TRAINING: Tuesday 7th April 2026

Featured Replies

I’ve just been told training times have changed. Instead of the scheduled 12:30pm start, they’re starting at 3:30pm, if training here at all (nothing’s set in stone for today).

I’m here now and while I’m keen I’m not certifiably insane. Even @Roost it far wouldn’t expect me to wait here for over three hours, right Big Rooster?!

Yes, apparently Jack Steele was running laps earlier at Gosch's as he has another engagement this afternoon. If it wasn't for Steeley we wouldn't have known. Another punter said he called the club this morning and confirmed that training was on - we need to do a bit better.

Lucky I didn’t plan my day around it and take the kids during school holidays. Poor form

Yeah it wasn’t fun telling parents with their kids that they’d turned up for nothing.

But things can change and sometimes it can’t be helped. It’s the lack of communication that makes me angry. It would take a couple of minutes to update the site.

Hi Ghosty,

Can you find out about Fritta’s foot injury please?

I might have a recording of the disappointment among the fans, if Tom wants it.

I can’t say anything, Dingo, other than it’s a week-to-week proposition.

Thanks but l don’t like the sound of that.

Over and out

part of the challenge of the disconnect between football, football admin, and admin being in separate locations i suspect

the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing unless there is very specific and ascribed internal comms

Every week we sit down and watch players being savagely tripped and kicked deliberately with no retribution of, or, for that matter, recognition of interference.

Are we looking at a similar story to the damage now surfacing of players suffering permanent damage/injury due to the sneaky, non existent push into uncontrolled collision rule.

Both are often ending in concussion.

This is an outrage, sending thousands of kiddies bawling, scattering from Casey to Melbourne, no excuses accepted this time.

Not even if the admin. were on a important training course, on how to use the photocopier.

Web sites of course can be updated remotely, where they sit is irrelevant.

That would be rough as guts ☹️

The boys did indeed wander over at 3.30 pm today.

The only absentees were Steele (who had done his running earlier in the day) and MacAdam.

Rehabbers: first over Cross, Bowey and CJ working together - Paddy lots of running (just the thumb injury). Same for CJ, less so for Bowser.

Viney went off with a trainer and did some work on the Anderson St hill - bumped into him on the way home.

Fritsch in runners only - did some gentle kicking with a trainer but left early - would not expect him to play this week.

Others that joined the gentle work White, Rivers and Campbell all seemed unimpaired.

I'd have laughed at this twice if I was allowed.

So, did you wish Howesy happy birthday and give Sharpie a hug from me????

That may apply with more complex systems and operations but a simple task like updating the training info can be done regardless of how many locations from which the club operates.

The official injury report suggests Kalani is now avaialble and that Fritsch is a "Test". Sounds better than it looked today. Disco also mentioned in the report but not on the injury list - noted he ran laps today rather than joining the handball game - but assume he will be OK to go.....

GooD to see that injury list slowly reducing.....

I added a laugh for you Chompers.

I LOL'd in real life so didn't feel the need to add one before reading your plight

Thanks to Ghosty & HW.

Ghosty this may be the first time you've been ghosted!

That is really a weak excuse - one can instantly message London, maybe even today the far side of the moon so split admin and operations just shouldn’t matter, at least in this regard.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
