My pet hate #1. If your thread is a question rather than giving us information, put a ? in your title, so suckers like me don't open the thread expecting you to have all the juicy goss. I've edited your thread title accordingly.

Sorry to be a little anal. I've got no news. Carry on.

i heard Bill gates is interested

i dont want this to go any further than we demon fans, but i have it on good authority that we are head hunting Chopper Read for our c e o .

he has a reputation for getting things done, and when he talks, people listen.

p.s.

i got this from a reliable source

On a more serious note, it was rumoured on SEN this morning that Adelaide CEO Steven Trigg is on the short list of 4-5 candidates.

Hopefully, I'm not wasting Nasher's time with this rumour. ;)

When would somebody like Trigg take the reins though? Surely Adelaide wouldn't be happy to just have him walk right on the eve of the season proper. Particularly considering the fantastic job he seems to have done for them, both in promoting the club in the public forum (I often hear him on MMM and such), and in terms of management. I'm all for treading (stamping) on toes but surely something like that would be difficult for Trigg to wrangle, at least in a reputable fashion (for him I mean).

It's no different to Greg Swann leaving Collingwood to join Carlton. It p#ssed off McGuire big time, to the extent that Eddie won't talk to Swann. But that's the business world. If Trigg sees us as a challenge that'll look good on his CV, I doubt that Adelaide will stop him leaving.

Great journalism Greg Denham. Five paragraphs on the subject matter, and ten paragraphs on Chris Judd's return.

Since Nasher brought up his pet hate, this is one of mine.

What on earth was wrong with Greg Denham's journalism in this case? He's got the information about McNamee from a source and had it confirmed, but it seems neither McNamee, the headhunters nor the club would talk on record. Thus, it makes it pretty hard to write the 15 paragraphs you seem to be demanding without making it up.

The news about McNamee is clearly the most newsworthy item that Denham had, so it was up the top of the story and the headline refers to it.

He's also got the information about Chris Judd, and some comment from Carlton. Rather than waste space in a tight sports section on a Wednesday, they've combined the two stories. Not uncommon in a paper like the Australian that tries to give equal exposure to all sports that capture the national sporting public's interest.

Again, can you please explain to all the good people at Demonland what was wrong with Denham's "journalism", as you put it?

Or, as I suspect, are you just whinging because there's not enough words about Melbourne for your liking, and casting needless and unfounded aspersions on someone's professionalism as a way of coping?

It may not be poor journalism but it sure as hell is poor editing. Giving the article that headline when it's predominantly about Juddas is pretty ordinary. As is the (much) shorter story coming first, when typically they tack them on at the end.

Could be a possible fit. A former successful sportsman and CEO of one of this country's biggest sports events. Currently CEO of another major sporting event. Would be very close to many large companies and know all about what is needed for a successful sponsorship. If he gets along with his staff and promotes a good working environment he could be a good fit for us. Certainly a candidate worth closely examining as he would have many qualities that the incumbent doesn't.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
