CASEY: Rd 01 vs Footscray VFL

Mathews looks a likely prospect down the track and will f nothing else he’ll help lift the membership numbers of teenage girls

Melksham just took that set shot for goal right in front of me with his left foot. Questionable that he should even be out on the field if he can't kick with his right.

casey very lucky that footscray have been inaccurate

i've only seen the last quarter but this has been an absolute cakewalk

very little pressure on their midfield going i50 and lots of casey turnovers from poorly executed kicking skills

Melksham slots one in from the goal square and that’s the last score of the game.

Sounds like a mixed day for X.Taylor in his first proper VFL match.

Did he not pick the pace of the game or was his disposal a bit off?

Taylor has got some work to do

Rhett doesn't appear to have alot to work with going on this performance but one week does not a summer make and first game rust etc.

Should have a better idea see where we are at about Rnd 7 / 8.

Sestan would've been handy for mine (at Casey) just for a bit of depth, experience, intercept play and connection by foot on the exits.

Our D looked very shakey today but again, it's a first up game under a new coach.

Not disastrous, and add a few other f Jefferson, Kentfield, Johnson, McDonald, and suddenly you have more competitive talks, which is where we were lacking today

very true, but it won't help the complete lack of competitiveness through the midfield

based on the quarter i saw we couldn't win a clearance and put no pressure on them moving it i50

Can someone elaborate on where Taylor needs to improve, what shortcomings he has?

For those who couldn't see the game

Can't see AMW playing VFL for too much longer, great to see him back

from the quarter i saw, nearly all his disposals came from returning the back from kick-ins

good stats, sure, but padded

No, he was involved, tough, fast and confident

Needs to add strength and his disposal is poor. his kicks are very loopy and will be picked off every time in the afl

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
