Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Never seen a team take a group of players to watch the opposition play.

Very interesting.

Should have taken Rivers, he has to stop Fevola from kicking another bag next week.

Carlton are 4 wins away from giving us a priority pick... bring it!

I originally voted yes, but after watching Carlton thrash Collingfilth - I want to change my answer -

Don't be so quick. Collingwood regularly play above their skill level. They do awfully well, considering the talent they don't have. So when they are not at the top of their game, they get beaten - remember us beating them easily last year.

Having said that, today will do lots for Carlton's confidence.

Collingwood regularly play above their skill level.

Then couldn't one also say that they only sometimes play below their skill level? Aren't you more likely to play at or below your skill level than above it?

OK I'll try again.

As a team, they are much better than the sum of the individuals. But they must all be at the top of their game to win. they manage it more than most. rather like us in '05 in fact

i would rather we play with dignity and actually try to win before its all too late and weve forgotten how to win

what im trying to say is that i desperately hope we can win this one...i really do...for dignity's sake

Amen to that sentiment Nugget.....

Could we win? Yes I think we probably could, but the question is not if we could but if we actually can.

Our skills, attitude and confidence are currently non-existent and after a pretty good win today against the Filth, Carlton will have their tails up to get two in a row and probably regard next week as potentially the easiest win they will get all season, which considering who they are is an arrogant but not out there assumption.

^ Carlton has broken their losing culture and this is a big worry; thier arrogance and over-confidence is our only hope. We can win, but only if Carlton trip themselves up on their own egotism. If they manage to hold themselves together, I have grave doubts.

Wow, I think it's quite worrying that 65% of voters think we can not beat carlton.

For those that say we CANT beat Carlton are fools, you've already accepted failure and you disguist me!

I cant speak for anyone else...so I'll just do it for me.

In theory we can beat anyone.. the ground may open up and swallow the oppostion or the Demons might grow some skills and competitiveness overnight..either works for me .. dont really care.

I dont accept failure; not for anything. It's grossly unpalatable and not part of my personal creed. What I HAVE come to accept is reality. I work within realities and attempt to expand them to meet my dreams.

If I want to learn to swim the channel I must first acept that water is wet, it is formidable and will sap my very being's worth of strength lest I prepare for it. I can only prepare for it if I acknowledge what Im dealing with.

So I'll tell you what I accept about Melbourne; and by accept I would have you understand that these are truths I can not change, not for the present. I accept we have a very ordinary list at present . It consists of some aging champions of the club. It consists of some players who are/were never what they claimed to be. It consists of some players who seems devoid of the very basics in skillsets that would have any outsider to consider them as footballers at any level let alone elite. It consists of thieves in dsguise. You may recognise them from time to time steathally parading the sporting fortresses of this city.

I also accept we have resources that curently put us behind the 8 ball. I accept that the Mighty Demons will probably for many years have a smaller following than many a club for this is historically so and until such times as the club's fortunes and attractiveness to growing generations increases this will be our lot.

I also accept that the winds of change are indeed collecting abou tthe club. 'Tis only a breeze at the moment but all indications are we should prepare for some stormy weather, clearing before a fine change !!

These and others I accept. How can I not ..for only a fool doesnt recognise their environment before attempting change.

We have played 4 games..and probably only really 'contested about 6 quarters..and won only 1 !! I accept that. How can you not.

I probably wouldnt accept that this is the desire or intent of the MFc.

That we will probably in all reality lose next week to Carlton I reluctantly accept. But do I accept failure. No....Never.

So please dont acuse me of that.. <_<

Carlton has being our nemisis for the last few years.

In '06 we lost twice to miss out on a top 4 spot.

In '04 or '05 we lost to Carlton late in the season to miss out on a top 4 spot.

In '07, we beat Carlton twice to miss out on a late priority pick and a chance to have an early priority pick this year.

God i hate Carlton (or is my anger misdirected and i'm really [censored] off with my own club?).

Well I expect us to beat the blues and quite well

what will determine the result is how long we can apply midfield pressure

shutting down their midfield will automatically put pressure on their defence and we have enough marking and goalkiicking power to win

when you put pressure on a team with a poor lists they turn the ball over just like we have done for 4 weeks

we did frighten the cats in the 1st and 3rd quarters so please dont think it cannot be done against carlton

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
