Hi,

Just seeing if anyone has any thoughts about the below articles.

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/sec...lbourne,00.html

I personally got as usual, very upset when I read all about Connolly.

So you get upset because a career coach, who has kept his head down since resigning, who up till now refused to comment to media about applying for jobs finally admitted he would be applying for a vacant position at club he once played for? I do agree with most that he appears to not be the one we want. But I also have to trust the 'process' will choose the best available who presents. Not much point in getting wound up.

I think Demons 32 was just stating his opinion. I don't think he is crying about it.

From what I understand, Connolly has spent a good few weeks working on his presentation, which involves a historical look at Melbourne under Neale Daniher.

However, he'll have to really blow them away to get the job IMHO.

I just don't want him to be our coach. Simple as that.

You are definitely not alone on that  !!!

And I do agree with that......

He does seem to have a steep climb ahead of him.

I dont want him as coach either. But if he Gets the job I will judge him on his performance at melbourne and not on his past. My main reason for not wanting him as coach is his lack of success at freo. We are where freo was 6 years ago.

PS I had to eat my words on Grant Thomas when he was appointed coach at St Kilda. I thought he was a total loss and thought him to be less than Tim Watson as a coach!!!!

I actually enjoyed the articles on Connolly today. I think his genuine passion and love for the club and desire for the coaching job is great to see, and certainly a lot stronger than one prospective coach out there. Not that this is reason alone for him to get the job, I just see it as a positive that the club has the process in place to take a look at all the best candidates, which includes Connolly.

MFC are going through the process. That process means that they will interview everybody that they think might be a possibility. Hopefully wisdom and foresight will prevail. This is the way it should be. Every time MFC talks to someone, be it Sheedy, Sumich, Bond, McKenna etc. they become the new favorite for the job with the bookies and the media. I really don't think the bookies or media know anything We will not know until they make a final decision.

if he can sell himself like he did in that interview he might just get it

I think the article was well written and I like the passion behind his reason to apply for the coaching position.

But I just worry that if he couldn't get a team that has more money, better resources, bigger membership (though arguably due to him) and perhaps a better playing list firing, how is he going to manage getting the dees up and running?

All very good reasons why he probably won't get the job. I love his passion for the club but I don't believe he is the right man for the job. While his failings have been well documented he DID get Fremantle into a Prelim and he did turn the club around. He does have some upside but not enough to land him the job IMO.

Yeah he turned Freo around but he couldn't keep it going, and if he cannot do that with a club that, as redman said, has more money, better resources etc. then he will fail at MFC. Then the process of looking for a new coach will begin again.

Connolly was, is and always will be a Melbourne man. He is not, however, the right man to lead the Demons into the future. In only 2 of his 5 completed seasons did he do better than 50-50, and clearly, the last 4 weeks has shown his shortcomings as a coach. With essentially the same players who could only win 6 from 15, Mark Harvey has got the Dockers back in contention, and against reasonable opposition as well. 3 from 4 with the only loss being against Geelong is just as damning for Connolly as his own performance as coach. The MFC will not appoint Connolly - not when Sheedy is also available!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
