Cameron Bruce

Recommended Posts

I am sick of people bagging Cameron Bruce on hear. I understand and appreciate that people are entitled to their opinion but he gives his all. As he gets more game time he will regain fitness and he showed today how dangerous he is. His kicking has deteriorated but you could see today that is improving again. He clearly beat Steve Johnson and kicked goals. He is our next captain and he has my full support.

Lets not get carried away. He is not a captain's bootlace, but he is at his best when given a defensive job, and I hope that Bailey continues down that path. God knows our backline needs all the help it can get.

His job on Johnson was excellent, and it was great that he managed to push forward and kick goals as well.

I havent been a fan Of Cams for some while...and deeserverdly so.. he's been very off the boil...and lacklustre..

But I will always give credit where its due and he certainly brought back his A game today. Was terrifc in silencing SJ.. Lets hope now he's found his feet again..he keeps going :)

I think he is a good player who's perhaps been overrated. He's got good versatility but his disposal is terrible, an inexcusable given he is a senior player of almost 10 years experience. Furthermore, there is no way he should be captain. He hasn't played good football for three years now really, his career is on the wane. Although I can't think of a candidate to take over once Neitz retires

Wow, the soft players all put in today. Fantastic, the first cobblestone on the road to respect, not of the opposition but the respect of the club!

i'm first to have a go if he had a bad game so only fair i praise him on a good game. he was very good today. thinking he's very good as a tagger because he seems to set himself for the target very well and we all know can run all day. further more he may be able to use the ball better if his mind is focused on the opposition as he is pressed more to do so. will be intrigued by his next 3 weeks

Cam Bruce can be bloody awesome at times, and he was great against the cats today. He will not captain the side, but I am sure he will retire in red and blue. He is worth a roster spot any day of the week, even if he cannot string games together all the time.

Cam Bruce is still a great player for the club....but he will not be our captain (MACCA!!!!!!!!!!! Why not J-MAC??)

I love Macca.... but I think he is too old now to be future captain

I must confess I have always be critical of Bruce. Maybe because a lot of people made him out to be an elite AFL footballer which he isn't that. I accept him for what he is a hard running a little above average AFL footballer. I think sometimes we all search for elite players with in our club and when you don't have any we try to make someone who is not, one.

Let's get this straight . . . Cameron Bruce is a smart footballer and is absolutely fantastic with his hands, always been silky, it's when he uses his feet in the last few years he has been poor. He's given too many good games to this club to say that he's just a little above average.

There's a few other midfield captains that are receiving players.

They don't have to be Michael Voss

Spot on. And I think that if you watch Cam Bruce for a full game, you'll notice that when its his turn to go, he goes and he goes hard. Last year he was in our top 3 for tacklers which indicates that he does put in. He had a sensational game today and I would throw my support behind him as our next captain.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
