Breaking news!!

Dylan Howard has reportedly discovered, through his association with Dr. Heinz Deissler, that Brock McLean actually sustained a career-threatening injury (fracture scaphoid) in the dust-up at Munich.

This is the same injury that ended Gerard Healy's career.

Advice from those medicos that assessed Steve Johnson's ankles, apparently advised "just bathe it in the Rhine, and start some strength work on it".

just wat i got from ology!

jeez plz i hope this isn't true!!

Yeh its true. True tragedy. Here is a little story following that.

Brock Mclean, Vin Diesel and Arnold Schwarzenegger have all died and are in Heaven. Each of them hope to occupy the seat next to God. God asks Vin Diesel why he thinks he should have the seat and Vin replies, "I believe... I should have the seat because of the virtuosity in my toughness and pride." Arnie says, "I believe... that I should be the one sitting next to you because of all my achievements." God then turns to Brock Mclean, who replies with, "I believe... you are sitting in my seat."

It's not true. The person who posted this on 'ology was quite obviously taking the wee. A few on there took the bait too.

People never cease to amaze me with their extreme gullibility.

Well thats a relief. I was looking at the team stats for 2006 and Brock was in nearly every top 5; hard ball gets, contested possisons, tackles, un-contested possesions and many others. He acheived this while only averaging 84mins per game now this is amazing. If Brock can regain this form I think he may disprove some of the doubts displayed on this site.

Lets not turn this into a Brock debate again.

A fractured scaphoid is no big injury anyway. Generally if it's identified straight away they heal. Unlike mine that was not identified quickly enough and never healed correctly and I feel no pain or have any limited movement.

Dare I ask where the 'scaphoid' can be found on the body?

In the wrist. It has a vein that runs through it and when it fractures there is a potential for one end of the bone not to get any blood. It doesn't show up in x-rays until a week after so it's sometimes missed and a bone graft is needed to heal the fracture and supply blood to the other end. It has the potential to put a player out for a while with bone grafts but rarely would it be career ending.

Just a little story....

I broke my scaphoid in 3 places during this season.... It was Rnd 7 and I did it in the 2nd Qtr after I spoilt the ball from HB and then the CHF fell on top of me.... I lost all movement in my wrist within 1 minute.... I then played the rest of the match (in unbelievable pain) in the ruck and had no use of my right hand.... Tapping with the left for a right handed bloke is more difficult than it sounds....

After the match, one of the opposition players came up and went to shake my hand.... Not thinking, I offered mine and the pain I felt was nothing short of krazy! I went straight to hospital after the match and it showed up straight away on X-Rays.... Full cast for 6 weeks.... Then bone grafts from my hip when it didn't heal.... Full cast for another 6 weeks.... Physio twice a week since....

I have retired.... At the ripe old age of 29.... I have been told that I can play next season as long as I wear a protective wrist guard....

I am glad the Brock story is false....

Can be a nasty little injury! Tiny bone... but apparently one of the more difficult ones to seriously break!

I guess I was just lucky! :(

I broke mine spoiling the ball on a thurs training, played the sat, in pain but played one of my better games, copped a hit to the kidneys, was pissing blood so went to the hospital where they x rayed my wrist (was still bandaged from the game) was in a cast for 6 weeks, 3 weeks after that i re broke it but they said i had just hurt tendons, 3 months later i had a pin inserted in there, its healed ok, i have lost movement in my wrist and retired at the ripe age of 23 :(

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
