  1. Macrae has oozzzzed class since his debut. Vlaustin started well early - but has since slowed to a halt. Bontempelli looks as good a first year player as I've seen. Aish has impacted games and shown why he was highly touted. Billings has exceeded expectations and is already one of the Saints better players. Dunstan has performed to expectations for mine.
  2. All those players you mentioned are outside cherry pickers - with half the skill of football smarts/skill of Salem. Salem has few weaknesses. Those above mentioned players have few strengths, big difference.
  3. If we still have that war chest they were raving about the other year. Might be time to crack it open and throw the contents at Josh Kelly. He is up there with Bontempelli as far as potential superstars go.
  4. I agree. I don't think Watts will make it. He is slow off the mark. For a guy who tested well in the draft camp - he has shown very little of most attributes he excelled in.
  5. Cross - Job well done.
  6. Salem is going to be an ABSOLUTE gun! Very impressive young lad - with all the right tools and attributes to be a fine AFL player. Was always going to be a bit small in his first year, and given that he did have an illness - has done a hell of a job. Next year, midfielder from the get-go and a very effective midfielder. Atm, just a young lad trying to see the year out.
  7. Good effort by the lads so far.
  8. Cross is playing well. His work on Priddis has been exceptional.
  9. Adapt, survive, then prosper. Hard road atm, we need to find the Rockliff's, Sloane's and Parker's of the draft.
  10. Hard not to skyrocket with Boak, Hartlett, Wines and Wingard in the side. Port were fortunate to get a top 5 kid in Polec for cheap and get Ebert dirtcheap. SA sides only have to compete against each other when players want to come home. Vic clubs have to compete with many more sides and the weak Vic clubs - like MFC - just are not a chance.
  11. I doubt Clark would play for another club, here is a bloke who is already doing it tough. He'd cop heat from the public if he played elsewhere and he doesn't need that sh*t. If he wants to just play football with no pressure, have some fun and hang with his mates, he'll be back at MFC... if he even plays again.
  12. Combination of bad recruiting and lack of development.
  13. We'll get good compo for Chip, but I doubt we'll get a PP.
  14. I don't like opposition coaches commenting on whether we should get a priority pick or not. Richardson needs an uppercut.
  15. In fairness to Emma, not many other journo's writing on the topic seem to understand either. Caro appears to grasp the concept of the 'big picture' - but not many others seem to want to acknowledge the good of the game.
  16. Yeah I agree, I don't think Cam Ling is the answer to our problems. Ling is far too green, will be for some time.
  17. With the voting polls attached to negative articles by Barrett. Just so then he can later justify his uneducated rants - like he is writing for the people. Barrett is a small minded person, he doesn't know football and he doesn't understand what is best for the game. Opposition supporters think with their emotions as to why MFC shouldn't get a priority, they fail to see the big picture and the good of the game.
  18. Actually Kelly was most effective early, he was busiest in the first 2 quarters.
  19. I think the AFL will give us a second round PP.
  20. I think Paul Roos will make a pretty strong case. Lack of talent at disposal, psychologically damaged players. Poor drafting by previous board. Free agency resulting in a loss of experienced players. Loss of players to depression and other mental issues (Clark, Jurrah). Inability to rebuild due to the introdcution of new franchises. Constant merri-go-round of coaches over the past 7 years. And the list goes on. It would be much harder to argue against a priority pick.
  21. Hard to say. Bontempelli looks like one out of the box. Rule of thumb is to always take the proven players over potential superstars. Draftees are just potential.
  22. Roos would trade in players and MFC would be competitive. Get in Mitchell, Shiel/Treloar, those type of guys. We desperately need a Pity Pick.
  23. We should get a PP, but there is zero chance of this happening.
  24. I've always seen Dawes as VFL material. He isn't a footballer. But he is the type of guy I'd want around a club.
  25. I like what Roos did there. He pointed out that the top 4 sides are similar to last year. The top 4 sides next year - will be similar to this year. Through free agency if players leave the top clubs - they go to other top clubs, not bottom clubs. With the introduction of GWS and GC, bottom sides have missed out on a lot of talent. Roos would be scratching his head as to how we are going to improve enough to make finals. The club is bereft of talent and in the current landscape of AFL - talent does not want to play for poor clubs.
