Perspective- Jarrod Roughhead is amongst the favorites for the Coleman Medal (before we even stepped onto the park). Given the amount it was coming his way, he was bound to kick a couple. Our backs were beaten, but not disgraced.

It is a LONG tunnel! Are we digging to China?

BRING BACK THE BIFF! I think it is hard for this team to be physical due to half of them just getting out of high school. Some kids (Daniel Rich) were made for footy, other take some time to develop. It is our senior guys (that includes bate, dunn, petterd and some of the guys who have been around for a few seasons now)that need to provide the hard stuff. Scully and Trenners went at it hard, and they are kids! We need to start drafting kids that eat concrete and love to bring the hurt to the opposing team. Clean out your soft Vets (wont name names as it is frowned upon, but you all know who I am talking about)and bring back the biff

Bails is a cheaper alternative to many untried coaches. Not to mention there would be very little incentive for an established coach to take on this basket case. Sadly the verdict is out, but we need to make sure we do not establish a Richmond like coach killing culture at the club. Bails needs all home and away rounds to prove his worth. He at least deserves that!

As fans/supporters we wear out hearts on our sleeves. We all have to go into work this week and listen to every other football supporter tell us how freaking bad our club is. They wont sit there talking about our off field problems, they will be getting stuck into us about what our club does on the paddock. Everyone is watching the on field stuff- so for me that is what really counts as a supporter.

I thought the dees would have pushed a depleted Hawthorn yesterday. I expect the dees to come out and show some fight against the Pies. A win is unlikely, but keeping the final margin inside 20 points would be a sign of improvement. I might make the trip, but the filth supporters just plain annoy me and I am not one to shy away from an argument with the toothless faithful.

Our improvement needs to come across the board. Even players like Jetta and Bennell could be a huge keys moving forward. Having so few players without 100 or even 50 games under their belt does hurt. Every season from here should help us build consistency across the field, which is what we sorely lack.
-
I thought McKenzie was solid during the Intra Club match and has been ok during the preseason. He seems destine for a senior spot anyway, so a promotion is just a matter of signing some papers. Spencer is a must given that we have so few fit talls. Even if we have to slot him in at FF, he is a fit player who is craving some game time. At this point, even Hughes could get a run with the number of injuries we have.

Jurrah being hurt is bad either way! We need games under his belt asap, not starting in 12 weeks time. Gotta feel for Belly, cannot avoid getting hurt, and this is a last chance year for him. [Deleted for player abuse - Poster warned] Seriously, I wish Bell and Jurrah a speedy recovery, and wish Newton, Meesen and Hughes all the best to try and resurrect their careers with the Demons this season.

Looking forward to having Wona back!

Brock was a good talent, but he was never in the same leadership mold as Grimes, NEVER! Grimes is incredibly mature for his age, and already plays like he has 100 games under his belt. Brock would show glimpses, then fade for a week or two. Grimes so far has outplayed Brock at a similar age, and gained a slew of respect from players and fans. Brock was solid, I am not kicking him now that he is gone- I was always a fan. But Grimes is a much better player, and WILL captain this club!

The forward line is rubbish because we have drafted a forward line for 2015 not now. Watts/Jurrah and one co will all be able to pin down a spot in a few season to come, and they will be tough to match up on. Baily needs to bite the bullet and play some senior footballers inside the forward 50. Put Green and Bruce in the forward 6, i don't care if it hurts us in the back 6, our forward line is hurting more than any possie on the ground. Grimes & Mac Donald can fill in down back. Steph Martin is not a forward, and should be used down back. Bate, Miller, Wonna, Petterd, Green and Bruce form a stronger front 6 than throwing the likes of Martin and Jurrah in. They need more time to develop around the ground before being asked to hold down a CHF or FF spot. Jurrah will be fine, he will bounce back quickly. Anyone have any hopes that we can get some more development out of Dunn?? Could be a handy player up forward.

The "J" Factor had better reap greater rewards the the "W" factor. Another decade of ho-hum football is not what this club needs.

Why was my post removed? It was am instant classic! On the off chance it doesn't get placed back up, my thoughts are: 1. Shattered about Morton 2. Shattered about Morton 3. Gary Lyon has a man crush on Morton 3. 2010 is beginning to suck for us!

