The two that surprised me most was Kolt off half back (offensively and defensively) and Howes where ever he was playing (was it wing).
Sparrow got more than usual but turns back into traffic or dump kicks too much for my liking.

the surprise was Kolt playing there i definitely dont think he did anything that stood out or even looked like a sign, certainly not with ball in hand, he made maybe 2 good spoils in the air but it was probably the bare minimum of a defender in a game of football hardly anything amazing

also I must be watching a different game to everyone else on Howes, i really don't get the DL love affair with him, all his possessions come as a sweeper type deep operator switching the play, he has no defensive accountability and no contested game, he took an uncontested intercept mark or two but i really don't see it with him

I agree Spaz was good Friday, issue being once Koz and Riv are back in mix and hes sent back to HF is that we get the same old same old, maybe he can run that culley/brayshaw narrow winger role and he's definitely more suited to being up the ground then say Fritta is despite their constant willingness to try it but i think even a latrelle would be more damaging as a HF up to stoppage than sparrow is

Did little and then got injured. Not up to it!

I agree he's not up to it, but harsh to say did little, he played maybe 5 minutes maybe 10, not a large sample size out of 90mins

We should have a better idea of all of this after the practice match against North.

Just watch out for ' @old dee '...he often quotes about dancing with your sister.

I'm a bit concerned.

Have no fear rjay. With AI and predictive script typing rjay is hard work it took 3 attempt each time, keeps converting it to "that". Now it says the Grammer is incorrect go figure. Hmm back to dancing with your sister rjay!

ย

Dancing with your sister gets a bad rap on here. Iโ€™ve danced with my brother many times over the years and we killed it on the dance-floor. BOG every time ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Why is it that when im on holidays they open the gates but when I'm around its a closed compound?

Have you checked your mail since you got back to see if they've sent you a restraining order? ๐Ÿ™‚

Beg to differ, Kolt looked really good in defence...

On Ah-Mu, i think there is a bit to work with if he was on the list he is only a kid plenty of time for development in him.

Really like this change up for Kolt!

I had written him off, but I can see a future as a Michael Hibbard type.

Might have the necessary desperation.

Thought he had a good game and distributed the ball well.

Who would already write off a 20 year old kid after only 19 games. Expectations of these players is absurdly unrealistic

Very hard to take too much from this, given the makeup of the teams (VFL/top up players) and the shorter game time, but apart from the usual suspects was impressed by Kentfield. Just looks like he knows how to go about it. A real shame he spent last season playing catch-up after missing the pre-season, but worth persevering with I would have thought.

To a lesser extent, Thostrup. Not a lot of exposure here, but for the first time it looked like he was playing a role that aligned with the kind of player he is. Whether going forward that makes him a defender remains to be seen, but promising. Will be interesting to see where he lines up in the upcoming practice matches.

Do you really want any of us to answer that PF?

Im going, looking forward to a bit of "match simulation" (whatever that is!)

Even less important than a practice match by the sound of it!

Definitely framemogging him

Looks like the Incredible Hulk, lets hope he remains injury free and has a very good year

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
