TRAINING: Wednesday 22nd April 2026

The girls are out on the park right now. Optional session and pretty much the whole side is here. That’s dedication right there. I had the pleasure of meeting Kat, our new GM. She’s here with Paul Guerra.

The boys are coming out now.

At the risk of resurrecting JuddGate, Spaz said he’s staying put.

Kozzie is here. He wasn’t here yesterday because he “had the day off.” 😅

Glorious autumn day here at Gosch’s. I cycled down and got here early enough to see the girls train first. Looks like Paxy is going around again. Would she be the first W player to hit 100 games if she plays through? Boys on the track now.

Lingers training with the defenders. Bowsa training unhindered in the same group. Also Ricky Mentha.

Any updates on Rivers? would love him bk in the side.

Riv is training with the main group, as is CJ

There’s going to be a serious crunch when it comes to half backs.

CJ, Rivers, Lindsay, Bowey, AMW, Taylor, Tholstrup and Howes all fighting for similar roles.

CJ covers the ground so quickly. Like a human cheetah.

Riv - unbelievable. I was convinced the club was hiding something from us. My bad.

Tell Paul do not send us to Darwin to play

I went to watch Richtank first to see how Lynch looked. I was quite shocked at the leisurely pace of training it appeared no more than a glorrified circle work drill of next to zero intensity. Lynch trained but didn't get out of second gear. Over at Gosch's the stark contrast was evident. There was zip, spring and an intensity somewhat business like in activities. Petty was in civies and did not train. Tom Campbell trained and completed running sessions. T.Mac also trained and Rivers looked unimpeded by his recent knee injury. C.j looks right as well. Lastly Ghostly Delight the little social butterfly was in her element with other Demonland Legends discussing all things football

Lovely day to be ooot and abooot

I spoke to Harry Petty, a week of tests to ascertain exactly what occurred, appreciates all the support.

Good to see you're kicking and well Saty my old sparring mate!

Absent: Salem, Viney, Lindsay, Melksham, McAdam, Petty and Johnson.

Rehabbing: Tom Campbell running laps only. Riv did join some of the early drills but then just did laps only so don't expect him to be playing at either level this weekend.

Kosi was also excused from match sim and did quite a bit of special work with physios so probably still a bit sore from Sunday - would still expect him to play of course.

A bit of celebration - we suspect may have been around Henderson - so perhaps he gets a first run this year (might improve our ground balls).

For those coming back from injury, good to see Bowey (to play a half for Casey on Saturday), CJ and Cross all train fully.

With Petty out, and assuming we don't go double-ruck again on Friday, maybe a smaller team Friday - perhaps Henderson and CJ in for Petty and Heath?

I'm not huge on this change, but he had the best write-up of the VFL players from the weekend, so maybe he's coming in for Laurie.

Don't really care what write up he got, AMW and Ricky Mentha are the future, and I'd be getting games into them!

I wouldn't be dropping Moose or Laurie!

PSA

All rational DL posters GW included, understand that Sparrow might still choose to leave at year's end.

SPAZZGATE has a certain ring to it

Poor Luker: he’s feeling quite down. I’ve noticed he’s getting progressively less self-assured and his confidence has dropped. He said he’s sore in a few places, it’s not just his knee. The first thing he said to me was “You probably won’t see me for a couple of weeks.” I don’t know what that means but I’m thinking he suspects he’ll not be lining up for Casey this week 🤷‍♀️

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
