  1. This is why i hate posting with you Rhino, you pick everything apart to make it sound like it means what i didnt want it to mean (which it probably didnt anyway ). I was just trying to make the point that just coz he hasnt lived up to wat he could have achieved, it shouldnt take away from what he has achieved. I never said anyone said yze was a crap player, what i was trying and failing to say was that people were insinuating that just because he hasnt achieved wat he could have means he will never be a champion player, like your comments about him going downhill since 2003, that shouldnt take away from what he has already achieved. "It shows with your English and your inability to follow a discussion and understand the points of view given ." That stuff i said wasnt necessarily true i was trying to make people understand wat i was trying to say, and as youve seen i have alot of trouble doing that. I know the points of view people have given, that yze gets spooked, lacks onfield leadership, fails to put his head over the ball when it his turn to go ect. Maybe my requirements for a champion player are substandard and more has to be achieved to recieve this accolade. If Yze had retired at the end of 2003 due to a career ending injury, would he have gone down as champion player or just a very good player.
  2. what i was trying to say is he should be judged by what he has achieved not what he should have achieved
  3. People keep harping on about him not delivering on his talent, or not living up to his potential.... So what that dosent make him a crap player. When i was at school i didnt always listen or pay attention, didnt deliver on what i could have achieved instead of 80% i got 70%, that dosent mean im stupid. Just because he didnt become the superstar he could of been, even if he worked like godders he still might not have been goog enuff, that dosent take away from what he has achieved, and from what he has achieved he desearves to be called a bloody champion.
  4. i am not exactly qualified to comment about this given my lack of knowledge on most of the other older players being way before my time an all, so bear with me. Neitz has mooved from CHB to CHF to FF and could thus be seen as a utility. Does being good in each of these positions equal a great utility, i dont know. But i think it does warrant a position on the bench. Some people have also alluded that Nieta should take the mantle of captain frm RDB, but with man such as flower unable to take the mantle what chance does nietz have. As someone has already suggested he should take vineys spot i think that is the most suitable swap.
  5. Would love to pick him, could definately turn out to be something special but pick 4 will be best talent available, 14 a kpp and that leaves pick 21 as the only draft pick possible and i dont think he will slip that much. Also if we pick up sampi in the PSD then we will already have a crumbing FP.
  6. I have pm u diablo coz i don't wanna dish dirt over the net and am not 100% sure of the truth of it all, but i just dont really like him. He will most probably be a good player though. Palmer is a ball carrier that kicks goals has reasonable pace, we need a goal kicking ball carrying midfielder.
  7. Cheers Rhino, i am both suprised and impressed that the club is exploring an idea like this. Living in WA i don't know wat type of advertising u guys get over there, i was just wondering wat effort the club puts into advertising the club, and trying to attract more supporters. Hopefully the will have an ad campaign about our 150th year, oldest football club a new era and try to get all our supporters to join up for this season.
  8. Heres a suggestion for u rhino, why dont the demons make a deal with the storm or victory or both. Were u can get a combined membership, for an extra cost of course, this way we build the MFC brand and attract victory and storm supporters to become demon supporters. Not sure if anything like this is being done or how successful it would be, its just an idea.
  9. I would much rather cotchin and if it came down to it palmer or masten i would much rather palmer because we have enough feeders and need some outside pace, i also think masten is an absolute [censored], it may not show in that video but some of the things he has done over here in the west dosent exactly show great character.
  10. No worries Deanox I would prefer a star full back for 10 years, maybe this is because the dees haven't had a star full back for a long while, and each of the previous priemiers in recent years of had AA or close to fullbacks, with maybe sydney being the only exception.
  11. Dappa i wasn't directing the bit about needing a genuine star at you, deanox said something along the lines of if everyone plays their part you shouldn't need one and the comment was for him. Aside from that, that is one well constructed post, and i can't say i disagree with any of it. Buckley's potential was probably wishful thinking on my part, lets hope my wish comes true though B) . Also about the perfect midfield thing, i was putting a couple of roles down, then you'll notice i said "What else am i missing or what else do u guys think needs to changed", in essence i was inviting everyone else to tell me what they thought the perfect midfield is. My hope concerning our midfield is that dean bailey can keep the same car but clean away the dirt and rubbish, add some polish, and a turbo (pace, line breaking pace) so to speak. Apologies if i sounded pompous in my first reply.
