  1. Yep, he was a must have in Fantasy football last year because he could rack up meaningless possessions.
  2. Yes he is a better option than Oskar Baker, but I want our kids like Howes, Laurie and Woey to be pressing for selection.
  3. Brilliant strategy of trading in 2 players who are coming off long term injuries. If Bruce is only on our books for 1 year, then a straight swap for Tomlinson is ok. But if we extend his contract then we've lost the plot. Bring back Josh Mahoney.
  4. I knew there'd be one. AJ's career was almost finished by the time the Eagles entered the competition, so no real go home factor.
  5. There is no way North would take Jackson in the PSD.
  6. Regardless, it's still not a great return on top end WA draftees.
  7. Just thinking about that, and I realised that we have a poor retention rate of WA players acquired at the top end of the draft. Here's a list off the top of my head of those who ended up back in WA: Luke Jackson Jesse Hogan Cale Morton (bust) Jeff Farmer (freo traded the rights on him for Phil Gilbert) Troy Longmuir Phil Gilbert Jason Norrish Darren Kowal Warren Dean (Pre draft) I can't actually think of a WA player who started and finished his career at Melbourne. I'm sure there's some.
  8. So we boycott them if we don't get a fair deal for Jackson.
  9. Given this is the Trade section, have we swapped guernseys with Hawthorn for a 2nd rd pick?
  10. Cameron Schwab left it up on his whiteboard.
  11. He might help with our salary cap. Looks like the type of bloke who'd accept a slab and a carton of ciggies as match payment.
  12. No he wouldn't. If that was the case, other clubs would be chasing him big time. Tim Lamb came out and said that we are well covered in that area. In other words, Tomlinson is down the pecking order. There was a reason why he didn't finish top 10 in the Casey BnF, and other defenders Buntine and Ellison did. Tomlinson quite often got caught in no mans land when the opposition won a contested possession and kicked long. And he's not a good one-on-one defender either. His stat line would look good because he took the kick-outs and played on, and also would get a lot of handball receives. Would love to see another club take him off our hands, but I fear he'll be a list clogger on good money for the next 2 years.
  13. It's obvious that neither Freo or WCE are prepared to sell the farm for Jackson. Neither club is getting in a bidding war because they don't have to. My take is that Freo committed to Jackson early this year, and Jackson was sold on the idea. Freo have cooled on what they think Jackson is now worth after his underwhelming season, but don't want to renege on their financial offer. Freo will get Jackson, but not at the same price they would have given up last year.
  14. We currently have 2 KPFs in BBB and T Mac, who are banged up, and would have us questioning their output going forward. Both are younger than Max. So why do people think that acquiring Grundy and giving Max more time up forward will extend his career?
  15. Sidebottom looked disinterested in 2021, hence his relegation. McRae got him firing again.
  16. New coach that doesn't rate him, and took them from a bottom 4 to a top 4 team. McRae knows what he's doing.
  17. I suggest you re-watch it, and tell us which plays Jackson was instrumental in. He was involved in some, but it was primarily due to our mids winning contested possession, and the Dogs players fumbling or falling over at inopportune times. And even if he was largely instrumental, 15 minutes isn't a good measurement of a players quality. Zaine Cordy had an impactful 2016 GF, and hasn't amounted to much.
  18. I actually think it closes the door on Thommo. Doubt that the Dogs will pursue him, and can't see too much interest from other clubs. Either way, Tomlinson would be a salary dump by us, and we'd need to pay part of his salary and not expect anything in return.
  19. Brad Scott has come out and said that the club intended on going through the draft rather than trading in experienced players. I wouldn't be surprised if the meeting with Harmes was teed up by Mahoney and Dodo, but Brad Scott has overruled them.
  20. I hope that means that we may have another target, and not re-signing Baker.
  21. You should be ecstatic with this trade given how poor Jason Taylor is with later picks. We've taken them out of his hands.
  22. Agree. You had people saying that we should give up a pick in the teens because that's what Grundy is worth.
  23. Did you pinch this from a Trade Radio caller?
