I am not sure what the bigger news is here. Nik-Nats emergence, or the return of YM! Nik-Nat is looking good, but he is 10 months older than Jack and is far more advanced with his body. Nik-Nat can already bench 135kgs, Jack would be lucky to bench a violet crumble. It is looking like the dees have got this one wrong, but we have to give Jack a good go before we write him up as a bust. I still think Watts is going to be a very good footballer, and with his football IQ could have a much longer and more successful career than Nik-Nat. In their 30s, the freak athleticism fades, and the football brain is all that is left. I would back Jack there! Le us revisit this is 18 months. Until then I am very much looking forward to seeing Watts (and Nik-Nat) play, and YM posting his "magic brand" back on demonland.

If I was being paid to write and article based purely on guesswork, I would have written the same garbage. The truth is of ALL AFL lists, the demons have the most room for improvement, and are the most likely to turn it around with a boom of young talented kids getting better each week. Freo and the tigers are in a far worse position than we are. Port are in for some dark years, the Weagles don't thrill me and I think some of the more overrated sides (Carlton, Sydney,Collingwood, Essendon)are prone to some soft defeats coming up in 2010. The Dees bashing ends in 2010, i am sick to my stomach about reading articles such as these about how crap we are. 8-9 wins this year will start to have people worried again about playing the mighty dees.

Give them our 1st rounder next year + a player or 2 for Leuenberger. He has had his battles with injury, but should be a top 5 ruckman for the next 5-8 years. I agree than Meesen, PJ will not be around next year. Miller may also not, which would allow a resting ruckman to grab a spot up forward. We have drafted well for ruck stocks, however I would not back my house on any of them being dominant ruckman at AFL level this early on. I would be more inclined to bet it all on Leuenberger who is one of the most impressive young ruckman in the AFL. Brissie might deal him, they are built to win now, not in a few years time when Leuenberger is in his prime. I also agree that Charman will be too old by the time this Demons outfit is ready to contend for the flag.

He is only 12 months older than Tom Scully. Maric was a bottom age draftee, and like many other in years past (Bate is a great example) they tend to take a bit longer to shine at the top level. Maric and a few others are really playing to be a permanent part of this team. There are several spots up for grabs and Maric is hunting for one of those spots. I hope the faith the coach and supporters have in him is an indication he can be the player we need. I think a fit Wonna and a developing Jetta are going to make it harder for Maric to crack the rotation soon, that is not to say he won't this season. 2010 is definitely the year for Maric, one way or the other.

Biz would do a tampon commercial if it would get him in front of a camera!! Has a passion for it, and obviously he is finding come success with it so far.

I am still in favor of players keeping some of the high numbers given to them. Rigoni made a name for himself wearing #43 and I really thought Jurrah could make #48 mean something.
-
We need to have something to offer up to one of our boom recruits next year! Keep it unallocated so we have something to offer someone else coming through the ranks. I get the feeling #11, #7 and #29 may be available soon enough..............

We have so many young guys that need games under their belt that the most recent draftees can wait. Blease, Straus, Watts and Bail have been on the list for 12 months longer and should be the guys we look to start playing a few more games. Scully & co might take a bit longer (Although I can see Trengove getting a strip round one, there is just something about him!) Soo many kids with only a handful of spots. Would love to see as many as possible get themselves right for the NAB cup, just to give us a small glimpse of what the future holds.

Great video (not a fan of the song in it though!) I wonder just how high Jurrah's ceiling is. If he keeps getting better he may be someone that us talked about when we are all gone. 2010 holds much excitement for the MFC.

Our time starts now, and beating these "over achievers" will be a big step in the right direction. At present, we are not worrying anyone. Most sides expect a win against the red and the blue. Proving we have developed will mean making examples of sides like Collingwood. We will see how things are progressing come preseason. Still a while yet, but 2010 will be the year the Dees start to remind all teams that we can get up for the odd WIN

The Wiz broke my heart. I will never get over it. Went from the 'Wizard" to "Purple Jesus". Selfish bastard never won a flag with the move, so I guess it hurt him in the end

With a bolstered midfield we could see the ball delivered much more efficiently and frequently than season past. This will allow more opps on goal for those forwards fit and firing. Could be the big season for Bate, looked good in parts last year and Is ready for the "Sylvia Leap". Watts could also take some strides forward, thats said of the new batch LJ has the best chance of kicking a bag next year.

