  1. Before a horror run of Injuries Goose was right up there with the best KP defenders in the comp. Sadly like many players injuries have shortened his career. He will get picked up this year being that it is a "thin" draft, however I cannot see how a side that is pushing for youth and speed can make use of a good footballer who has been slowed and is nearing 26 years of age. I wish him the best of luck finding a new home, can't see it being with the dees.
  2. Great move by the dees. Starting to match some of the wealthier clubs for coaching staff which should help up fast track our young midfield.
  3. I bet me dressed up as Lois Lane would make your "Redleg" stand up on end. If Juice is still on the 2011 list you might want to buy extra Kleenex that week.
  4. Juice Newton= 2010 Delistee. Deal with it.
  5. You can add muscle..... sadly muscle does not mean he will lift his defensive pressure inside 50 and his ability to kick straight.
  6. Robbo in a Carlton Jumper has put me off dinner.......... He deserves another crack so good luck to him.
  7. They could all very well go top 5. That said, I do not think the dees would adjust picks 1 & 2 as JT and Scully are said to be in the mold as Toy and Swallow in terms of future in the big comp. It would surely adjust picks 3-10, which would mean our pick 11 and 18 would carry much more value than what they currently have. If "IFS" and "BUTS" were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas. We will do just fine with the players we select.
  8. If Talia and butcher are both available at pick 11, who do we take?? Both at one time or another were the "must have" talls of the draft- now seeming sliding outside the top 10. I am torn- we a desperate for a new forwardline which butcher could be a part of, but it seems that Talia carries less risk but prefers a backline role.
  9. GC calling their pick now has no bearing on what will take place next season. Us calling our pick could (unlikely given that we have the second pick that is still a 2% mystery). Would be nice for scully to spend some time at the club 5 weeks before he is due. GC exceptions are something we will just have to get used to over time.
  10. Carroll is done. If the hawks want to waste a spot let them go for it. No loss for us.
  11. What is all this talk about player being bought out Ravi?? We are not the New York Knicks, we do not have a magic bag that contains funds for such an exercise! PJ will play on. Like Meesen, PJ is playing for his career. Spencer just needs to outperform either PJ or Meesen and he will claim their spot for 2011. As for the draft, who knows what will happen. I really want Vardy at pick 18.
  12. Too hard to pick up Chicks in Melbourne because Melbournian women know they are not stars. In WA they might be able to get away with throwing the "AFL star" tag around. Kidding, PJ is a decent bloke and I am sure both lads are knee deep in groupie <insert inoffensive word describing local trollop here>
  13. There are never any guarantees with drafting. Even in JT and Scully are the "best" players available, chances are that in 10 years time pick 25 could end up being the best player in the bunch. You never know. Why stress? Top picks will be good players. Great players? Impossible to guess so don't lose sleep over it.
  14. I have not read this much Hype since....Jack Watts was drafted! Maybe this time around we should temper our expectations a tad. Kid is a gun, not the second coming of JC, just the first coming of JT. Look forward to watching him play. I will not be down on him when he gathers a low 6 possies and takes a few games to adjust. These kids will take time, and it will be worth the wait!
  15. The Dees will not have a premiership window open until these kids start hitting their straps. I think JT will stick with the team that drafts him regardless of where it is if a decade of finals is upon him early in his career. 2011-2021 Decade of the Demons
  16. I would prefer to give Bucks another go over some of these other players. The link below has a full list of axed players going forward: http://www.afl.com.au/retirements%20%20del...17/default.aspx Not many standouts IMO, if Ball passes then it starts getting a tad thin. MacDonald would be an option.
  17. If we are rebuilding, why not look at rebuilding in all areas? Our ruck stocks outside the Russian are laughable. If Vardy is there at Pick 18 then we would be stupid not to take him. Jamar is out only proven ruckman (it hurts to write this), so we really need to find a kid who can ruck for us in a few years time. From all reports vardy is the best going, so why the hell not! Meesen looked slow and average I watched him deserves another year to prove he has got it, i just can't seem him wowing us enough in 2010 to warrant keeping him around. He has one foot out the door IMO. Pj is Pj, he should have been groomed as a forward not a ruckman. This has stuffed him up big time, and will shorten his career unless he can learn to ruck and get involved in the game around the ground. Last chance for PJ, could save his career with a strong 2010. Jake Spencer looks like Napoleon Dynamite! GOSH, do I have to chase that dang ball!! Another preseason under his belt might turn out to be just what he needs. He might develop into Dynamite without the Napoleon part. He is ahead of Meesen at this stage, with youth on his side. If he develops he will be given a senior roster spot next season.
  18. He has 2 good years of footy left, and if I am Bradshaw I am selling myself to the highest bidder. Swannies or Carlton to roll the dice on Bradshaw methinks.
  19. If he nominates he does not want to play for the dees. Why waste a top 20 pick on a guy who doesn't want to play for us? We have everything to offer Luke Ball except finals appearances in the short term. If he wants the challenge, money and praise awaits him should he nominate instead for the PSD.
  20. Bartram will stay on the list in 2010. He has had his injury and form problems like all players, that and he father passed away which is not an easy thing to deal with at any age. We don't have players who can run with league stars at this point, and bartram is the #1 option for this role. You all say taggers need to do more, Rawlings stayed on Norths list for the best part of a decade purely as a tagger. Until we can develop a player that can be damaging and tag, Bartram is the #1 guy at the club and will be on the list until someone else can take over. Sure McNamara has only played 2 games, but this also tells you he hasn't been able to push for more than 2 games when we have been the worst side in the comp for the past 3 years. Bailey has given all kids a chance to blossom (just ask the vets who have been cut or forced to retire) yet here we are with McNamara with 2 games to his name. There are worse players on our list, but someone has to make room for a PSD pick (Ball??) or a budding pick #34 (Grimes??) 2 games does not warrant a spot, Bartram and Fetta stay, McNamara goes.
  21. 12 players axed? And i though we were rebuilding out list..... MacDonald will get picked up, not sure if he will make it to our list. Given the lack of supposed depth of this ND, many will nominate giving them a better chance at getting picked up. If the ball deal doesn't happen, MacDonald could become the prime target to convince to go into the PSD.
  22. 1.5million in debt. Why dont we fly the whole team to NY! Seems that we spent less effort on trying to recruit Judd (although Carlton always had $$$ plans for Judd) I am all for getting Luke Ball, but this is ridiculous. What happened to the statements about "him having to want to play for Melbourne". Flying to NY and twisting his arm is hardly him showing he wants to play for us.
  23. Jurrah can make 48 his own. We talk about #3 being Gazzas number, #2 being Robbie Flower, and of course #31 Barassi. Imagine kids in 40 years time being handed the #48 and it meaning something special.
  24. I like Vardy at 18 if available. How far will Carey fall? Pick 34 a possibility?
  25. He will be drafted, have spoken to a Collingwood supporter at work who has heard they will try him late with pick 62 if available. I can see him going to the Hawks or other before pick 62. Might be a flyer with pick 34, although I do think the dees have a short list for that pick and may go for someone younger.
