McCartin never had a real crack at it and nobody knows how he would have gone with a few injury free seasons under his belt. For someone here to refer to him as "McConcussion" is not only puerile but quite sad. Nobody wants to see a young footballer injured to that extent. I recently read where he is hoping to play again in 2021. Brave decision but I sincerely hope somebody talks him out of it.

I was very, very close to heading to the Alice in the morning. I'd selected my flights and accommodation for tomorrow night and just as I went to push the "Confirm" button, something told me that this was a terrible idea and I closed the screen. Having seen the side, I now realise I have made one of the most cost effective and face-saving decisions of my life. I would have been slinking off to the gents at 3/4 time, removing my Melbourne polo shirt, rolling it up under my arm and surreptitiously walking back to my hotel and drinking alcohol until I blacked out. Instead, I can stay at home, turn the TV off at 3/4 time and go to bed without publicly embarassing myself AND save about $1200! I call that a win.

A few things have suddenly become clear: (a) If he couldn't get a run in a game where pace is imperative, Jayden Hunt is gone. (b) Nev Jetta's career maybe on the skids. Been a champ. (c) James Harmes has finally been called out about those compromising photos he claimed to have of the coach. (c) Get as much dough as you can find on to Tim Membrey to kick 6. I had him pencilled in for 4 until Oscar came back into the side.

Membrey always lines up for his game of the year against us! Seems to take 100 marks.

If Natanui gets a guernsey ahead of Max, that will be further evidence (if any more was ever needed) that the All Aussie team is a reward for being flavour of the month (in a lot of cases). They completely lost my interest when they named Rance then Franklin as captains.

Al ot of good players have come out of Aspley. They have a fantastic development structure and a great team of coaches. Current AFL listed players include Allir Allir, Harris Andrews, Eric Hipwood, Mabior Chol, and our own Oskar Baker and the Wagner brothers.

I thought Hunty looked ok early on playing out of a forward pocket. We need speed in the forward line to open it up and give the mids some options.

We need some speed. Hunt, Bedford and is Oskar Baker ok or injured? Even Corey Wagner perhaps? Not all ins of course but if it is some quickness we want, that’s what we have in the bank.

Nowhere did I say it was Preuss’ fault. What I did say was that there is no apparent consultation about where the ruckman will tap the ball to our best advantage.

I thought quite a few of the guys played tired to me. Further, I cannot for the life of me understand why a ruckman with a height/strength advantage cannot come up with something other than a mindless tap down the oppos throat. How about coming up with a semblance of a plan between the ruck and mids? Tap left/tap right/ punch towards CHF......I know that the word “plan” is not in our vocabulary but FCS. I also believe that when the players take the field it is up to the on field leaders to make decisions. For Gods sake make some #$&*@%+ calls! Do your job and LEAD!! If Bont needs picking up, direct someone to do it! Yeah, the coach might crack it but sticking blindly to Goodwin’s mantra is killing us. The bloke could not coach a pig to be dirty.

FWIW, its a mild, quite windy and overcast day here on the Goldy. Very slight chance of a shower but the ground will be dry and conducive to good footy. Will suit the speedsters like Langdon and Kozi but also Johannisen.

Nail on head. I have no doubt Lynch has been following the directions of his sniping coach. Aarts has come into the side recently and is a right nasty little prik. Hardwick again I’d suggest. On Lynch, he is pretty much hated on the Gold Coast where as club captain and knowing he was off to Tigerland the following season, he apparently feigned injuries to miss games and when he did play, just didn’t put in. His gutlessness now proven by his latest pizz poor attempts at being tough. Can’t wait for the next Lions v Tigers game. Lynch will probably strain a hammy at training the week before.

No changes for me. Give Maxy more time and as Dazzle said, English, the softest big man in the comp, will go even whiter when he knows he will be up against Preuss. As a poster said earlier, The Bont and Daniel need to be curbed. Kozi to Daniel as a pressure forward. Daniel is their playmaker and is often left unchecked to run down the ground. Kozi to run with him and apply pressure wherever he goes. A hard, dry track will suit Kozi down to the ground. Unsure if we need to tag the Bont. Gets a lot of the ball but not particularly damaging. Maybe if he starts to threaten, give Tomlinson the job. Or just get Vanders to have a chat with him...