Here we go..... If anyone wants to see how the F/A can hurt a club, watch the NBA F/A coming up. LeBron James, Chris Bosh & Dwayne Wade all enter the F/A this season, and each player is the cornerstone of their teams. Watch how money can change loyalty, or what price a team has to pay to retain loyalty (can you say MAX deal!!) This scares me. Players in their "twilight years" will rip your heart out of your chest by jumping on board for little cash to join a premiership contender. Young players will force clubs to sign them above their worth, forcing their hand in letting other plays walk due to cap restraints. You can NEVER replace a "once in a generation" player. A compensation pick is just a pick, you are never guaranteed to get what you lost. 2012........there goes the neighborhood! (Carn the Dees!)

Bails has supporters and detractors, but the underlying truth is our list is still a not anywhere near competitive in this league. It is hard to judge an painter without allowing him to use any paint. By the "water cooler" I am still ridiculed for talking up the demons youth. Most "experts" cannot see us doing anything this season (except for battling the Tigers for the spoon), and most rival supporters think our list is a cruel joke ( if I hear another "watts is a bust" remark I may just have to remove some of their teeth!). I feel for the Bails, because no other rival coach could do much better with this very promising, yet green list. For Bails sake, I hope some of the kids we have got start to really show why they were picked ahead of many of the next generation of AFL players. Making Bails sweat for his job is an interesting angle, but to be honest I can see anyone better lining up to coach us! Carn the dees!

Had #8 since I was a little tacker (Yater!!!!) When I order my new jumper I would be happy to continue with #8 with Chip's career. Gave it a rest for a while when Big Nic had it....(although I did like big Nic, just not enough to wear his #) I thought #24 was big with robbo........it is going to grow with Jurrah!

Morton has the height and skills to play at CHF, but he is still a bit sleight for the role. Possible, but he is handy to use as a utility. We have tried Dunn there....hasn't worked. Honestly, Watts was recruited to be a key forward player, and CHF is waiting for him if he is good enough. When fit the dees need to give him some VFL exposure, then throw him into CHF to see how he fairs. Garland is another likely type, his ability to read the play is outstanding. It has been a while since we have seen Garland fit and firing, so CHF might be a while off. Steph Martin didn't do much up forward, but the delivery was awful. Don't write him off just yet, he is a very underrated player and could perhaps learn to play as a good CHF. Like Garland, Martin seems to be more comfortable down back.

Any love for Jetta? His attack on the ball and player was outstanding. Used it well, and did cough it up which happens with younger guys. The highlight for me is the fact he out worked and bumped some bigger opponents to put the footy in dispute or aided the opposition turning it over. New Mac was very handy, and seems to like a contest. Fetta was good, looks a player. Overall the disposal was as major concern. If we had played a top side we could have been belted by 100+ last night. My horse for a forward...............
-
PAH! One game and people are going crazy after Jetta. He looked good, but it was one game! Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda........ every club is in the same boat! Good luck to him, let us just be happy with who we have got for now.

Seems to be a trend with us, drafting promising kids who get banged up early. Gives us something to look forward to in the second half of the season if things are not going to well for us. Having late season debutants is always exciting. I wish him a speedy recovery. A promotion is a must form the rookie list if Luke is out this long, and Jordie McKenzie is miles ahead of the rest for a call up. Spencer would also be in line given the shortage of talls.

It is ALL about Television exposure. A win in the NAB cup keeps us on TV. The more people see the Jurrah's, Scully's, the more the fever is likely to catch. Although not critical, a win gets us another TV appearance and opens the team up to new audiences that might not have a team, or do not passionately follow the dees yet. Your die hards will sign up with a loss in the nab cup no worries. A win helps us find new fans.

Sad too see any club go under. That said, I would rather it be Port than us in 5-10 years. Boy do we need some success to drag us out of the doldrums!

If Jimmy can pull this off he will go down in history as one of the most ambitious club presidents in VFL/AFL history. Obama is a CRAZY hoops fan, and loves to get involved with sport. I would love to see this happen, it may raise MFC awareness in the worlds richest sporting market (although they have no f&^king idea what AFL is other than their old american football league before the NFL merger) I really want this to happen. Jimmy Stynes is a dead set legend, both on and off the field!!!

Johnson and Meesen are in serious trouble if they can't get on the track. Last chance for both boys I would think. From all reports, Blease seems to be making some good progress and could be ready for the Scorps round one. Looking forward to seeing Jack get fit and play down forward. Looks like he has added a few KGs and could be ready to challenge for a permanent spot. Hopefully this quad doesn't hamper him too much.
