  1. Yep, best re-signing since Roos joined the club. These 2 blokes are absolutely MASSIVE for this club, we were in a dark place. Thanks PJ, I appreciate your work. You have saved this football club and I am grateful.
  2. Eddie is spot on. Eddie uses this platform to raise the real issue here, the academies, COLA. McGuire has every right to ark up over this. The AFL cannot even get it right on the field, now it want to come to Collingwood and demand they hand out to bottom clubs. So I see why Eddie is peeved. He has every right to be peeved, and he has a point as well. The league will be more equal if the AFL scraps COLA, and the academies. McGuire highlights that the Bulldogs are as competitive as Collingwood, and it is hard to argue against that. Off field spending isn't all it is cranked up to be. Eddie wants the AFL to get things right on the field and let clubs have their freedom off field, that is hard to argue against. Thank god this guy is around.
  3. It will be something else next week. The week after that, it will be something else. Thankfully not a MFC problem anymore.
  4. Kelly is the one I'd be after. He really fits the mould. As much as I love Shiel and Treloar, they would both come at a cost - quality picks/player/$$$. We need to chase GWS players that could be the next Shiel or Treloar, but just aren't mature enough yet. Both Kelly and Whitfield fit that mould, either player could even surpass Shiel and Treloar, and at the moment - they wouldn't come at such a high price. I think to land Shiel or Treloar, It would take a quality pick and player, plus a decent contract. Landing Kelly or Whitfield should only cost us a high pick, we could save 200-300k as well.
  5. Because Tom Mitchell is back, he is a better midfielder, McVeigh is seeing more time, Parker will be in there, Kennedy, McGlynn, Hanners, Jack, possibly Lloyd. I just think Heeney will see limited time in the midfield, at least compared to Cripps, and to a lesser extent Brayshaw. But, I reckon Brayshaw is already climbing over some of our second tier mids, since Brayshaw has moved past the sub vest, he has shown he is capable of being our 3rd mid/change. It is only round 6, there is still a long way to go. I just like Cripps and Brayshaw over the course of the season.
  6. If you identify the right horse, the rest is somewhat irrelevant. John McCardle knows this - under bidder for Black Caviar, a perennial 'sit and steer' job/champion of the turf. I suggest MFC put more time into recruiting and less time into other areas. With the right player, a lot of the marketing, etc, takes care of itself.
  7. Initially I backed Cripps at $12. Then I went hard at Brayshaw at $30 plus. Now I've went back and unloaded on Brayshaw recently at $21. I think from now until the years out I will just smash Brayshaw in until he is at $2. Pretty straight forward for me, I think it is a 2 players race. Hogan won't get the supply IMO, Heeney has had his game time in the midfield, McCarthy has played weak teams, he'll struggle to kick goals each week. The only dangers I see to Brayshaw, is Cripps. I think at $21, Brayshaw is an absolute lock for rising star. Cripps is into $4, some value still. I don't think you could go wrong with those 2. Even outside dangers in Dom Sheed, have slowed down, the pace of AFL has caught up with him. Broomhead, while capable of taking the award out, isn't getting the game time in the middle that Cripps and even Brayshaw is getting. But I would watch him the next couple of weeks just incase.
  8. Freo will NEED Jesse, they'll have cap space once Pav, Sandilands, McPharlane, Mundy, Crowley and Johnson retire. But they will be also a less appealing proposition for young Jesse. Without those experienced players, Fremantle will not be the side they are today. Those players I mentioned are ALL key position players. So while they might have Fyfe, Hill, Neale, they will not have the dominate KP players they have today. They will need Jesse, they will have money, but they won't be in a better position going forward than the MFC - who will also have money. This is an easy decision for Hogan, he isn't silly. Jesse Hogan is the very least of our worries. I worry more about getting Trengove and Petracca healthy, because those 2 players healthy - are like bonus top 5 picks.
  9. Obviously there is something behind that.
  10. I do believe football in QLD is dysfunctional atm, so I'd be looking to raid both teams. Prestia, McKenzie, Lewis Taylor, James Aish, Charlie Dixon. This off season will be the perfect time for us to target all 3 clubs, GC, GWS and Brisbane.
  11. I wouldn't take Bennell. He has all the talent in the world, but I suspect he is only just hanging in there. Gold Coast taken a BIG risk by drafting him, and I think he is doing a good job to hold it together. I thought he'd be home by now. McKenzie would be a good target for us.
  12. I expect ANB and Stretch to make the step up to AFL, they are quality types. Blokes like Matt Jones, Jack Grimes, Jimmy Toumpas, Rohan Bail, while they try hard, they aren't at that (AFL) level - and I suspect never will be. MFC has gone through a mediocre phase where a lot of players get games, where in a successful side, they'd be no where near AFL level.
  13. Kennedy Harris COULD be a good player, sadly, he makes too many silly mistakes. He is becoming a frustrating player. I don't even want to hear Danny Frawley say what we need either. Frawley is a simpleton, I know we are strugglers, but I don't need that [censored] to chime in.
  14. Brayshaw and Vandenberg are shining lights - again.
  15. Not the type of player you can rebuild a club around though, and Carlton do need to rebuild. I would put up Kruezer, Murphy, Yarran, Walker, anyone else with value. Probably hold onto Gibbs, Menzel, Cripps and the younger brigade.
  16. I think that is a pretty good assessment.
  17. We can beat Freo. We shown in the NAB cup that we could be competitive with Freo. The issue in that game was consistency - we only played a quarter and a half, then shut it down. Against sides like Freo when you shut it down, they make you pay. All good sides make you pay when you drop your guard, Freo are a very good side. It will be a big test for our lads, but we need to focus, keep our heads, and stick to our game for a full 4 quarters. That is our best chance. Nathan Jones would be confident that we are capable for doing that, but actually putting it into practice is the big challenge we face.
  18. They should've offloaded Steve Johnson to GWS when they had the chance. Would've freed up money for them to chase Dangerfield as a FA. Missed opportunity by the Cats.
  19. It's just a constant need for attention and nurturing with Clark. Good riddance he isn't our problem. Lumumba has been super for this club. He is no fuss and just gets it done.
  20. Welcome aboard Alex, may your time at Demonland be a good one.
  21. Yes, we should be interested. He was highly rated a few years back, wouldn't hurt us to have a look at him.
  22. Newton is just ticking along nicely, I reckon he'll have a break out game soon. Great pick up.
  23. I listen to a lot of this dribble, but don't take it too seriously. Behind a lot of these agendas - are money driven intentions. From the 'fabricated' stories churned out by the media, right down to the overreaction of domestic violence, there will always be groups willing to push an agenda - if it is financially beneficial to them. The moral crusaders (white knights) amongst the media who have an opinion on EVERYTHING - are the same guys going through bins, not fact checking, and making up stories with no actual basis to them. On the weekend in the paper, I think I even read a Mick Malthouse after game interview that wasn't even done by him, a few years ago I'd of nearly fallen of my chair, these days I am not surprised one bit.
  24. Well played Roosy.
