In - Tyson, JKH or Michie Out - Jones, vandenBerg Hopefully MFC take a conservative approach with ANB. Round 15 onwards for mine.

Yeah, out coached today Roosy. Oxley killed us playing loose. I'm not going to make excuses for Roos today, but he is improving us regardless. By the time Goodwin takes over, I think he'll make a better game day coach. Roos/McCarthy development is second to none. We probably do need to attack more at times. Brayshaw - Super game, tried all day, got better as the game went on. Classy, clean, and effective. Jones - Back to his best, was vintage today. Vince - Excellent game, really is having an underrated year, like Brayshaw - good on both sides of the body. Howe - Pivotal early, kept us in the game till half time. I'm not too disgruntled at the loss, Collingwood are hard to topple on QB.

National Under 18 Championships - 2015

That's good, I hope Schache does go top 3, likewise Francis (SA). I don't think St Kilda or GC will take forwards, but I agree Brisbane and Carlton will. This would put us closer to Parish or Weitering. Can't see it happening, but it is only early days. I thought Glen (VC) looked classy.. very calm and does not waste it. -

Glen, he is some player this kid. Absolute stand out. Others that have caught my eye, Tashevski-Beckwith (Metro), Collins (Country), Cole (Country), and Wietering (Country). Parish is also a very precise kick, has done a few good things. -
National Under 18 Championships - 2015

Let's just see how the nationals pan out first Norm. -
Kelly is a more realistic target. If he was to opt out, he could nominate Melbourne. He is close with Salem. If I were in his boots I'd actually opt out and nominate MFC. We will be well placed to receive an early pick, package it up with Howe - and she's a done deal. If GWS are even in a position to keep Kelly - after the amount they will be paying Shiel, Treloar, Coniglio - then they have a 'bottomless wallet'. It's time MFC broke out this 'war chest' that we harped on about. Have we played the long game? I hope so.

I don't think we need Salem in the midfield yet, he probably needs another pre-season in the gym. With a smaller body, in the midfield, Salem would be too hard for his own good. Eventually he will be a midfielder, and I anticipate, probably the best midfielder we've seen in a long time - at least at MFC. But at present, IMO, we have bigger issues than Christian Salem, I mean, Dom Tyson is down on form, Toumpas.. Watts.. Grimes has at least improved lately. That is a good sign. As for Lumumba, back on topic. I think he has had a reasonable year. I like him out there, he has a lot of mongrel in him. I think we need a guy like Heritier out there, he doesn't drop his head, he mostly gives his all - even if he is a bit limited. He is necessary IMO.

I couldn't care how many we win this year, so long as we see improvement, keep grinding out games, and continue to improve on our pressure. We need to keep the pressure on for longer, and obviously not totally drop our heads and stop playing. I think we have bigger issues than winning games. For example, there is no point winning games if we cannot improve upon our weaknesses - in the long term, we will win more games if we can identify and improve upon areas that we are struggling in (continued pressure, resilience). It must be frustrating for Paul Roos, because he has coached a side more than capable of implementing his teachings (as we seen against the Bulldogs), but too often, he is stuck coaching a team that just looks down on confidence.

Not to mention the government taking their land away from them, then using it for the purpose of mining, etc. As far as 'lifestyle choices' go, it is a drop in the ocean compared to how much the governments have cashed on out mining over the years. The imprisonment rate is also a disgrace, the rapid rise of imprisonment amongst indigenous females is something that is grossly overlooked. For all the who-ha about other female related issues facing the country, advocates and campaigners seem to go missing when it comes to the injustices facing indigenous women. My guess is that there isn't any money in it for them.

By overlooking MFC for PP last year, I thought the powers to be (AFL) were setting themselves up for a fall. Given that Carlton were always going to be worse this year - than we were last year. Now the AFL will be placed in a difficult situation. Because to allocate Carlton a PP would be seen as playing favorites. Especially when MFC was fined 500k for tanking, and Carlton were the most obvious tankers in the history of the game. Why should Carlton get a PP? Why should other teams be slotted back a spot in the draft because Carlton mismanaged their list. In the past 5 years Carlton have traded out Sam Jacobs, Shaun Grigg, Eddie Betts, Jarrod Waite, Jeff Garlett, and mismanaged and traded out Brendon Fevola. On top of trading in Henderson, they also got a decent pick for Fevola - which they used on Kane Lucas. They failed to develop Lucas. Sounds like MFC all over again for Carlton. We didn't get a PP, neither should Carlton.

Basically just a site full of social justice warriors, continuously running the narrative of the victim. You aren't missing much, in fairness, I haven't been there for a long while - but I doubt that site will ever change.

The moderation on this site is excellent. Unlike other football sites, Demonland at least allows for a balanced discussion. One mention of the name Andrew Bolt would probably be enough to get you banned on progressive sites like big footy. We should all be thankful that the moderators around here at least allow for a difference of opinion. Just my opinion.

National Under 18 Championships - 2015

Interested to see the extent of Skinner's knee injury. I think he could be one to keep an eye on. Could be a good late pick. Has good football bloodlines. -
Realistic targets off of that OOC list would include. Jacob Townsend, Matt Buntine, Andrew Moore, and Nathan Gordon. Of those, I would be specifically targeting Buntine and Moore, then would settle on the other 2. That would be a good start, I think it's practical. Outside of those, we'd have to pay massive overs. This trade season, the key will be - patience. Allow the chips to fall as they may, then pick up the scraps. I think players like Townsend, Buntine, Corr, and others, could be forced out for cheap towards the back end of the trade period. Whatever the case, MFC have to do what other clubs aren't doing. If MFC chases a big time player, it will have to be Kelly, Whitfield, or someone with scope to improve. It is unlikely we will prize out Treloar, Shiel, Dangerfield or Sloane. But, Kelly and Whitfield are - what Shiel and Treloar were coming into last trade period. But, IMO, that is all fairly ambitious, and I'd be happy to settle with Buntine, Moore, Townsend or Gordon. Another target that might come into calculations is Tomlinson.

West Coast are playing a shocker today.

Yeah, I agree. Leave these type of threads to the social justice warriors over at big feminist (big footy). Close thread, let's get back footy.

We were on our way to smashing Port as well, till the umps decided to start giving them free kicks in front of goals. I don't blame the players for dropping their heads, I've played against the umps in my time, it becomes disheartening. All that hard work seems like it's all for nothing. Once we get back to the MCG, get more competent umps, the Bulldogs won't be the last side we smash this year.

Delistings/trades at end of the season

Bail and Matt Jones have to go. That would be a good start. -
Michael Long has similar views and also speaks up. Adam Goodes isn't the only one that speaks up, but he is the only one (indigenous) being 'booed'. I suspect you are right that 50% of Australian's are inherently racist, but I disagree that the only reason Goodes is being booed is due to race. IMO it has to do with the perception that Goodes is selfish, much like Brent Harvey. Both receive criticism over their selfish behaviour - and this leads to people not liking them.
-
Yeah I switched it off after they started giving Port free kicks in front of goal. When you play at country grounds - you get country umps. I knew we'd drop our heads after the umps intervened and evened it.

GAME DAY at Alice Springs - Round 9

Easily our best player. Brayshaw is overtaking our midfield. Probably be our best player by years end. -

We have no one that can run with Gray. Lack of pace through the midfield evident today. -
