  1. If we let Weideman go, who do we have as a backup ruck at Casey? Lose 3 ruckman (Jackson, Daw, Weid) and gain 1 (Grundy). We'd need 2 additional ruckmen on our list should Weid go.
  2. Didn't Lamb say he's not going anywhere?
  3. Jason Taylor has taken FOAR's advice, and put a line through your name as a potential draftee.
  4. Players are more understanding than supporters. They'll still remain friends outside of football. And as you say, it would be different if he was pushed.
  5. Petty finished 15th in the Bluey, so Harmes is in good company. I'd say it's all about Harmes' contract and freeing up cap space. Harmes is replaceable, but if it's to come internally, I'm not sure who's an upgrade on Harmes.
  6. Gus doesn't hit the scoreboard. Has only kicked 5 goals in 49 games over the past 2 years, admittedly some as a defender this year. Jordon kicked 7 this year. I think Jordon's disposal and overall game was very good this year until he started playing with injury. He's maligned unfairly.
  7. Schache, Weid and Tomlinson rotting away at Casey. Yuck. Regardless of how cheap he comes, unless the Footy Dept see him playing a meaningful role at AFL level, it's a waste of a list spot.
  8. When the club comes out and says "Player X is a required player", I read that as "We won't be trading him for peanuts".
  9. Tim Lamb's words about Kozzie are no different to what Goody was saying about Jackson this time last year. Until Kozzie extends his contract, the scuttlebutt will always be around.
  10. The problem is that ANB doesn't have any currency.
  11. We'll agree to disagree. All Spargo does is give away needless frees due to his poor tackling technique.
  12. Well if Demonlanders love Spargo, then they'll absolutely love Hunter. The difference is Hunter knows how to find the ball.
  13. Good question. Sparrow and Jordon can both play inside mid. Where is Gus going to play? From Casey, maybe they will try to groom Chandler and Laurie as midfield/forwards.
  14. TT was clearly out of sorts at North this year. The form he showed in the 2nd half of 2021 was outstanding. He's a perfect fit for us. If Harmes has been told that he can look elsewhere, I hope that means that we have TT in our sights.
  15. Pace is still an asset when it comes to defensive pressure and transitioning. But I'm not fazed by TB's departure, and expect Baker to be delisted. Would be nice to have some ready made replacements who have leg speed.
  16. In other words, you've got no idea of whether he did have a contract offer earlier in the year. What's your source? If he's devastated with being pushed out, I doubt that it's true. And based on the compo pick we're likely to get, WCE aren't paying him huge dollars.
  17. Was thinking the same thing. They'll need to lose a player in order to satisfy North. Ironic that Adelaide offered North a bounty last year for Pick 1, so they could get JHF.
  18. That's how I feel about Bedford. We need another pacey forward with X factor, but Bedford doesn't strike me as a natural footballer. I'd like to see Chandler given the same opportunities as Bedford, or AMW given a crack if he continues to develop. GWS probably see him as a replacement for Bobby Hill, but I'm not sure that Bedford is a walk up start at the Giants. If we rated Bedford highly enough, we would have offered him a decent contract mid-season when he was getting regular games.
  19. Players like Spargo need to stop flapping their arms, and get to the fall of the ball. Plus kicking to a stationary target can be easily intercepted. Kicking to a leading target is the higher percentage play. I've watched the 2021 GF probably 50 times, and the most inexcusable bit of play was at the start of the last qtr. Sparrow rightfully ignored Spargo's lead into the pocket, and kicked it to BBB at the top of the square. Spargo had a dummy spit instead of running to the fall of the ball, should BBB have dropped the mark. Spargo gets way to many credits for his 1 or 2 30 metre passes a game.
  20. Most players in Hunt's position would take the security of a better financial offer, when your current club doesn't show you any love. I agree with Picket, and Hunt should have been given an opportunity on the wing or up forward. Let's compare Hunt (the ball butcher) to Spargo (elite kick) when both were played up forward. Spargo 2021/2022 49 games 28 goals 28 behinds Hunt 2019 21 games 21 goals 10 behinds Hunt's pace could have been utilised to apply forward defensive pressure, rather than go-slow Spargo.
  21. Your time machine was warped. You needed to program it 20 years earlier before Tom's father Jack was zoned to Geelong. Jumping Jack Hawkins was a very good footballer.
  22. My argument is that I'd like us to get a player that may change the dynamics of how we play, because there was little evidence of Plan B. The Cats getting Stengle was probably seen as a minor acquisition before the season started, but ended up being hugely important.
