NON-MFC: 2026 Practice Matches Week 02

Featured Replies

I just canโ€™t see Clarry ever getting back to his level around 2021/22. He will have some great games Iโ€™m sure, but I think he will be more of a B level player, maybe B+ moving forward.

The afl app says that Clarrie injured. I wasn't watching.. does anybody know what happened?

The fact that Clayton, a champion of Our Club, is playing for a POS on the Bottom of my shoe Club in GWS, brings a tear to my eye. The trade needed to be done but it still saddens me.

Kicked in the finger. He is fine

Who cares? Get over it

I honestly think the pure inside mid is like a dodo bird.. unless you have elite running capacity or speed, just being an inside plodder is not enough these days.

Agree he will play some good games, but hopefully not against us.

There is enough evidence there to scrap it all already. The AFL just have to grow a pair and admit it when they stuff up. Everyone can already see this rule is farcical.

Not too much wrong with the rule โ€“ just the turnips in charge that have no idea what they are doing. They are not 50 years old, so they have never seen a correct interpretation with this rule. They might need some copies of world of sport from 1973 to review.

Probably start with one umpire throwing the ball up and a different umpire looking at the contest. Itโ€™s asking a bit much for them to multitask when it doesnโ€™t seem like theyโ€™re able to throw the ball up in a straight line. No wonder they had trouble bouncing the thing.

Got here mid way through the first quarter, and all Iโ€™ve done is watch Carrie and Hogan. I swear Hogan has run faster and further than Clarrie. Unfortunately to date Iโ€™ve seen nothing from Clarrie that says we made a mistake letting him go. He just doesnโ€™t get out of a jog - just follows the ball from 30m behind. At this stage of the game (half time) heโ€™s a shadow of his former self. Admittedly itโ€™s pouring with rain but that hasnโ€™t stopped Jessie. I wish he was still ours.

The mistake was not trading him to Geelong a year earlier for a first rounder and nearly a million off our cap ! Now we pay 700K for him to plod around Sydney for another six years or whatever it is, disaster!

I think thereโ€™s still a place for them, but itโ€™s more as a get and handball type player and you only need 1 or max 2.

I think looking at 2026/27 the loss of Clarry wonโ€™t be felt at all as Steele is the perfect replacement and potentially could be better. I think the loss of Trac will hurt in the short term, but for what we got for him we will be better placed long term. Weโ€™ve already seen Latrelle and Taylor look like good young players.

The most important players now are goal kicking mids (Kozzy and Langford up fit this mould). Trac is definitely one of those type of players, but his problem is heโ€™s a poor kick especially from set shots.

Still doesnโ€™t seem to be a great idea playing early games up in Sydney in Brisbane.

How many years are they locked into this for?

Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I hope all their players pop a calf

I'd settle for just one

Captain Anderson opens with statement

Gold Coast skipper Noah Anderson produces a trademark long-range finish reminiscent of last yearโ€™s finals clash with Brisbane

I know itโ€™s GC, but canโ€™t believe Syd gave their approval and I donโ€™t think we would find it amusing if ESS, CAR or someone just copied our guernsey.

Trac has done absolutely nothing again. The media will come for him if he keeps this up.

I don't recall.him looking this slow with us, perhaps coz other teams have so many quicker players out there....well we do now as well but Goodwin's teams were pretty slow the last couple of seasons

There was never a concrete offer from Geelong of any sort, much less one that covered his full wage.

(If you think there was, go right ahead and provide details ...)

You really live in fairyland.

Lions going to be hard to stop again ... talent laden

Of course, we beat them last year and play them in round 6 at the G

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
