Colin Sylvia - needs to find a position

Colin played in defence yesterday in junk time, and was ok but the game was already over. I'm thinking why not play him as a tagger? He is hard enough, play him in a role like Josh Carr, defensive and make him niggle the opponent. If he got on top of his opponent he could hurt the opposition with his skills? Any thoughts?

Tackles too ferociously, would give away too many frees as a pure tagger. I like Col because of the aggression. He can do most things required at this level. He has marking ability, he is not slow, he is strong, he can kick. He does not seem to be high IQ, but he's not Robinson Crusoe there in AFL ranks. If he can learn to manage his aggression and direct it at the main objective... Win the ball... Play the %'s... Team above all, he is a worthy rep in our best 22.

Brock by a mile, Sylvia has more genuine skill, but a lot less desire, dedication and application than brock.

I'd liek to see Sylvia play the sweeper roll in the center square a she can run straight at the opponents and maybe by throwing him in the guts he might actually try a bit harder.

Keep Sylvia at half back he has tried every other position and failed. He should have been tried there ages ago. I would like to see Jones play more as a tagger. I feel sorry for McLean if he was in any other team he would be a star. I can't think of a player at his age that cops the best tagger week in week out the best players in every team are a lot older if he had quality players helping him out he would be doing what Johnstone is doing at Brisbane probably better actually. He showed what he is capable of when he wasn't tagged in the first half against Geelong getting 20 disposals. Why they thought Jones would be a more damaging player than McLean is beyond me?

I honestly thought in the early days that Col was a goer.. he now just strikes me as a Junk Time Wonder-warrior...and he's not alone .. <_<

Sylvia >Mclean

I don't remember Sylvia ever winning us a game of football, let alone a final.

Also don't remember him ever finishing in the top 5 in our B&F.

If you stop touching yourself for a minute, you'll see that McLean > Sylvia.

Be warned folks. Dont confuse touches ( stats) with effectiveness, not that you can other than invariably being there or watching the game. Take note of when and how touches are garnered.

We are a champion club of reent times at accumulating players...that are all promise ..little result. This can be through injury , attitude or incorrect original appraisal.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
