Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Its a truly vexed question this one.. Davey ?

When he burst onto the scene at a zillion miles an hour I was mesmerised by this guy. He seemed unreal. To me he has essentially stood still ( if thats not an oxymoron in terms for this guy !1 lol ) But he really hasnt gone forward much. He's still very good .. but he ought to be brilliant. He's not yet, maybe never.

He still has a few years left on current contract as I understand. I am very interested to see how he goes next year with a new coach/mentor etc. If he doesnt spark next year then i'm all for trading him.. Id rather 90% of very good than 50% of brilliance, whomever that is.

Davey is Melbourne's only small forward / crumbing forward.

An underrated position IMO.

I agree Clint (although Yze can be used there) and he has proved to be a pretty good one at that.......

But it would be nice if he was played there a little more often to actually use the skills he has, instead of being pushed into the midfield.

Where he is unfortunately not nearly as influential as we would like to think or hope he is.

Davey does have loads of pace but just does not get his hands on the ball whether in the midfield or a crumbing forward.

Because he is our only small crumbing forward is not a reason not to consider a trade.

His performance has been very poor this year and the end of last year

Without doubt Aarons greatest asset is speed. Other aspects of his game come and go. Speed needs space. Id be very wary of playing him in a pocket as we do Ooze at times. I prefer to see him on a flank..front or back depending on the game etc. Personally I like him on the back flank.. his speed going forward is unmatchable ( save his brother..lol ). He has the advantage that if he keeps moving with the play then he can finish off. but Id like to keep my option open with him. Chucking him up front when the front is quiet is a waste. Possibly rest him there, keeping him on the ground at times ( as motor further develops ) might open up other opportunites re rest of team.

My concerns with Davey are his apparent inability to play well in finals pressure footy and his undisciplined actions.

If we can get something great for him then I say go for it (it would have to be pretty good though)

give me 10 reasons why we should trade bell??!! other then that ur an idiot!!

1. He has little awareness of his oponants, own players

2. He is rair to use his speed....and i still believe he is one of our slowest players...regardless of the stats

3. His disposal is ordinary

4. His decision making is in adiquate

I think the MFC should seriously look at trading Aaron Davey this year. He is a player we could get something decent for, without affecting our structure too much. Here are my reasons:

1. Has had more bad games then good ones this year, and when he is bad he stinks.

2. Is one of the mentally weakest player on our list, and that is saying something!! (i.e. him hitting Selwood).

3. Is a flat-track bully, only plays well when the team is up and going.

4. Is yet to and may never stand up in a big game, see point 2.

I am sure some teams would give a lot for him....Hawthorn, West Coast, Adelaide and St Kilda especially IMO.

Oh yes lets get rid of our best players and watch him star for an opposition club-GOOD IDEA. I am sick of seeing ex Melbourne Players accept premiership medallions with other clubs. it started with Stan alves and Crackers Keenan. Do not get rid of him

it shows you cant count to 10! it also shows u have not watched bell play!! so you see his stats and then you sum him up by saying he is slow.. but theres no stats that say about being quick. if u watch more football this year and less netball you will see why bell has one of the best foot skills at the club. i dont see his pin point passes as being ordinary? and his awarness and decision making have improved big time. you have given me 4 useless points. now give me 6 more. its all i ask brother

The reason our ex-players accept premiership medals at other clubs is because other clubs are winning premierships. We are not.

i read your four points, and the standard of football knowledge you apparently possess is obviously as limited as your ability to spell.

you obviously haven't passed primary school English lessons, and you obviously haven't watched Daniel Bell play very often.

Because he is our only small crumbing forward is not a reason not to consider a trade.

Why the hell not?

If we trade him for a relatively reliable young first option ruck to help White out and take over the job in coming years, we solve a HUGE problem in our list, and gain another one.

We don't have good crumbing forwards. We have one or two. We need 2 starters and 2 in development. This is a place we've been lacking in for a while.

Davey doesn't crumb in the forward line so much because he's not being played there as much. Also since the All-Stars game he's been playing like a leading forward.

Fair enough, the guy's taken a body blow or two this year, but with the right attitude and the right coach there is NO reason why he can't turn it around and be dangerous again.

Oh, and your suggestions of trading Robbo and TJ have my stamp of approval. I love them both, Robbo moreso, but they are going to have questionable effect on our results... they both may suffer greatly under a new coach... and they're of the prime trading age.

I never really "hope" that a player gets traded, it's not a good thing 90% of the time, but these two are the closest thing to workable, sensible trades we have.

The paradox is that in a crap year you want to trade everyone, but usually the reason you've had a crap year is because your best players aren't doing enough... as a consequence their trade value is diminished...

The Davey trade is an interesting case, but there's no question, he should not be traded.

Oh and to anyone who suggests he's not one of our best, he's been up there in our goalkickers.... and add to that he doesn't have a LOT of competition.

To suggest hes amongst our best is no great achievement this year...is it ?? lol Amongst our best goal kickers, DITTO !!

No one at this point of a career is ever beyond a 'good' trade. The team is more than him etc.

Like anyone in the red and blue they ought to prove their worth..well oughtn't they ?

Can someone delete this entire thread.........absolute crud!

absolutely!

best post so far.

maybe we trade bell, bate, whelan, carroll, rivers, white, neitz, davey, bruce, brown, ward, frawley, warnock,pj,jamar, johnstone, jones, bartram, pickett, petterd, mcdonald, sylvia, robbo, miller for this year's all australian team.

you trade to improve your list, i.e. you trade a player that you have an excess of (tall forwards for instance) in exchange for something you are short of (midfielders perhaps), that is when you trade quality players, if you have the younger guys with talent to fill the void.

you DO NOT trade the players that your team needs to move forward, fast, skillful players that fit beautifuly into our best team

I can count to 10 but there are not 10 things that are wrong about him. Secondly i dont know how english affects me when u clearly can make out what im saying. Thirdly, i have watched all the games...not live as i work on weekends but i tape em all. Lastly, Bell is ordinary and must be traded

Occo, all your critisisms of Bell were valid 12 months ago, but it seems you have not watched this season at all.

in rpevious years he was consistently being beaten having goals kicked on him, he rarely made the correct decision, and often got run down.

this season however, he has been outstanding defensively (our best defender this season imo), his ability to get a punch in is outstanding, his pace has improved (thought he is still strong), he rarely gets run down anymore, AND his decision making has improved out of sight.

your critisism of bell is out-of -date and unwarranted. Bell is one of our most exciting future prospects and has firmed as a definite starting 22. he was going guns blazing before he got injured a few weeks ago.

he is 22 and it has taken this long for him to develop fully. to trade him for a pick around 30 would just be plain stupidity. 90% likely we will get a player as good or worse than him who will take 3 years to develop into a starting 18 just as bell has.

some people just dont think before they type

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