  12. Interesting you should say that nugget, my dad is a saints supporter, but he occassionally watches the demons games with me and he seems to think dunns the one to watch. One things for sure 2008 is going to be an interesting year, particularly from a developement perspective.
  13. Dappa i think you are being a little over critical on what i said, for starters i never claimed it was the perfect midfield and invited people to add missing roles. Of course it would have to be vaired from week to week i think you are looking into it far to much. Granted some of the players i mentioned don't fitted directly into the mould allocated to them but when i was writing it i was thinking of players that could potentially fill this gap. As to Buckley i am not sure atm if he will make it, but i have seen glimpses in the few games that he has played that suggest he could fill this role, he certainly has the attributes hieght, speed and good skills. Bate is the next one, i have two visions of him one he is streaming out packs, or down the wing and then drilling a goal from 55, the other he is a lead up CHF, wheeling around and hitting juice on the lead or kicking a goal with a booming left foot kick. Some people have mentioned you don't need a genuine star or that sylvia might not be the one perhaps your right...... but damn how good would it be to finally have one. A good idea would have been to allocate the 40 list spots, plus maybe the 4 rookie spots to what category they must fill Dappa if I had the time to do this i still wouldnt do it if you want to show me the perfect list go ahead an do it. I was just trying to develope the nucleus of the almost perfect midfield.
  14. What type of players are required for the perfect Midfield 1) 2 in and under players 2) 2 outside midfielders with pace and good skills 3) Well built player for pack breaking 4) A tagger 5) A genuine gun inside and outside midfielder What else am i missing or what else do u guys think needs to changed, and how does the demons under 24's measure up. 1) Mclean, Jones 2) Bate, Buckley, maybe petterd 3) Moloney (assuming he's fit) 4) Batram 5) Potentially Sylvia if he can get his body right Thoughts.......
  15. my ultimate draft would be 4-cotchin 14-Rance 21-Rioli Not sure who to get for our later picks, but would be estatic if this happened.... extremely unlikely though
  16. Of the available i would go for Watts and of the potentially available i would be happy with any of them except Meyer and Johnson but not really sold on Bradley or sampi either.
  17. I think i sum it up for a lot of people when i say: my heart wanted him to stay my head knew he had to go
  18. In all honesty and i know i will be crucified for saying this, they will be looking to draft a CHB as we already have a CHF in miller. Now dont get me wrong i dont think miller is anything special, but bailey clearly sees something in him, he's the coach, thus my deduction skills then suggest that we will be after a CHB not a CHF. If everything goes perfectly we will end up with- 4 cotchin 14 Rance
  19. Ever since that final in 2002 i dreamt of the day trav would carry us to premiership glory and himself to a charlie.......... We all know he had the talent, he was one of the few players who had ability to carry or inspire his team to victory. The problem was that more often then not he was on the sidelines or not living up to his ability. Some will say he couldn't shake a tag, the fact was he was to lazy to do so........... In a way he empitomises the Danaher era, we all knew the talent was there and on the few occassions or streaks it was shown it amazed us, but it was it always so iconsistant.......... My favorite memories of trapper will be of him bursting from the centre after a bounce with a sublime pickup and finishing it of by drilling a goal from 50....... It is a sad day when a favorite leaves the club you love, and sadder still that, that player does not fulfill his potential........... I now look on with interest to see how the career of pick 15s career will unfold, he could well be the missing link in the premiership puzzel...... The Demons time is not now and sadly trappers is..... Good luck and goodbye trav i for one will miss you......
  20. We should try and get brissie to deal with the saints they have pick 9
  21. St kilda want a ruckmen and have pick 9 why not convice brisbane to deal with them, the sainters might even throw someone like Mqualter (however u spell it) into the deal aswell.
  22. What trade would be better do you reckon, the eagles or the sydney one.
  23. Deanox who are we to say whether a penis with arms is a sex scandal or not. But in all seriousness his post was not required, but it wasnt harmful either, he was just stirring to see if he could get a response unfortunately for him it wasnt the type of response he wanted or expected.
  24. ease up deanox he's just mucking around
  25. I think this guy could develope into something pretty special, and i kepp thinking back to one game he played in 06 at CHF were he dominated before getting injured. Were do you guys see his future: Ruckmen: tapwork is average CHB: too slow CHF: This is the one i like, you have bate as a roaming flanker, taking marks up the field bit like O'keefe, then paul playing closer to home as the next link in the chain, breaking packs and creating spillages for the likes of Davey and sylvia.
