We just need to pick the eyes out of the draft with the picks we currently have. Hopefully no club bids on Stretch and he slips to a 3rd rounder, that would help. Best case scenario is that we get pick 3 for Frawley and our early picks are 2,3 and a second rounder. Worst case scenario is that we get a second rounder for Frawley and clubs bid early on Stretch. Be interested to see what we get for Clark as well. Hopefully a second round pick.

Same, blokes a clown.

It is more than they'd receive next year. They'll be looking at a first round pick next year. I wonder whether Sando floated this idea and that is why he is sacked. Or whether Dangerfield wanted a flag, yet couldn't see Adelaide winning one under Sando, and that is why he is sacked. Either way, Sloane, Dangerfield and Walker all have mud on their hands, so it is unlikely they'd have so much pull - if they were actually leaving. Dangerfield has stated he desparately wants to win a flag, so I guess that counts MFC out.

Digging for gold - Targetting Under-achievers
KingDingAling replied to jabberwocky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tom Mitchell. Zac Jones. Dylan Shiel. Tom Clurrey. -
He is still contracted for 2015. We expect too much from these players, Dangerfield still has a year to run on his contract. Dangerfield won't be in a hurry to make up his mind, he is getting paid regardless - and probably maximise earnings waiting for free agency. So realistically, Dangerfield probably hasn't even thought much about it. Adelaide would be the ones rushing him to commit. I suspect that Sanderson wanted a solid committment from Dangerfield this year, and when he didn't get one he considered floating Dangerfield for trade. This obviously didn't go down too well with Patty. That is my take on it.

Watch the interview, then judge. It was the strongest stance I have seen from a player in the long time. Dangerfield is 110% not going anywhere.
-
I don't think Dangerfield is lived that Sanderson has been sacked. I think he is lived that the players have copped the blame.

I'd take Sloane ahead of Crouch. But be happy with either. Last year I thought Sloane was a B+ Grader that wouldn't make an A grade player. This year Sloane shown that he was an A grader - with the potential to go even further. Sloane reminds me a bit of Nathan Jones in the way he just breaks through barriers - probably on limited talent.

Goodwin has had a couple years under Bomber and will have another couple under Roos. If that isn't an apprenticeship then I don't know what is.

I vote 'bound for glory', would love to hear that every time we roll out.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS
KingDingAling replied to Demanding Success's topic in Melbourne Demons
I will be happy if either Toumpas or Trengove make the jump back to AFL. VFL can be a lonely place. Plenty of work to do for both lads. But.. Roos is the right man for the job. If Roos can't get them back in the seniors then no one can. -
I liked what one bloke on big footy said. If Harvey was in a Sydney jumper, Selwood would've been reported for headbutting.

Finals shouldn't matter. Star players, finals, old players, finals.. It should not matter. Rules should be rules. The AFL has clearly shown over the past couple of years why it will only ever be an Australian Sport.

Just the AFL. Is anyone surprised? After the drug saga, it is pretty clear that the AFL just do what they want. There is no structure or integrity.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
KingDingAling replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I rate Stretch a top 10 pick. IMO Stretch is a class above most these kids. I'd have him only behind Ahern for class - and equal with Laverde. Very skilled players all 3, safe kid on our hands here and one of the more underrated kids in this draft. -
Parker went on to captain Vic Metro was overlooked by all Vic sides. Just amazing really. I remember sitting there listening to the draft wondering whether Parker had suddenly lost a leg or something.
-
Nothings changed since the under 18s, Ollie is just now doing it against men. Kid will be a star, one of the more obvious selections we bungled. Although I was in shock the year we overlooked Parker. But what can you do, we don't make the calls.
-
Be a good guy to chase. Sits in between a first and second rounder. For a second rounder, get it done. Luey is a top shelf ruckman.
-
Tutt is a good player. I believe this rumour because he is a Roos type player. Very impressed with Tutt, be an excellent pick up.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is interesting. I spoke to a mate about Petracca the other day, he was massive on CP. The same guy didn't buy into the Toumpas hype and thought Wines was a safer option - and a beast. I asked him what is the difference between Toumpas hype Vs Petracca hype. He just said as an overall athlete, CP is panels ahead of Toumpas, and that CP is dominant in more areas - just not quite as good of a kick. He seemed to know more about Petracca as a basketballer and mentioned that he is worth taking the risk, and that he was a special athlete. Whereas he never seen that in Toumpas, yet he went early. Anyway for what it is worth, I'm more sold on Brayshaw, but that is off very limited viewing this year - of both players. In saying that, if Petracca is that good, he'll go pick 1 anyway. -
IMO Roos doesn't think Clark is mentally fit to play a role in 2015. I think for Mitch Clark to come back and command attention - just further feeds into his mental illness. I personally believe that Mitch Clark has now taken a step back in his rehab. He does clearly have an illness and it's perhaps more serious than MFC first thought. Lloyd is right in that it is all about compensation for MFC. Just on observation on Clarks behaviour lately, I'd lose respect for Roos if he couldn't see the forrest from the trees. Thankfully Paul Roos is ten steps ahead of all of us, maybe not 10 steps ahead of Ross Lyon, perhaps we should listen to Ross though.
-
If we can trade Clark for a second rounder - or get compo from the AFL for a second rounder. Hopefully this is on top of not having to use our second rounder on Stretch. We'd have 2 second round picks that we didn't expect. That could very well be as good as an early pick. Although of course we'd take a first round PP if given - preference. But.. Goddard could slip to the second round, Ahern could slip, some classy players will slip to that second round. This is a relatively even bunch of players through till 30 IMO. Petracca and Brayshaw stand alone as quality mids in the first 5, but even then - Laverde and Ahern arguably have more upside to their games.
-
I'd rather not go out anymore and not have to deal with it. Footy is relatively peaceful at home, at least in the shed.
-
Prestia, Taylor and Daniel all looked likely types in the Nationals. I'd expect Daniel will go in the first few rounds - probably late 3rd round. He is that good that I cannot see sides risking him to go into the rookie. We could be looking at him, I wouldn't pay much attention to Roos saying he hasn't heard of him. Daniel was a standout player in the champs, I'd be astounded if Roos hadn't heard of him.

Pick 3 for Talia, you are off your head.
