2026 Season Launch: Monday 2nd March 2026

Featured Replies

The 2026 MFC Season launch is taking place this evening.

Will Demonland be providing updates on the comms/messaging from the club?

This is happening tonight at 6PM.

Cam from the Deebrief podcast will be giving updates.

What’s usually spoken of at the launch?

Last year it was Brad Green's infamous naming of the round 1 midfield.

This year it will be an introduction to Kingy and what pre season has been like. Fingers crossed for a facilities update.

I’ll be there, so you can be sure you’ll get all the goss 😅

We'll be there and hopefully, we will be able to provide updates from the venue along with the other supporters above who have indicated they're coming along 😃

I’m hearing this year he is going to name the R1 half back line

The Season Launch is imo the best event on the footy calendar. It’s a night full of hope for the new season; a clean slate, a fresh start etc. The mood is usually great* and it’s a lighthearted, fun evening.

Understandably Luker won’t be there tonight. Maybe in Luker’s place the club will punish some young player by putting him next to me. Poor bastard 😂

*with the exception of 2024 when the Season Launch took place merely hours after Gussy’s forced retirement announcement. A very sad evening indeed.

Thanks, GS. Was fixing to have a great night and still hope to but it’s off to a bad start. I managed to talk my 20yo son into (reluctantly) straightening my hair for me which entailed promises of things that will take me a lifetime to cough up. Stepped outside into the drizzling rain and now I look like John Platten 😭

Massive good news story brewing!

That was at the B&F, not the launch....

Apologies. I was banging my head against a wall trying to remember which event it was.

...and, in 2026, another Season Launch taking place merely hours after another forced? retirement announcement.

Atmospheres: Compare and contrast.

I only want one bit of goss and it starts with new facilities and ends with Caulfield.

Somebody must ask!

Not name-dropping (except totally name-dropping) I just chatted with Nick McCallum. He said he’s a long-suffering supporter. I said but 2021 was only five years ago. He said 2021 was just a pause in the suffering. 🤣

I often see him. Sits in the mcc with the rest of us and sometimes his kids etc.

I’m seated between Ricky Mentha and Shane. Ricky was just asked for I.D! The players are not allowed to drink but because there is a wine glass in front of him (as there is with everyone) he needs to show I.D. Ridiculous.

Kalani has fully recovered from glandular fever. He’s feeling great. His girlfriend came down to Melbourne on the players’ 4-day break and despite Kalani becoming ill on day one, she loves Melbourne and is keen to live here.

He said, “My dad’s here, come and see him!” Everyone was being seated so I said, “All good, I’ll hunt him down at some point.” Kalani said, “He’s over there, just look for the grey hair.” I thought well, Kalani, you need to narrow that down some 😅
