  1. Protect the head.. I watched the Geelong game, they let a few go - paid a few, cannot get them all right. Wouldn't of thought Bartel would need to duck. This deep in his career, it just baffles me. I think Selwoods are legit, he hits the ball at such pace, they do get him high, then you see players like Bartel throw their head back everytime the ball is close to them.
  2. IMO we are in a good position draft wise - around the 3-4 mark is perfect. Trade for established or take Petracca/Brayshaw - both ready made players. I liked the suggestion of trading 4 to GWS for Tomlinson and 20. So long as we could land Mitchell with 20, that is a super deal. Personally I'd gladly past with pick 4 alone for Tom Mitchell.
  3. IMO an end of first round pick would be fair. It should happen but won't happen.
  4. By Nath Jones stardards he was just solid. But by MFC standards Jones had a very good game.
  5. He was great early. Those first 2 steps, I wish most our players had that first quick burst. Jones is was solid by his own standards. Hawthorn one hell of a side.
  6. Evans is much better footballer than Grimes. Although, that isn't a massive feat.
  7. Wouild be a great get. He is a rich mans McKenzie.
  8. We'll see when I re-bump this thread in a couple of years. Evans buys and sells Grimes as a footballer. I'd keep McKenzie because he is a good tagger/aggressive player. Bail has shown improvements, enough to suggest he has gone past Grimes. Jack Grimes simply isn't very good, he is a shocking kick and is slow to put ball to foot. If Grimes has trade value, I'd off load him. He isn't getting a game on form.
  9. As soon as we cannot possibly make the finals, I could not care less where we end up.
  10. Martin is an exception because he actually had form when he left. If players like Blease and Tapscott haven't shown anything by now - then it is unlikely they will IMO. They've had more than enough chances, as has half our list.
  11. That is true. Hunt would have most our list covered. But I wouldn't pay overs for the bloke all the same.
  12. IMO if we can draft aggressively and draft the right players, we give ourselves a chance to make finals. Roos got the balance right at Sydney, in that he was able to bring in players that make an impact - but also have a future ahead of them. It is a blending the short term/long term view and making it work in practice. I hold hope we'll make the finals next year.
  13. I don't think Scully is a bust, he is where I thought he'd be at. Scully was a level below Martin and Trengove in the champs. I think it's human nature that once we decide on something - it is sometimes hard to change our minds. We then look for reasons to justify our choice, I relate that to Scully. The form of Dustin Martin at the time was smacking us in the face - we just chose to ignore it. The Scully hype even landed him a multi million dollar deal, but on actual performance he falls short - and from what I've seen has always fallen short of the best. Trengove and Martin were easy calls for mine. Wines was an easy call last year. This year I'd take Brawshaw before Petracca. Without being overly happy about taking either. I'd prefer to trade for an established player.
  14. I care more about not making the finals - than I do about winning the spoon. Every year we aren't in the race to win the flag is a failed year. To be in this race, we need to at least make the finals.
  15. Delist: Blease, Strauss, Tapscott, Fitz, Nicho. Treading finely: Terlich, Grimes, Trengove. There would be others in the VFL I'd sweep out the door. Evans, Bail and McKenzie I'd persist with for the moment.
  16. Dawes is still a shocking kick and a clumbsy mark. But I will add, his leadership has been invaluable. That is probably something I didn't expect from Dawes, such great leadership.
  17. Treloar, Shiel, Cameron, Mitchell.. Be good to land a couple of those names. All have a hard edge and can seriously play. Bring a couple of those players in, and with the inclusion of Hogan and hopeful improvement from Salem, Toumpas and co - we'll improve next year. Good drafting goes a long way, it can rapidly improve a list.
  18. I'd like to see us try snare O'Rourke and Plowman in the one deal. Shiel and Kelly the cream of the GWS crop for mine, but unlikely we'll be able to entice them back home atm.
  19. Petracca, Brayshaw or trade it.
  20. I don't know what he'd cost, but throw the sink at Joshua Kelly. Kelly is just class, doesn't waste much, absolute ball magnet. I don't know why Cameron keeps playing Kelly as sub, he is nearly their best player. Kelly does more in one quarter than Scully does in 3 games.
  21. Be surprised if the Dockers get up.
  22. Footy shows going to tell us something about the demands of Frawley - apparently. Look forward to it.
  23. Cyril is probably the most polished talent I've seen, it is a shame his body cannot hold up. Franklin probably has the most raw talent, but doesn't always put it together. Jurrah is probably a mixture of both natural talent and polished talent, but didn't quite work as hard as the other two.
  24. Tiges lack an inside mid, he is a good fit for them. Not sure we need Miles as much as they did.
  25. Cameron was their sole forward line at one stage. He is that player we've been waiting for.
