Daniel falls into the Hunter and Billings category. Their best is well past them, and unwanted by their clubs for a reason. D'Ambrosia and Chol both had unfulfilled potential. I don't read the H/S or listen to SEN, but I do know from mates who support Essendon, Carlton, Richmond and Collingwood that the talkback lines run hot on SEN when these teams are struggling on or off the field.

Houston - Don't want to give up 2 1st rd picks. Rather go to the draft. Macrae, Parker, Shiel - No. Getting players on the decline has been terrible for us in the past 3 years. Peatling, Hobbs, Davies - Yes. Young players who have shown ability and could be prised from their club.

The criticisms of Fritsch are ridiculous. As others have pointed out, it's not always the role of a key forward to be chasing backmen up the field. Sure, he could improve his tackling, but nearly everyone on our list could improve some aspect of their game. Some Demonlanders want to trade him in 2020, but without him, we don't win a flag. I always go into games thinking that unless Fritsch or Kossie fire, we have no hope of winning.

It's impossible to measure the impact of assistant coaches. But I feel that Goodwin needs some fresh ideas around him. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a club decision to part with Stafford, but gave him a dignified exit by saying it was his decision to leave.
