I'd love to have a wager on that. North are clearly in the box seat. Our F1 could be 14-18. North's have far greater draft capital, and Eagles are guaranteed of getting Curtin with pick 2 or 3.
-
I honestly think that North are playing games at the moment. WCE probably requested pick 2 or 3 plus another 1st rounder and a future 1st. North countered with 4 middling picks which wouldn't net the Eagles Curtin. The Eagles seem set on Curtin, whilst wanting to leverage the no.1 pick. The only club that can guarantee that result is North. I reckon it ends up being Pick 2 + 2 late 1st round picks.
-
Curtin plays at Casey all year whilst Reid wins the Eagles BnF. They'd be asking for Curtin + 2 top 5 picks for Reid.
-
My source in Perth said that West Coast see Reid as a flight risk, so they will definitely be trading pick 1. And I still think that he's going to North with either pick 2 or 3 plus add-ons.

I gather that some people don't watch Eagles games. Darling is cooked, but let's pay him $800k for 2 years, and trade JVR.
-
JVR isn't KPF depth. He was essentially our no.1 KPF this year in his 1st season of AFL, and had to take on ruck duties later in the year. Naturally he tired, and his performance suffered. As for the astute appraisal, what are the main avenues to goal for the likes of Lynch, Hawkins, King brothers. Larkey, Mitch Lewis, Marshall? I don't see them as goal poachers. And how does our forward structure look if Ben King doesn't become available next year?
-
I'll confess that I haven't seen much of Fullarton, but criticism of his selection is premature. Grundy and Jackson combined for 21 goals in 39 games over the past 2 years as ruck/forwards for us. That's pathetic. We know that Max is at his best when he spends a majority of his playing time in the ruck. If Fullarton can pinch hit in the ruck and contribute 15-20 goals as a forward, then it's a win for us. And I'm sure JVR's goal output will improve without the ruck duties. I can't see anything negative with this trade. If it doesn't work, we are no worse off.

Pass. Is 31 and had his worst season. No chance that anyone is giving up a decent pick for him.
-
Both Petty and JVR are legitimate swingmen, but are our best 2 kpfs. Adams is still developing, but is a wait and see. Maybe long term Jefferson could be developed as a key back. There's plenty of instances of key forwards who have developed into key backs.

T Mac extended out his contract to help the club re-sign other players. It's unethical for the club to push him into retirement if he wants to continue playing. If T Mac and BBB spend all year injured or at Casey, that's on the club's list management, not the players.

No Ralphy. The best deal for Melbourne is to extend his contract next year.
-
Frawley joined the Hawks after they won a flag. Danger joined the Cats when they still had the core of their 2011 Premiership team. Cameron joined the Cats after they lost the 2020 G/F. His point stands. They acquired big names whilst in their premiership window.
-
Both those clubs acquired 1st round picks subsequently via trades. North need picks in order to get Pick 1. And Adelaide now have 3 picks in the top 20, which dare I say it, may be used to acquire Petty. I'm just curious to know what our intentions are for pick 11. Why is it so important to move up 3 places in the draft?
-
If that's the case, why do the pick 14 to 11 upgrade? Even if we don't intend on using the 2nd round picks we threw in, we could have traded them for future picks?
-
You misread his post. He's referring to clubs that had already won a flag in their window and acquired a big fish.
-
If Duursma is that good, he'd be going no. 1. Personally I'd rather draft 2 of the best 11 kids than someone who's probably rated 4th or 5th best.
-
I agree that we should pursue someone like Hayes or Lycett. I doubt that the club sees Fullarton as a successor to Max. hence the 2 year deal.
-
There's no draft or salary cap in European football, hence the clubs with money dominate every year. So the powerhouse clubs prefer to trade to an overseas or non contending club. In AFL it's hard to predict which club will emerge the following year, so it's not something a club would factor in.
-
Is it politically incorrect to call them "chinaman" now?
-
He'll fit it well at the Dees then. Fyfe is a shocking kick for goal.
-
If GWS were desperately tight for cap space, they could extend Haynes 1 year over 2 years, like we did with T Mac.
-
Received a message from a good source in Perth that West Coast have come to an agreement with North to trade pick 1. Full details of the trade weren't specified, but it seems logical given that North have picks 2 and 3. What doesn't seem logical is our upgrade from pick 14 to 11. It was never going to be a deal breaker in getting pick 1, so something else must be on the cards.
-
I heard from a reliable source that Petty still has a valid library card in Adelaide. He's going.
-
We still have to trade for McAdam and Fullerton.
-
But he's a 2xAA, lol. A majority on here have egg on their face with how they perceived Grundy's market value.
