Maybe dad spiked his drink. I think he was [censored] his pants he might win and have to get up and do a speech it would be very daunting being the hot favourite and No Alcohol wouldn't help on such a big night when everyone around you is wasted and your sober as a judge.

I thought he looked really tense all night, and didn't seem to enjoy himself all that much. Even when Bartel won, he wasn't smiling like everyone else ... maybe a bit shirty that he didn't bring home the bacon?

The Abletts aere very private people wno don't normally like media attention. He lookes like he felt the pressure that comes with favouritism. & he looked naturally dissappointed.

Watch him go now in the GF.

Not at all, at times he was stuffing around with Bartell, but as soon as the camera's came on them they stopped and looked all serious.

There's some great photos of exactly that......

I think that he did feel the weight of expectation and that the media attention doesn't sit particularly well with him.

But as for looking sulky? No. Disappointed? Maybe, but genuinely happy for his team mate.

Watch him go now in the GF.

And maybe a Norm Smith would make up for that disppointment ;):P !!!

I agree. Made pretty much the same comment in another thread.

He is overrated, and Bartel his mate will go down as a worse Brownlow winner than Woewodin

There is no doubt he has had a great year, whether he is overated or not thats yet to be seen. If he backs up this year with a similar one next year then he deserves all the plaudits he gets.

On certain forums you can block a person so you dont have to read the tripe they write, is it possible to do this on demonland?

Yes it is.

Go into MY CONTROLS.

Under OPTIONS (left hand side column), select MANAGE IGNORED USERS.

This function is very underrated IMO. If you don't like someone and you put them on your ignore list, it saves a lot of nasty arguments and makes your time on this site more pleasant.

Go nuts! :)

Ridiculous comment. Bartel has been excellent for the three years prior to this one and has made the step up to being a star this year.

A very worthy winner.

Woey was a worthy winner as well

he had an awsome 2000 season

What happened after that is another story. Expect the same to happen with Bartel

Why dont you tell why you disagree with my comments instead of taking the soft option?

Some of your comments YM make me think that sometimes you don't have a clue about footy at all. Im not going to take the soft option but next time think before you speak. A comment such as:

He is overrated, and Bartel his mate will go down as a worse Brownlow winner than Woewodin

that really start to [censored] me off. I mean bartel is a great player and to say that he is overrated really stuns me. So next time if you have a diabolical comment like that keep it to yourself.

I am correct as always

You will see for yourself next season when the slow Bartel is tagged heavily and gets 15 useless touched per game

Its official. You are a moron.

Bartel is a tough ball magnet that our on-ballers can only hope to aspire to in hardness.

He kept the cats in the match, 12 possies in the first 1/4 I think, and guess who had the ball in his hands at the bottom of the pack, 50m's out from the Pies goal when the siren went.

No correspondnece will be entered into.

You people have no idea

You are like sheep

You dont have the balls to form your own opinions

Its easy to say what you people are saying. Going along the common theme. When in the end I am the only one who knows what he is talking about.

You should be learning from me, instead of criticising

Yet we have formed our opinion and the only problem here is that it is different from yours.

If Bartel has a very ordinary year next year then so be it, but he has been fantastic this year and your maligning of him is silly and disrespectful.

And if, and that is a huge and unlikely if, you are actually proven correct, it doesn't automatically make you the yoda of all footy as you seem to think you are.

Your ego is staggering in every way shape and form. But what would I know, I am female  !!!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
