  1. If we are upgrading a rookie, I'm hoping it is Lockhart. Looks far more likely than the others imo.
  2. But in that case, any player out of contract is effectively a free agent. Why trade when you can just wait, let their contract expire and then sign them as a DFA.
  3. That can still (and likely will) happen right up until draft night.
  4. We have set ourselves up nicely to do a favourable pick swap with GWS. Without that, the trade with North is a bit of a loss for me. I personally would have liked to target either some key position depth or a small forward, but hopefully the draft delivers that. Once the trade with GWS is done, it is a solid B for me.
  5. They will after they trade it in from Carlton for Papley....oh wait
  6. I don’t think we need to chuck anything in as it’s a seriously good trade for GWS as well given the Greene situation. Genuine win-win.
  7. Robbie Gray would be just about the perfect small/mid forward for us over the next couple of years. I would have loved for us to have a crack at him. Even next year as a FA, even though he will be a year older.
  8. I don’t follow the under 18s closely, but you have my vote.
  9. GWS will take him regardless, but it really opens the door to trade that pick to GWS beforehand to give them 2 bites at the cherry. We get pick 6 plus something else enticing. Great potential for a win-win trade.
  10. Not in the know, but I’ve had a feeling this would be the case ever since the Elliott deal fell through.
  11. Interestingly when asked about Frost, Mahoney straight away mentioned Elliott’s decision in relation. I got a very slight hint that maybe we will revisit what our offer to Frost could look like.
  12. Which is interesting as it seems pretty straight forward. It gives me hope there is something else cooking. I’m not expecting anything major, but would be nice to see us bring in a small forward, especially if Elliott goes elsewhere.
  13. And that Coorparoo ground is an absolute goat track these days. Gets a lot of traffic. They did just resurface the second oval there, but still, the facilities are nothing to write home about.
  14. What does he believe his best position is?
  15. I don't really care about player behaviour anymore (within reason of course), but if his body isn't up to it, then I wouldn't bother.
  16. Right call. He’s given great service and gave it his all, but time to concentrate on his game, adding some flexibility and being a contributor in the best 22. Gawn and Viney will be co-captains next year. I’m almost certain.
  17. He had a position on the wing there for the taking, but wasn’t quite up to it unfortunately. Going north would be a good move for him and I genuinely hope he does well.
  18. Thought he was pretty good today. Worked hard, and was always there or thereabouts. Also battled well against Grundy in the ruck when Mumford was off. I know the wing has been mentioned, but to me he seems better suited to a high half forward role, and rucking when the ball is forward.
  19. Love Vanders, but unfortunately anything we get out of him from now on will be a bonus imo.
  20. They obviously think pretty highly of him as he went straight into the round 1 side.
  21. Last night backed up my earlier impressions of him. He is just a bit part player, doesn’t really influence the game, but is tidy enough and can plug a variety of holes. I’m still not convinced he will add much to the side tbh, and also unsure what role we primarily have in mind for him.
  22. I’m all for watching Essendon lose another final, so it’s a yes from me.
  23. Given how much he would cost in both trade and salary, I'm glad we didn't enter the race. He has delivered next to nothing, is already in his mid 20s, and we would have to make him one of higher paid players, plus part with a mid first rounder (at least).
  24. He’s fit and can run all day, but I don’t think he is quick. I also think he is a reasonably neat kick. Certainly not a weakness from what I’ve seen. My concern is that he currently plays up the ground and just doesn’t impact games enough. Doesn’t get a lot of it or kick goals, and doesn’t really use his size to physically impact the game.
  25. Genuine question, but what is his type? From what I’ve seen, plus a glance at the stats, he is a big athlete who doesn’t kick many goals, doesn’t take many contested marks, and I get he plays up the ground a bit, but doesn’t get much of the ball either.
