  1. Iā€™m not convinced. Big lump, but he floats around up the ground and isnā€™t a great contested mark or physical threat. Heā€™s got a bit of the ā€œlooks like Tarzan, plays like Janeā€ imo.
  2. Bloody hell. This off-season is shaping up to be as painful as the season proper if these recent threads are anything to go by.

If we could split the pick and give up a pick in the early teens for Laird, that is an absolute no brainer imo. However, I think Adelaide will be wanting something in the top 10, or a couple of picks in the mid-teens.
  4. No from me. I would however like to see him play some more defensive roles in the middle like he did a couple of years back.
  5. His finish to the year was pretty woeful, but I still think footy clubs in general are too quick to turf out older players after 1 bad year, which could be for a multitude of reasons. I'm tipping him to bounce back. In saying that, he won't be captain and he will have to learn to adapt and master another position like half back, or next year will be his last.
  6. Huh? I think you missed my point. Iā€™m not arguing his worth, Iā€™m saying I want to keep him rather than take a speculative late first round pick. I agree his value is low atm, exactly one of the main reasons I wouldnā€™t trade him.
  7. No way would I do that. A pick around the 10 mark and the opportunity to sign Tomlinson, who is an average, nothing sort of player imo, and we lose Brayshaw who is still early 20s and is more than capable of bouncing back to his best. As pointed out earlier by STMJ, we drafted a very capable core who are just about to come into their prime years. Obviously we need to make some tweaks, but Iā€™ll be filthy if we start deviating from that plan of having these guys come through together. Weā€™ve already lost Hogan, canā€™t afford to lose Brayshaw or Petracca this trade period imo.
  8. The AFL and Barrett are always pushing some sort of agenda. They are trying to soften us up to the inevitable news of GC getting pick 2 imo. However, no doubt we will post a big loss this year, which is a massive blow after working so hard to get back in the black. Just have to pray it has nothing to do with player discontent and trade requests. Financial losses we can come back from, but if the players arenā€™t up for the fight, we are in big trouble.
  9. I believe Tomlinson is an unrestricted free agent? Meaning GWS canā€™t match the offer.

Even when heā€™s played he hasnā€™t looked much chop imo. Definitely the traits we need, but I donā€™t think he is up to it.

I know he's no world beater, but I've actually always rated him. Super strong and just always seems to win those crucial 1-on-1 contests on a wing. He is clearly an upgrade in depth from the likes of Stretch, and a better option than Amon imo. I wouldn't be surprised to see us get Langdon, and then go after 1 of Cutler, McIntosh or Amon on the cheap.
  12. Having dealt with a few Freo fans, I can confidently say that is not the case.

Genuine question, but do you know much about him or just generalising? Plenty of fringe players go on to have good careers. He fits a need, would come cheap, and at the very worst would improve our depth which has been exposed this year.
  14. Didnā€™t want to pump his trade value up too much. Good lad. In all seriousness, Iā€™m not sure what it will take to get this deal done. Peter Bell just seems like a real curveball.
  15. It would take a lot for me to even contemplate it. Petracca is worth more to us than Geelong would ever offer. He will reportedly play more midfield minutes next year, which I think is a good move, as he has really good agility and power in tight. Had a good year forward this year in a rubbish team.
  16. There are a few older players who need to hit back next year, such as Hibberd and Jetta. I think Garlett will be gone, and I think Jones will get one more year, but wonā€™t be best 22 imo.

Good call. Hopefully we are into him. Wouldn't cost much and would be around the mark for a best 22 spot, especially if KK doesn't get going.

Iā€™d be interested if he was on the cheap
  19. I honestly donā€™t even know where to start. Goodwin looking completely out of his depth. Plan A hadnā€™t worked this year and Plan B is non existent.
  20. Heā€™s one of the best contested marks in the game (6th in the comp this year). He only took a single mark on the weekend, and I have no idea if that was even contested. So thereā€™s that for a start.
  21. Definitely this. Jones was another I saw start there for centre bounces, and they were clearly under instruction to not worry about Sidebottom and drop back after the bounce. I agree with Kings article, they were both incredibly dumb moves. Didnā€™t agree with the pot shot at Salem at the end though.

Happy to give him a free hit this year coming back from an ACL. He was starting to really impact games just before his knee injury last year, so we need a whole season of that next year.
  23. 6 - Petracca 5 - May 4 - Fritsch 3 - Frost 2 - JKH 1 - I'm really struggling now, maybe Harmes

100% disagree. Maybe when it comes to other teams, I donā€™t listen that closely, but when he talks Melbourne he obviously watches very closely as a fan/former player and his thoughts are often very similar to how Iā€™m feeling.

I hear a fair bit of Garry around the place and he is one of the only media types who watches Melbourne close enough to have an accurate opinion. Almost everything he says about us, which is obviously mostly negative at the moment, I agree with.
