2026 MRO & Tribunal

Didn’t pin either arm

Certainly a sling but 2 games is harsh

Example 7

MRO Ex Pie Christian fines Ned Long for a forearm to the face of Oliver, a forearm OFF THE BALL.

All 4 ex players on the Couch, including ex Pie Nathan Buckley, agree it is always at least a week suspension.

Once again we see the favoured treatment of Collingwood which has the least penalties of any team in the AFL.

I’d say it was a joke, but it actually isn’t funny anymore

It’s blatant conflict of interest and bias.

The AFL is a corrupt organisation and this bias is an example of the ineptitude widespread through the AFL

Absolutely that was time off (. probably two weeks) instead of a pittance of a fine that I'm sure the club probably helps with , one way or another.

It's so blatantly wrong and and most indiscreet.

Hayward gets a week and the Tigers young ruckman will get a week - both for gut punches.

Ned Long hits Oliver in the face off the ball and gets a fine - because… Collingwood?

It’s so pathetic.

Rowell has broken through the $50k ceiling and thrown the gauntlet down for Toby languishing on $48.5k. According to Roy and HG.

Not sure Roy and HG know much about Aussie Rules.

It is Butters not Rowell.

If I was port I'd be filthy about one of the tribunal members drifting in & out of the zoom hearing then suddenly appearing in the car driving

And the other one who couldn't submit the reasoning behind the decision for almost a day, apparently due to parent teacher interviews.

That and the fact that the Tribunal apparently looked at Butters’ record, before deciding whether he was guilty of the offence, are the two legal grounds why the Appeal Hearing will uphold the Appeal.

The AFL will think that is the end of it, except Butters was found guilty of the alleged abuse and was not believed and the Appeal in a way will only determine that the hearing was flawed. Yes legally he will be clear, but he will remember he wasn’t believed on his evidence, even if technical aspects of the hearing result in quashing the penalty.

PS: A third legal point just happened. Before the Appeal can be heard a Tribunal member has spoken to the media.

I am now just waiting for the Tribunal to declare that the members shared a couple of bottles of wine and a slab during the hearing.

How incompetent are they? You get to a certain age and you wonder if Utopia and the Office are fictional shows or reality

I think these shows were more about people being a bit dumb.

The AFL appears to be able to do dumb and corrupt

Absolutely shameful that this multimillion dollar industry is run by a pack of incompetent buffoons.

No “independent” MRO or Tribunal chairman, and both with strong ties and loyalties to the same “big” club. So open to suggestions of corruption.

Another football action I'm sure

That was a fantastic football action, cheap, grubby and on brand.

I think we've reached a point where we need an annual award to recognise excellence in cheap shots for those clubs that only get fined.

It could be called "the fineys" or "the Christians" or the "nothing to see here's"

A top ten video list for the year showing players that get off for grub acts with a fine

And then... A special category maybe "the lower club losers" where the most outrageous suspensions for the most minimal acts are showcased.

Butters would be up there.

Maynard will head into the leaderboard for "the Christians" by next week.

Nice elbow grub

  • PREVIEW: Brisbnae

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