Collingwood are seething, but to be honest who knows if those smug bastards would have even selected him if we didn't. If they were keen on him, they should have picked him up in the ND. I understand our reasons for waiting and seeing what happened during the end of that ND, Collingwood had seen his talents and should not have taken the risk of Melbourne claiming him in the PSD. Where they trying to get him as cheap as possible? Certainly looked that way by not using a ND selection on him. Where they hoping he would slip further into the rookie draft?? If so we may never have go to see Liam on the big stage. Were we lucky? Not really, we finished last and were in a prime position to pick any diamond in the rough via the PSD or RD. Where we lucky Collingwood wouldn't roll the dice on him in the ND- very lucky! I do hope LJ turns up the heat and makes Collingwood really suffer over missing out on such a unique talent. F%#k Collingwood!

If he is the best man for the job then that is just fantastic news for the club! Passion breeds passion.

The "Fire Hydrant" lives on. Good luck to him at PM!
-
I am amazed this guy didn't get on a rookie list. He will have to work at it, I am sure next year could be nicer to the big lad with an expanded draft. Could still be a demon yet!
-
He could end up playing more Games than Newton & Meesen combined....

*Sigh*

Even at the end of 2010 Jamar will still be miles better than the rest of the bunch. I think Fitzpatrick was drafted with the idea of playing him forward and in the ruck, so even after some years of development he might turn out to be a forward instead of a ruckman. Gawn and Spencer are a while off taking the #1 spot, and Meesen and Pj will be pushing to stay on the list. Jamar stays.

Well, If MacDonald turns out to be a dud we can always use him as a greeting guy. Seems to scrub up alright so might be useful at club functions. I am hoping more for 100 solid games, but being the door greeter is a nice backup!
-
Has the kind of Talent that allows him to be a matchup based player. I am not going to compare him to James Hird, however Hird is a prime example of this type of player. He could be moved forward, back and put in the middle and still make the game change. Cale might be this player for us (once again, no saying he will be at Hird's level, but he could carve out his own name in this type of role). He has shown some super talent. He is about 300 Cheeseburgers off being a superstar at AFL level!

Panos is still a Kid and is 100% worth rookie listing. I think if our situation was different (we have some rookie spots left) we would all be hoping he were rookie listed with the MFC. No point of looking at the downside of an unproven kid, the whole idea of Kids is you take a punt, especially at the Rookie and PSD as this is where the waters are murky. Joel MacDonald is the better option, he is a proven player at this level! What would be better is if we could have both, have the ready now option, and the maybe later option.
-
I would think that Given MacDonald will walk in to the dees best 22 (someone existing then needs to be cut to make way for him), spots for Kids will have to be earnt rather than just given out. The dees know given a kid on debut will draw a crowd, so I expect for there to be one kid playing round 1. My bet is Strauss, Trengove or Tapscott based on their physical make up. I think Scully might be a chance round 3-4, along with Blease who also is coming back from injury. I doubt we will be seeing Gawn/Fitzpatrick until late in the year, so the dees have to spread Trengove, Scully, Blease and Strauss's debuts over the first half of the season so they do not upset the team balance too much.

I am still not convinced our forward line will develop enough in 2010 for miller to be out of the job by 2011. Our forward line is the laughing stock of the AFL, and with no Robbo to chime in and kick goals, it will be Miller who will need to kick 3 a game if we are going to win 6-8 games next season. If Watts and Jurrah take some big strides in 2010, I would still think there would be another hole in that forward six which Miller can slot into. I think Miller has another 1-2 left at the MFC, longer is these kids take more time to develop. You never know, Brad could score himself a nice 3 years deal at the GC next season, so he might not be around in 2011 anyway.

Ball is a [censored]! He should have grown a set and put his hand up to play for us. Took the low road and I hope he gets what he is after.....shorter career with no flags! Look forward to seeing Ball blowing out his hammy chasing Scully and Trengove around the park next year. As for tampering, who cares! S%it happens. This stuff has gone on for years.
