It's the players, not the coach(es)!
KingDingAling replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
That is one of the best posts I've read in my time here. -
We will not be given a PP. The AFL do not care about the MFC. We'll be lucky to get pick 3 compo for Frawley, once sides have a whinge - that will probably be relegated to pick 19 or 20. Next year, we'll hear Gill say that it is up to the Demons to improve. When you run a comp reactive to public opinion and backlash, it makes it hard to make simple - and logical - decisions. We should've had a priority pick last year, we were absolute garbage.

Let's cut to the chase... Who is gone!
KingDingAling replied to inanunda's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jones, Tyson, Vince and Cross have been solid. Thought Viney was decent across the backline at times today. But a lot of players staring down the barrell. Some tough decisions to make for Roosy, some players who haven't been on our list long - probably do need to go. -

It is the players I agree. We simply do not have the talent. We've shanked some great opportunities through the draft. Tyson has developed arguably better under MFC - than at GWS. Nath Jones is a high draft pick who has maximised his talent - whilst others have floundered. Maybe those others just simply werent' that good to start with... -
Welcome to the Melbourne Demons - Christian Petracca.
KingDingAling replied to Coup Cooper's topic in Melbourne Demons
No they won't. We seen Patton go down today, he is hardly a safe prospect for the GWS. If they can move Patton for pick 1 I think they'll do it. But they'd be silly to offload Boyd and I don't expect they will.. Things have changed for them after today. We don't really know that GWS are as hell bent on Petracca as we think. Their actions today suggested that the GWS will draft where they land. -
Stef has a good record this season against some of the better ruckman. Consistently smashes ruckman around the ground. Anyone waiting for Stef to drop off anytime soon are kidding themselves. Will go on with it next year, should never of been traded by MFC. I was against this on the first page of this thread. Neeld is a muppet, thankfully he no longer has anything to do with MFC.

Footscray v Casey Scorpions (Jesse Hogan returns)
KingDingAling replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to hear Pedo played well, that is fantastic news. -
He looks a top notch ruckman and top notch forward. This guy is reasonably safe. Not as safe as Brayshaw, but he is safer than past ruckman who were taken early and failed - ala: Tyrone Vickery. Wright appears to be a safer selection IMO. In saying that, we do need mids and our early picks should be to gain mids. I personally think Tom Mitchell would run rings around any early selection available in this draft. Not sure we'd have to give up an early pick for Mitchell either.

We'll have to use our second rounder on Stretch. Stretch would go top 15 if not F&S.

My thoughts are that Toumpas is soft and won't make it.

Sides will be lining up in their droves to bid on Stretch. What an absolute gun. On what little I have seen of this kid, I'd have him inside my top 10. Was far more impressive for SA than Toumpas ever was.

Wright would be a safer pick than some of the other forwards IMO. Should make it as a first class ruckman alone. I like Brayshaw though, kid has skills, toughness and can find the pill.
-
Same could've been said of Dom Tyson - and Anthony Miles. Jack Hombch from Port. GWS is a toxic environment, we land O'Rourke we got a gun. The kid can seriously play.

Carlton should drop Murphy
KingDingAling replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
Big difference between Murphy and McKenzie. -
If ever there was a player on the GWS list that could do a Tyson, it is O'Rourke. He'd be a great get, has the tools to be a star.

Hey Sammy, welcome aboard bud.

"Why aren't we investigating this" - Sam Newman.

He does look the goods.

I've defended Watts since he was drafted, but this year that has ended. I do not care what the club does with Jack Watts anymore. I like to think I know my football, and I will admit - I do not even know what areas Watts needs to improve in. He looks classy, skillful and poised, he has all the attributes I'd look for in a player. Yet he has absolutely no effect on the game. Maybe Jack's flaws are above the shoulders. I'd be interested to hear if the club has sought out a sports psychologist for Jack Watts.

We do need a back flanker/sweeper type player in the Malcheski mould. Be good if we could snag NM, but I'd be disappointed if Salem of Toumpas couldn't fill that role in 2015. NM would be a great teacher though. I see Salem is the perfect midfielder down the line, but his outside game would only benefit under the tutelage of Malcheski. Salem has sublime skills, but because he is so inside -he doesn't utilize his outside game as much as he could. We haven't really seen Salem be used as a mid thus far, but when he is ready, he'll be a jet, IMO Salem will be our best player within 3 years.

I'm just completely sold on Brayshaw. IMO Brayshaw is better inside than Petracca - which transfers better to the AFL game. Also, Brayshaw is dual sided, just as good on his left - as he is on his right. My knock on Brayshaw would be that he tends to just hack it on his boot out of the pack. And I will be interested to see what Brayshaw tests for the sprints - he doesn't appear overly quick. Petracca on the other hand is blistering, explosive and tends to find space. But not a great kick, I won't knock that. I would take Brayshaw ahead of Petracca, I think Brayshaw has the skill set and game similar to Wines/Martin.

I love how Roosy simplifies player roles. Now Jetta knows his role and goes about his business. Roos is a genius manager of players.

Good, solid career Moloney, well done champ. All the best.

If Frawley leaves we'll get top compo, it still sets us back - unless we trade it. Kids take a while to develop. The AFL can't even afford MFC to slip back any further than it has. I don't even think opposition sides will mount an argument against us having pick 3 or 4 for Frawley.
