure with glasses like the bottoms of coke bottles!
