GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon

So, we miss two getteble goals and JVR drops a mark in scoring range, then they get 2 we’ll set up goals

This is such a horrible game to watch. Keep playing like this and we deserve to lose.

For the Lov of god Demons pick up ur game.

Remember when the Swan lost 26 games in a row years back and finally won against us.

Petty and TMac have to go, JVR not far behind. But we've had no winners today, maybe Steele but he's had a couple of horror moments too.

Effectively playing two down with XL and Petty in the side.

XL has been hugely disappointing, he’s gone backwards since debuting at a rate of knots.

Also, our entries into the fifty today are reminiscent of what we saw under the 2022 - 2025 game-plan. Beyond frustrating.

Not much to like today at all, even if we do salvage a mediocre at best win.

Get Melksham off, he’s a huge liability. Freshen him up for one last quarter burst

JVR is honestly clueless, unless he’s got anything uncontested he will lose the battle. The only thing that he has is a dead eye kick.

PHEW, needed that.

Can we use that to give us a little gee up and play out the next 5 minutes to get into this for the last quarter?

Some of the guys have been unsighted, so we should have fresh legs in Q4.

Umps giving us nothing this half. Also, stop their chip chip game.

He's not alone though, Tholstrup, Culley, Sparrow, Latrelle, Windsor etc have hardly been sighted. Way too many passengers.

Don't mind losing but I can't accept our attitude today.

It's embarrassing.

Lmao, a team on a 16 run losing streak, second last, winless with 60% has generated 18 scoring shots from 39 inside 50’s and dominating ground ball.

Absolutely disgusting performance.

Most of them are trying.

Melk finally gets the ball and plays in when there’s no one forward.

These maggots give them everything,

Still absolutely no excuse for this insipid showing.

That calls needs to be investigated. That is outright cheating.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
